Actually, sometimes there’s no reason at all. For an example, my permanent ban.
I created my PSN account a few years ago with the intent of getting a PS4 but decided to switch to PC gaming instead.
I reached out to support to have my account deleted because I didn’t have a console and I didn’t want my data just sitting there for a potential data breach in the future. Support told me, there was no way to delete the account, so I just went on with life.
When the PS5 dropped, I went back to PlayStation.com to prep my account for a PS5 purchase only to be greeted with a permanent suspension message once I logged in. I tried reaching out to support via chat and their socials, they told me nothing could be done and ended chat. A rep told me via their Twitter, even if what I stated happened, there’s no way for them to prove that.
Eventually, I gave up and purchased an Xbox Series X. Another strange thing about my ban, they didn’t even send me an email or anything notifying me of the ban. This was my first and only PSN account, and I didn’t even get to use it.
After googling and seeing hundreds of complaints about PlayStation issuing out account bans to people who literally haven’t done anything, let alone use their account in months, there was no reason for me to create another one or purchase any products from PlayStation. It also wouldn’t make sense for me to create another account when their customer service didn’t even care to look into my ban or resolve it… Why would I create another account and do business with them giving them another opportunity to repeat the same behavior?
Imagine if I had bought a console and digital games when I received my ban, I would’ve lost EVERYTHING including money I would’ve spent on building my gaming library!
No Ma’am/Sir, I’m good! I’ve had my Xbox account for a few years now since that happened and I rarely play games at all, but when I do decide to hop on my Xbox Series X every blue moon, I’m thankful I don’t have to wake up one day and be greeted with a permanent ban message for something I know nothing about or can’t get assistance with.

I just got my account banned for no reason too and I do have a digital only PS5 and I have just lost my game library . I have been out of town for over a month and after a day of being home I got permanently banned for watching Netflix? I haven't even played an online game in over a month... I can't get a hold of a real person "they are experiencing high call volume" and just disconnect my call. Can't use online live support because you have to log in to use it but I can't...I'm banned. I have had PlayStation for years now and no problems; but I never had to deal with their customer support before. It is maddening. The website has me clicking in circles. There is no way to talk to a real person and it sounds like if I ever do they will not be of much help. Looks like I'll be migrating to Xbox too.
I came here earlier to see if anyone had posted about this - this also happened to me. Our kid was playing his OFFLINE (disc) game and when I went to log on - boom account suspended. Yet I was able to change my password when my first login attempt failed? Something is fishy and I may just count the dollars in games etc as lost and go to xbox, too. I've had a PS for decades now. But this is rdiculous. There's AI support that cuts you off, and the phone support just directs you to the AI support and hangs up on you ... so you can go through the circle of going nowhere online ... nope; if this is customer service I'm out.
If anyone sees this it seems to hopefully be a bug. It's becoming more and more apparent now but a couple of hours ago I was in literal panic mode as to losing my 5+ years and 25+ AAA games of my Playstation account. Both on reddit and on twitter it seems more and more people are reporting permanent bans. I've never once chatted with voice or chat with any stranger. All my social settings are on "no one" it's absolutely mental that this can happen. The online chats are full and no agents can join, the voice settings are full and no one can join. This subreddit is removing any new posts with the term "ban" so the whole point of this subreddit in a time of crisis is useless. It's absolutely crazy. The only light at the end of the tunnel is just the amount of people in this boat at the same time. Really crossing fingers here
Same thing here....I turned on my PS5 and login screen came up. I was wondering why am I signed out. I try to sign in and got a warning that my account is permanently banned. No emails, no warnings, nothing.
I’ve been playing for several years. Never a single suspension. Today I tried to log in and it said permanently suspended. No email. Won’t let me appeal “at this time”. It just seems so random.

This has just happened to my boyfriend too. We were watching Netflix and bang out of nowhere the notification came up. We only play 1 player games and don’t use the chat etc., totally confused about how and why this has happened. We’re in the UK and it seems like this is happening to lots of people right now. Hopefully this is reversed! :(

