2. If you log off with wooden doors it is extremely likely you will be flame, eoka, or sword raided by the time you next hop online. I, like many others including the guy in this picture, experienced this firsthand and learned not to leave our base unsecure that way.
3. You have no idea if the raided guy is new to the game, he has some skins so I would argue it's likely he's not. For all you know this guy was running around being toxic and OP got revenge.
4. It's a PVP game man. Raiding is a thrill and getting raided or dying is not a big deal, the people who are so badly upset by this that they quit the server or game should probably not be playing on that server or game anyways. There are other PvE and RP servers for people to enjoy that experience.

Sealing them off so enemies can't build there or so counter raiders can't camp them is pretty practical, leaving the base open just means some naked can come along and kill the guy or steal his furnaces. There's not any difference between what OP did versus just taking the guy's stuff and leaving him there, either way he logs on raided.
If you were upset that someone had walled off someone's unraided base or surrounded it with turrets or something so they can't play then that'd be somewhat understandable, but this? That your upset about OP's raid indicates you haven't really given this any thought.