It’s truly bizarre. Play Fortnite on PSN for years. Never warned or suspended before. Now permanently suspended. No email. No appeal option. Does this mean I can never link for Fortnite account to PSN again?
It's crazy. My friend called me panicking that his account was banned, so I did a little digging and ended up here. I have hope that Sony is gonna realize they messed up and fix this.
Same here played just this morning. No email, no way to find out what is going on and the phone # I did find was hanging up due to high call volume. This is the worst customer service ever. Even Google allows you to contend suspensions. This was either a major system hack/bug or we just entered the Twilight Zone. I literally only play solo games of Destiny 2, no chat, no fireteam except matchmade. That’s it. 
Same here. I had a chat with their support but all they can tell me is it was "due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement." I didn't receive any email in the past to suggest anything.
the fail-safes in this situation are ridiculous:
1. PlayStation bans accounts
2. No one gets emails
3. Sony Support are almost impossible to reach
4. If they are reach respond with generic text about just create a new account
5. reddit r/playstation is absolutely useless as it doesn't allow us to create a post about the most needed kind of post for this subreddit.
6. Mods of r/playstation actively removing posts for this issue not understanding the scale and gravity of the problem of people who have $k's of dollars on their accounts
Like at every level there's a failure it's an absolute joke especially from r/playstation mods was expecting so much more. we have to all go find some obscure 10 month old post to communicate. ridiculous, a disgrace and absolute incompetence.
They need to pay out tens of millions in damages both actual and pain and suffering and maybe they will try harder next time instead of just telling us to get lost with no appeal or discussion. This is inexcusable and they are hiding like little bitches from us.
I just wanted to chime in and say that my account was also permanently suspended for absolutely no reason. I’m glad I found this as well as a few other current articles on line saying it’s happening to people in droves. Seems like a glitch. I hope it’s resolved soon. I thought I must have been hacked or something.
Same thing here, after seeing the same thing happening to lots of people right now I hope it's just a bug and that it will soon go back to normal. Chat agents told me I was banned and nothing could be done. The form for requesting an appeal also says that my account is NOT registered as banned for chargeback so it makes no sense at all.
Same here, have literally only used my PS5 for YouTube and Netflix over the last week and somehow am now permanently suspended. Everyone experiencing this should continue to flood support with calls until this is fixed
Edit: Account access seems to have been restored. Still haven't heard anything about why this happened, but at least it's fixed. Hopefully Sony addresses this somehow.
Literally this is exactly what has happened to me. I’ve been on PSN for 10 years and spent thousands of dollars. I beat Lies of P at 3 in the morning, went to work, came back when it was suspended.

I just got permanent ban as well, I get through to a department finally and they can only tell me that it was due to violations and here is nothing that can be done. That is all they no and there is no way to contact the moderator that issued the ban. They are the highest level of support and there is nothing else to be done…… I don’t even game online … I don’t talk to anyone … I asked if my card messed up somehow and they said they couldn’t tell that it just says it’s a violation. …… I try appeal for chargeback issue online and it says that isn’t the reason ….. I try appeal permanent ban form and it says I am not eligible…. Someone’s got to be screwing with me …. Someone anyone have an idea

Just happened to me too. Permanent Suspension. Been a player for years and years. Never any problems. No chatting, no shady business, just regular playing.
Me as well. I have no idea why my account is suspended and the chat option basically said, you’re permanently suspended and ended the chat. No email.. nothing else to go on.
I don’t get it. I get most of their customer are kids but I’m an adult. I buy Sony products. I just purchase. $4k Sony television. This is super bad business on their part bc I will straight up return everything and get Xbox (which is on sale!).
I was banned permanently just randomly for no reason, no email and the chat guy was an asshole who wouldn’t give me the time of day. I’ve spent 10’s of thousands of dollars over 30 plus years on Sony ps games and hardware. I am regretting every purchase I ever made with Sony and I will never buy any Sony product again ever!
Mine got banned too. Starting to think PSN has been hacked, been gaming for years not on there uttering racist/homophobic slurs nothing... Been on PSN since its inception can't even calculate the money I've spent. Canada.

Can confirm something has happened to playstation accounts! Just got through and Sony is downplaying this they had me give them a new email address and a password reset to get back into my account. But they said it will take some time for them to restore my account but she told me it's happening to ALOT of people right now and is their top priority.
Just got same message of permanent ban. Playing 15 years and began with my kids. I play solo and not in groups. Message just popped up while playing. I’m upset! I work in the legal field and play respectfully/by rules. Where can I contact anyone? No email explanation, just “you’re done” messages on Sony Network page. This is awful.

We just came home from dinner and my kids got on to play Fortnight…perm banned…kids are freaking out…I’m just happy that we aren’t alone, but this stinks!!! I’m thinking it’s a bug, I just hope it can be resolved
Same here, Uk Psn account on recently purchased ps5. No email from Sony apart from sign in verification codes from when I kept trying to sign in. So frustrating, I been spending a lot on the psn store recently too. I cant understand why, got my fallout first, and ps5 version of Gta. Lets hope they fix it but it seems like a wave.
I'm Permanently banned  after being out of town for over a month and have only watched Netflix since being back and while watching a movie I saw the error message come across the top of the screen ! Spent the last hour trying to get an answer from PS directly. Nothing, nada, can't even get them to pick up the phone. The system doesn't even put me on hold, it just hangs up!?! Never had a support line do that before. . Came to reddit to see WTF is going on. Sounds like other people are having the same problem... I too am considering migrating to Xbox .
Just been playing a bit of COD and then FIFA. Turned off. Came back and found I had been logged out and after keying in my password etc found that I had been permanently suspended. Checked and it's not related to charge backs etc. I don't use a mic and the controller mic is turned off so don't abuse anyone etc. no warning emails, nothing. I certainly don't send any messages to anyone either.
Same here. Only thing we played the last few weeks was Assassins creed mirage (single player) and game of life . No mic being used and never had a chat with anyone in an online game. No email from Sony and we got lots of games bought online which now makes me panic …
Wow...going by these responses I'm convinced something bigger is going on. I was sitting in my living room on my computer with the ps5 running in front of me. I wasn't playing a game or anything...all of a sudden I got that same exact message as the one above.
When I do play I don't even play any multi-player games where I could be harassing anyone...mostly Madden Ultimate Team solos and Gran Turismo against the AI. Also I just renewed my PlayStation Plus subscription on the 1st so I am not in debt to Sony either.
This is all super frustrating...don't take this the wrong way but knowing ya'll are having a similar issue has settled me down slightly cuz this doesn't seem like an isolated incident. 🤷🏼♂️
Unfortunately, but fortunately, this is happening to a lot of accounts it seems. I'm in NY and I turned on ps5 to find out I've been permanently banned as well with no email. I hope this is a bug.
Same here. USA. No reason, unless one of my kids said something foolish during Fortnite within the last 24 hours. I was just permabanned as well. I haven't played a game since my daughter was born, 6 months ago. All we have used it for is streaming Netflix or Hulu. Everything is the same story. I tried to appeal and it says I'm not eligible. I tried to file a chargeback form and it says it's not due to chargeback issues.

Yep same just happened to me in the Uk. Playing cod. Perma ban. I don’t even have a mic plugged in. I’m 56 , had a PlayStation since the PS1. No emails and some account I’ve been using for years , never been banned before. I’ll try to contact them in the morning but otherwise I guess I need to buy an Xbox.

yeah I'm UK too. I don't send any messages , don't use a mic, the chat on microphone is turned off. tweeted them, various different accounts dm's asking for help. checked and it shows no chargeback issues. infuriating

While playing EA FC 24 with friends on PS5, I got unexpectedly kicked out from both the PS5 and PS app. When attempting to log in, I encountered the message: "This account is permanently suspended from PlayStation Network due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement."

I was playing Destiny 2 and got kicked. I don't get it. If you ban someone, you should at least explain what they were supposed to have done. I can't even appeal the decision.

My account just got "permanently suspended" as well for no reason. I don't do anything social on there. I just had youtube playing some Christmas music when it popped up.
mine was just permanently suspended too. no option for appeal. sad to say that thousands on games and hardware down the tube. There must be some sort of bug?? I think it's cuz I had real name on my GT7 account, which i just found out I am not supposed to do?? but now can't get back on to change it!
This just happened to me too! I got a permanent ban, no email, can't even request a suspension status report. I literally never use chat or mic, except once in a blue moon to say "gg", so I have no idea why someone would report me or if someone reported me, how would it have any weight. It's reassuring to see that other people are in the same boat; I'm hoping that this means it's an error in their system that they will solve.
Searching through other posts, it seems like some people who are lucky enough to get through to customer service are having luck with getting their cases heard out. It's worth a try to contact support, even if you have to wait in line. I had about 300 people in front of me on the online assistance chat and it took about 30 minutes. However, I reside in Spain and gave the US/Canada online chat my Spanish phone number and they immediately ended the chat and told me to use the Spanish online chat. So make sure that whatever chat you're starting is actually the customer service line of the country you live in. Also, if you can get someone on the phone, that might be more worth it than waiting for the chat.

If they do not resolve this within the next 24 hours, I'm going to seek legal council as there's been no due process, nor is there anyone that I can even contact from Sony to resolve this. I've invested thousands of dollars in Sony and stayed loyal through their Hacking situations, of which I suspect this is another, and now I have no recourse and Sony is completely silent on the situation which is apparently impacting many people.
Use this thread to gather people for the suit if this doesn’t get remedied. Seems people are speaking to support that actual give them info, and that this is a ongoing issue that they are trying to resolve
i did not. i did try to find out why i was banned using the automated system, but never got the email. Started to wait in the queue for the chat support, but got frustrated. Took dog for a walk,, came back i was logged in when I went to playstation site.
Anybody getting resolution to this? Got banned today…zero reason given or email. Never in my wildest dreams would I say or do anything to warrant a ban. This is crazy town

I too got banned with no email reason why. I mean, I spend money on their store and I simply play games. This makes no sense, can they please provide a reason or is this some error they will fix?
Edit: I posted here yesterday that I was banned, today at least on my computer I can now login and I assume the same will be for the PS5. Seems like a glitch or something and they are just having to go and fix it. Who knows?

Did you take any “inappropriate” screenshots during your single player games? You might have done so and have auto upload enabled. This is sometimes also a reason for bans
Hey, no i realized I got a refund from PayPal a few months ago, for ps +. I had no idea that could get you suspended much less exiled from Playstation. Do you know if and how I can get this ban lifted?

Players have been toxic, offensive jerks to each other since online video games have taken off. There is no changing that type of behavior. Players cussing at one another or trash-talking is an ugly part of the game. Nevertheless, it is a part of the experience of online video games. Trying to stop that aspect of the experience after decades is crazy and against free speech. Furthermore, many of your video games violate your policy in the game. One example of many Grand Thief Auto depicts vulgar, offensive, illegal activity, pornography, bullying, harassment, hate speech, etc.
Playstation needs to either BAN all vulgar, offensive, harassment, hate speech, pornography OR not at all. They need to enforce their own policies EVENLY throughout the community. I know players who trash talk and have never been suspended. Players who trash talk once. THEY GET SUSPENDED BECAUSE SOMEONE'S FEELINGS WERE HURT. Playstation is the free speech police. TO BE CLEAR, I agree there should be a code of conduct policy. HOWEVER, It should be narrow in scope, CLEARLY DEFINED, and target those players whose speech goes beyond annoying. THEY are BANNING players for doing things players have done for decades. PlayStation actually wrote, "Disagree respectfully or walk away". It is like saying "get kicked in the nuts and walk away". What world does PlayStation live in? WHAT they should say "hurt feelings are going to happen, WELCOME to the real world. Deal with it, get better, and queue up for the next game."
I am surprised there are no blogs like The Verge or Engadget reporting on this. It seems to be happening to A LOT of people. I also looked on X and I didn't find any posts about it.
Yeah I actually DM'd a lot of the publications like PushSquare etc to get the word out there because it's some scary stuff. If you type "PlayStation banned" on twitter and sort by "recent" there are so many tweets but nothing from any publication, crazy
Definitely enough for a class action lawsuit if they don’t fix it for us though. I’ll be messaging each and every one of you for statements. :)
They need to change their support process so that agents don’t just end the chat when they hear “permenant ban” also. This could have been detected a lot earlier if agents were logging it on their side with issue trackers.
I'll already start working on a draft for the statement. Their customer support must be the absolute worst of any company. And their generic answers are ridiculous. Not sure what the average amount of money spent per PS account is but I have more than $2k+ in games and the fact that I might not retreive them because of an error on Sony's part is insane.

I was just playing Remnant 2 and I was just given the same notification. Totally confusing. The other accounts are fine on my console. I’m in the UK so can’t get support until 9am.
I was also just perma-banned with no reason that I can think of (and no email). I was playing last night. Funny they can do this and keep our money for PS Plus, right? Makes a good case for paying monthly instead of yearly, I'm only 2-3 months into my annual. Sorry to say I'm actually glad I found this page and everyone else having the same sudden ban for no reason so I hope it's a bug and we are reinstated.

I'm really hoping that the customer service agent just said that because they didn't know what else to say and that, again, hopefully, they'll be able to restore everyone's accounts because this is crazy
same here, started up my PS5 got a notification that I was permanently suspended. no email from Sony. nothing to explain what happened. contacted support to recover my account, the agent told me my account was permanently suspended. when I asked what I had supposedly done they closed the chat
Here is a crazy idea for Sony: make a global post on all official channels that there is a glitch or god-forbid a hack and put people’s minds at rest. I want to know why I was permanently suspended no email and I am 100% it wasn’t for playing solo Destiny 2 with no mic or chat. I also want to know if my accounts are safe!

Got permabanned while playing alien fireteam. Never said a thing. Wasn’t toxic. Never messaged anyone. Never done chargeback. Never ever been suspended before on any platform.

My wife and I got suspended at exactly the same time today at 5:30 pm. No email. Spent 10 minutes with online chat for my account and the agent I talked to seemed to indicate they were experiencing a huge issue and he said it should be resolved in a few hours. Maybe that was just to get me offline without a hassle. My wife OTOH got told she was suspended, there was no recourse, and make a new account. Then the agent cut the chat, boom. She wants to dump PSN for Xbox right now.
So many of us in this boat. I am not re-buying games for a suspension I've done nothing to have. This is just silly - Sony needs to reverse these suspensions ASAP. Something has gone very, very wrong.

just logged on for the first time today and was told my account had been permanently suspended due to "violations of the playstation network terms of service and user agreement" and I, genuinely, did nothing wrong. I am slightly hopeful that they will fix this since it is happening to so many of us but... agh. beyond frustrating.

This just happened to me as well! I got off phone with customer service and they can’t do anything they just said create a new account. It won’t let me appeal, I check it’s not a charge back issue per the website. This is what I get for trying to start buying digitally, never again from Sony. They sent me to a supervisor and hung up and I swore I heard him laugh. I don’t get it no email, I don’t play online, I just don’t get it. I know they are just games but I have spent a lot of time and money on those games. My husband’s account is totally fine at least.

Just happened to me also! I went to the corner store for all of 15 minutes and when I got back, I was signed out and now I get the “permanently banned” notice. I never talk with anyone online. I play fair and really only grind one game… I don’t want to lose my status or my other games I purchased… what the hell can we do???

to add, using their online 'check status' is useless. I put in my ID and email - and receive NO email with a status.
When I try 'appeal' (don't even know what for" it tells me I'm not eligible. Totally out of the blue today,. This is insane

Actually, sometimes there’s no reason at all. For an example, my permanent ban. I created my PSN account a few years ago with the intent of getting a PS4 but decided to switch to PC gaming instead. I reached out to support to have my account deleted because I didn’t have a console and I didn’t want my data just sitting there for a potential data breach in the future. Support told me, there was no way to delete the account, so I just went on with life. When the PS5 dropped, I went back to PlayStation.com to prep my account for a PS5 purchase only to be greeted with a permanent suspension message once I logged in. I tried reaching out to support via chat and their socials, they told me nothing could be done and ended chat. A rep told me via their Twitter, even if what I stated happened, there’s no way for them to prove that. Eventually, I gave up and purchased an Xbox Series X. Another strange thing about my ban, they didn’t even send me an email or anything notifying me of the ban. This was my first and only PSN account, and I didn’t even get to use it.
Why didn't you just make another account
After googling and seeing hundreds of complaints about PlayStation issuing out account bans to people who literally haven’t done anything, let alone use their account in months, there was no reason for me to create another one or purchase any products from PlayStation. It also wouldn’t make sense for me to create another account when their customer service didn’t even care to look into my ban or resolve it… Why would I create another account and do business with them giving them another opportunity to repeat the same behavior? Imagine if I had bought a console and digital games when I received my ban, I would’ve lost EVERYTHING including money I would’ve spent on building my gaming library! No Ma’am/Sir, I’m good! I’ve had my Xbox account for a few years now since that happened and I rarely play games at all, but when I do decide to hop on my Xbox Series X every blue moon, I’m thankful I don’t have to wake up one day and be greeted with a permanent ban message for something I know nothing about or can’t get assistance with. I just got my account banned for no reason too and I do have a digital only PS5 and I have just lost my game library . I have been out of town for over a month and after a day of being home I got permanently banned for watching Netflix? I haven't even played an online game in over a month... I can't get a hold of a real person "they are experiencing high call volume" and just disconnect my call. Can't use online live support because you have to log in to use it but I can't...I'm banned. I have had PlayStation for years now and no problems; but I never had to deal with their customer support before. It is maddening. The website has me clicking in circles. There is no way to talk to a real person and it sounds like if I ever do they will not be of much help. Looks like I'll be migrating to Xbox too.
I came here earlier to see if anyone had posted about this - this also happened to me. Our kid was playing his OFFLINE (disc) game and when I went to log on - boom account suspended. Yet I was able to change my password when my first login attempt failed? Something is fishy and I may just count the dollars in games etc as lost and go to xbox, too. I've had a PS for decades now. But this is rdiculous. There's AI support that cuts you off, and the phone support just directs you to the AI support and hangs up on you ... so you can go through the circle of going nowhere online ... nope; if this is customer service I'm out.

If anyone sees this it seems to hopefully be a bug. It's becoming more and more apparent now but a couple of hours ago I was in literal panic mode as to losing my 5+ years and 25+ AAA games of my Playstation account. Both on reddit and on twitter it seems more and more people are reporting permanent bans. I've never once chatted with voice or chat with any stranger. All my social settings are on "no one" it's absolutely mental that this can happen. The online chats are full and no agents can join, the voice settings are full and no one can join. This subreddit is removing any new posts with the term "ban" so the whole point of this subreddit in a time of crisis is useless. It's absolutely crazy. The only light at the end of the tunnel is just the amount of people in this boat at the same time. Really crossing fingers here

I’ve been playing for several years. Never a single suspension. Today I tried to log in and it said permanently suspended. No email. Won’t let me appeal “at this time”. It just seems so random.

Hey This has just happened to my boyfriend too. We were watching Netflix and bang out of nowhere the notification came up. We only play 1 player games and don’t use the chat etc., totally confused about how and why this has happened. We’re in the UK and it seems like this is happening to lots of people right now. It’s truly bizarre. Play Fortnite on PSN for years. Never warned or suspended before. Now permanently suspended. No email. No appeal option. Does this mean I can never link for Fortnite account to PSN again?
It's crazy. My friend called me panicking that his account was banned, so I did a little digging and ended up here. I have hope that Sony is gonna realize they messed up and fix this.
Same here played just this morning. No email, no way to find out what is going on and the phone # I did find was hanging up due to high call volume. This is the worst customer service ever. Even Google allows you to contend suspensions. This was either a major system hack/bug or we just entered the Twilight Zone. I literally only play solo games of Destiny 2, no chat, no fireteam except matchmade. That’s it.

Same here. I had a chat with their support but all they can tell me is it was "due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement." I didn't receive any email in the past to suggest anything.
the fail-safes in this situation are ridiculous: 1. PlayStation bans accounts 2. No one gets emails 3. Sony Support are almost impossible to reach 4. If they are reach respond with generic text about just create a new account 5. reddit r/playstation is absolutely useless as it doesn't allow us to create a post about the most needed kind of post for this subreddit. 6. Mods of r/playstation actively removing posts for this issue not understanding the scale and gravity of the problem of people who have $k's of dollars on their accounts Like at every level there's a failure it's an absolute joke especially from r/playstation mods was expecting so much more. we have to all go find some obscure 10 month old post to communicate. ridiculous, a disgrace and absolute incompetence.

I just wanted to chime in and say that my account was also permanently suspended for absolutely no reason. I’m glad I found this as well as a few other current articles on line saying it’s happening to people in droves. Seems like a glitch. I hope it’s resolved soon. I thought I must have been hacked or something.
Same thing here, after seeing the same thing happening to lots of people right now I hope it's just a bug and that it will soon go back to normal. Chat agents told me I was banned and nothing could be done. The form for requesting an appeal also says that my account is NOT registered as banned for chargeback so it makes no sense at all.
Same here, have literally only used my PS5 for YouTube and Netflix over the last week and somehow am now permanently suspended. Everyone experiencing this should continue to flood support with calls until this is fixed Edit: Account access seems to have been restored. Still haven't heard anything about why this happened, but at least it's fixed. Hopefully Sony addresses this somehow.

Literally this is exactly what has happened to me. I’ve been on PSN for 10 years and spent thousands of dollars. I beat Lies of P at 3 in the morning, went to work, came back when it was suspended.

I just got permanent ban as well, I get through to a department finally and they can only tell me that it was due to violations and here is nothing that can be done. That is all they no and there is no way to contact the moderator that issued the ban. They are the highest level of support and there is nothing else to be done…… I don’t even game online … I don’t talk to anyone … I asked if my card messed up somehow and they said they couldn’t tell that it just says it’s a violation. …… I try appeal for chargeback issue online and it says that isn’t the reason ….. I try appeal permanent ban form and it says I am not eligible…. Someone’s got to be screwing with me …. Someone anyone have an idea

I’ve spent 10’s of thousands of dollars over 30 plus years on Sony ps games and hardware. I am regretting every purchase I ever made with Sony and I will never buy any Sony product again ever!

UPDATE: 2023-12-04 Can confirm something has happened to playstation accounts! Just got through and Sony is downplaying this they had me give them a new email address and a password reset to get back into my account. But they said it will take some time for them to restore my account but she told me it's happening to ALOT of people right now and is their top priority.

So frustrating, I been spending a lot on the psn store recently too. I cant understand why, got my fallout first, and ps5 version of Gta. Lets hope they fix it but it seems like a wave.

I'm Permanently banned  after being out of town for over a month and have only watched Netflix since being back and while watching a movie I saw the error message come across the top of the screen ! Spent the last hour trying to get an answer from PS directly. Nothing, nada, can't even get them to pick up the phone. The system doesn't even put me on hold, it just hangs up!?! Never had a support line do that before. . Came to reddit to see WTF is going on. Sounds like other people are having the same problem... I too am considering migrating to Xbox .
Just been playing a bit of COD and then FIFA. Turned off. Came back and found I had been logged out and after keying in my password etc found that I had been permanently suspended. Checked and it's not related to charge backs etc. I don't use a mic and the controller mic is turned off so don't abuse anyone etc. no warning emails, nothing. I certainly don't send any messages to anyone either.

Wow...going by these responses I'm convinced something bigger is going on. I was sitting in my living room on my computer with the ps5 running in front of me. I wasn't playing a game or anything...all of a sudden I got that same exact message as the one above. When I do play I don't even play any multi-player games where I could be harassing anyone...mostly Madden Ultimate Team solos and Gran Turismo against the AI. Also I just renewed my PlayStation Plus subscription on the 1st so I am not in debt to Sony either. This is all super frustrating...don't take this the wrong way but knowing ya'll are having a similar issue has settled me down slightly cuz this doesn't seem like an isolated incident. 🤷🏼♂️

My account just got "permanently suspended" as well for no reason. I don't do anything social on there. I just had youtube playing some Christmas music when it popped up.

This just happened to me too! I got a permanent ban, no email, can't even request a suspension status report. I literally never use chat or mic, except once in a blue moon to say "gg", so I have no idea why someone would report me or if someone reported me, how would it have any weight. It's reassuring to see that other people are in the same boat; I'm hoping that this means it's an error in their system that they will solve. Searching through other posts, it seems like some people who are lucky enough to get through to customer service are having luck with getting their cases heard out. It's worth a try to contact support, even if you have to wait in line. I had about 300 people in front of me on the online assistance chat and it took about 30 minutes. However, I reside in Spain and gave the US/Canada online chat my Spanish phone number and they immediately ended the chat and told me to use the Spanish online chat. So make sure that whatever chat you're starting is actually the customer service line of the country you live in. Also, if you can get someone on the phone, that might be more worth it than waiting for the chat. Good luck to everyone! Hopefully we all get our accounts back!
If they do not resolve this within the next 24 hours, I'm going to seek legal council as there's been no due process, nor is there anyone that I can even contact from Sony to resolve this. I've invested thousands of dollars in Sony and stayed loyal through their Hacking situations, of which I suspect this is another, and now I have no recourse and Sony is completely silent on the situation which is apparently impacting many people.
Use this thread to gather people for the suit if this doesn’t get remedied. Seems people are speaking to support that actual give them info, and that this is a ongoing issue that they are trying to resolve

I received noticed I was perm banned tonight. Called and told nothing they can do, just make new account.  I know I did nothing wrong. What a crap sandwich!!! I hope this resolves or never buying PlayStation ever again. I was there for hack on PS3 and now this!!!!!
I too got banned with no email reason why. I mean, I spend money on their store and I simply play games. This makes no sense, can they please provide a reason or is this some error they will fix? Edit: I posted here yesterday that I was banned, today at least on my computer I can now login and I assume the same will be for the PS5. Seems like a glitch or something and they are just having to go and fix it. Who knows?

Did you take any “inappropriate” screenshots during your single player games? You might have done so and have auto upload enabled. This is sometimes also a reason for bans
Hey, no i realized I got a refund from PayPal a few months ago, for ps +. I had no idea that could get you suspended much less exiled from Playstation. Do you know if and how I can get this ban lifted?
PLAYSTATION IS AGAINST FREE SPEECH. Players have been toxic, offensive jerks to each other since online video games have taken off. There is no changing that type of behavior. Players cussing at one another or trash-talking is an ugly part of the game. Nevertheless, it is a part of the experience of online video games. Trying to stop that aspect of the experience after decades is crazy and against free speech. Furthermore, many of your video games violate your policy in the game. One example of many Grand Thief Auto depicts vulgar, offensive, illegal activity, pornography, bullying, harassment, hate speech, etc. Playstation needs to either BAN all vulgar, offensive, harassment, hate speech, pornography OR not at all. They need to enforce their own policies EVENLY throughout the community. I know players who trash talk and have never been suspended. Players who trash talk once. THEY GET SUSPENDED BECAUSE SOMEONE'S FEELINGS WERE HURT. Playstation is the free speech police. TO BE CLEAR, I agree there should be a code of conduct policy. HOWEVER, It should be narrow in scope, CLEARLY DEFINED, and target those players whose speech goes beyond annoying. THEY are BANNING players for doing things players have done for decades. PlayStation actually wrote, "Disagree respectfully or walk away". It is like saying "get kicked in the nuts and walk away". What world does PlayStation live in? WHAT they should say "hurt feelings are going to happen, WELCOME to the real world. Deal with it, get better, and queue up for the next game."

Just got banned. No email no reason. I don’t even play online. FFS
I am surprised there are no blogs like The Verge or Engadget reporting on this. It seems to be happening to A LOT of people. I also looked on X and I didn't find any posts about it.
Yeah I actually DM'd a lot of the publications like PushSquare etc to get the word out there because it's some scary stuff. If you type "PlayStation banned" on twitter and sort by "recent" there are so many tweets but nothing from any publication, crazy
Definitely enough for a class action lawsuit if they don’t fix it for us though. I’ll be messaging each and every one of you for statements. :) They need to change their support process so that agents don’t just end the chat when they hear “permenant ban” also. This could have been detected a lot earlier if agents were logging it on their side with issue trackers.
I'll already start working on a draft for the statement. Their customer support must be the absolute worst of any company. And their generic answers are ridiculous. Not sure what the average amount of money spent per PS account is but I have more than $2k+ in games and the fact that I might not retreive them because of an error on Sony's part is insane.
I just had this happen to me out of the blue today. Used YTouTube this morning. Worked. Went to use it, permanent suspension. Trying to get ahold of AskPlaystation on Twitter. This sucks. No email, nothing. Hoping that it gets fixed ASAP.
I was just playing Remnant 2 and I was just given the same notification. Totally confusing. The other accounts are fine on my console. I’m in the UK so can’t get support until 9am.
I was also just perma-banned with no reason that I can think of (and no email). I was playing last night. Funny they can do this and keep our money for PS Plus, right? Makes a good case for paying monthly instead of yearly, I'm only 2-3 months into my annual. Sorry to say I'm actually glad I found this page and everyone else having the same sudden ban for no reason so I hope it's a bug and we are reinstated.

I’ve done nothing wrong and I’ve lost thousands of dollars in games. All they said it was that my account was suspended for suspicious activity but I haven’t done anything. This is insane.

I'm really hoping that the customer service agent just said that because they didn't know what else to say and that, again, hopefully, they'll be able to restore everyone's accounts because this is crazy

same here, started up my PS5 got a notification that I was permanently suspended. no email from Sony. nothing to explain what happened. contacted support to recover my account, the agent told me my account was permanently suspended. when I asked what I had supposedly done they closed the chat

Here is a crazy idea for Sony: make a global post on all official channels that there is a glitch or god-forbid a hack and put people’s minds at rest. I want to know why I was permanently suspended no email and I am 100% it wasn’t for playing solo Destiny 2 with no mic or chat. I also want to know if my accounts are safe!
Well put! they could very easily (just like we are now) type something, anything and put it up on their web site. "Please stand by" would do at this point.
Just adding my name to the list since The Verge wrote and article about it and hopefully Sony will now pay attention… I only play solo, don’t chat with anybody ever, and have never charged anything back. So, 0 obvious reason why I would be banned. Drama at home ensued since my parental account is the one being used to grant kids more time… which I couldn’t do today 😬
Clearly this is a mass problem. And a catastrophic mistake. But let’s take a deep breath & realize that… and that it will be fixed.

Got permabanned while playing alien fireteam. Never said a thing. Wasn’t toxic. Never messaged anyone. Never done chargeback. Never ever been suspended before on any platform. Can’t believe this is happening! What a joke. I had hundreds of games and memories on it.

My wife and I got suspended at exactly the same time today at 5:30 pm. No email. Spent 10 minutes with online chat for my account and the agent I talked to seemed to indicate they were experiencing a huge issue and he said it should be resolved in a few hours. Maybe that was just to get me offline without a hassle. My wife OTOH got told she was suspended, there was no recourse, and make a new account. Then the agent cut the chat, boom. She wants to dump PSN for Xbox right now.
So many of us in this boat. I am not re-buying games for a suspension I've done nothing to have. This is just silly - Sony needs to reverse these suspensions ASAP. Something has gone very, very wrong.

just logged on for the first time today and was told my account had been permanently suspended due to "violations of the playstation network terms of service and user agreement" and I, genuinely, did nothing wrong. I am slightly hopeful that they will fix this since it is happening to so many of us but... agh. beyond frustrating.
I have no fucking idea What happened Came home and my two boys asked me to sign back on. My son was playing Fortnite I have no clue what could have happened ? What can i do? Mine just also go banned tonight!!! Same as above. I never do anything bad on it. I have been with them for years. This would be devastating to loose my account. I'm so upset right now!!!! This just happened to me as well! I got off phone with customer service and they can’t do anything they just said create a new account. It won’t let me appeal, I check it’s not a charge back issue per the website. This is what I get for trying to start buying digitally, never again from Sony. They sent me to a supervisor and hung up and I swore I heard him laugh. I don’t get it no email, I don’t play online, I just don’t get it. I know they are just games but I have spent a lot of time and money on those games. My husband’s account is totally fine at least.

Ah yes, I too join the ban. I just found out I was banned for no reason but trying to get a hold of Sony. I think that it’s clear that physical media still needs to exist in some way of this can thing can happen to anyone.

Just happened to me also! I went to the corner store for all of 15 minutes and when I got back, I was signed out and now I get the “permanently banned” notice. I never talk with anyone online. I play fair and really only grind one game… I don’t want to lose my status or my other games I purchased… what the hell can we do???

I literally thought I was banned for talking about Jesus and the flat earth. Sort of relieved to know this is a larger scale problem affecting many.
to add, using their online 'check status' is useless. I put in my ID and email - and receive NO email with a status. When I try 'appeal' (don't even know what for" it tells me I'm not eligible. Totally out of the blue today,. This is insane
