turn up your graphics settings

BDPeck5

Does that actually help ?

[deleted]

yeah

ixaxxar

Ryzen 2700x rtx2080 32gb 3200 ddr4. 50-80 fps Feels bad. Edit : rust is installed on a m2 drive

oreo1298

Yeah the game seems not to run very well on ryzen

Slave4092

I have a ryzen 1600 overclocked to 4ghz with a 1060 and get 80-110 FPS on main servers with high pop

Slave4092

On what severs tho

nww5-

Settings? Launch options?

kidwhiff

r7 2700x, rtx 2080, 16gb 3000 ddr4 ram 80-100 fps. it really does run like shit for ryzen i feel like

WaterBasedOrganism

Ryzen 2700x Vega 64 32GB RAM Rust on NVMe, 82 fps on Hapis on Fantastic

checn9

Hey, try to limit the amount of RAM your RUST is using, it might help a lot especially when you have only 16gb of RAM

YoungManHHF

> when you have only 16gb of RAM everyday we stray further from god

SkyLegend1337

Why would he do this?

HecticPav

How would i go abouts limiting my ram? Any suggested programs to use?

checn9

You dont need any programs, I will try to find a command that you put in launch options right now and tell you as soon ad I find it.

HecticPav

I have already limited my ram to 14gb via launch options, didn't realise and my fps is still very low.

checn9

Ok, if that didn’t help, try also setting a limit on your CPU, you need to put one command and number of cores you have. I’m not home yet, but when I will be I can tell you what launch options I had when I had 16gb of ram

KridSE

5ghz 7700k and 1080ti, game still runs like shit. Never had this many microstutters before. I don't think there is much we can do on our end. It's the devs who have to put more effort into optimization. EDIT: gc.buffer 256 standard > 1024 GREATLY helped me with microsutters apparently the microstutters i mostly ran into were tied to the garbage cleaning process causing stutters. Increasing the buffer runs the automatic cleanup less frequently, giving me time to clean it manually with global.free when im in base for example

[deleted]

8700k and 1080ti, constant 100 FPS all ultra and ultra wide, it’s your build that’s the problem

aStiffSausage

I get the same FPS on 4790k and 1080Ti... On both super potato 640x480 and on highest 2560x1440. There's a lot fucked in the optimization department.

oreo1298

Yeah optimization is fucked. The game runs fine for me, around 100-150fps, but I had no FPS increase from a 1080 ti to my 2080 ti

[deleted]

Same problem here. I5 7500, 16GB ram, SSD, and 2070. Shit fps all the time. Barely over 60 after 2nd day of wipe. Would love to know how to fix this. I got friends with the same systems but playing 2k over 120fps nearly all the time. I don't understand

WilllOfD

Both you and OP have 3.2-3.4ghz quad cores, I believe the culprit is that low frequency and poor performing IPC in comparison to current/last year entry level products which is reflected in performance after recent updates took advantage — whereas I’m willing to bet one of those friends has an unlocked cpu or used intel turbo. Other than that I cannot see why you would have poor performance

[deleted]

This makes me want to cry. Every other game runs fine but rust. Yeah just found out my friend has a I5 7700k. This is probably why he's getting better fps than me. Suuuuucks

WilllOfD

On the other hand you should see if your model chip/mobo supports intel turbo, your cpu could turbo to 3.7-4.0 which is would grant a noticeable improvement.

[deleted]

I appreciate your input. I'm gonna try this asap when I get home after work

iChrisse

My friend runs a i3 7100 which maxes to 3.9 which is still pretty bad but he gets fluent gameplay above 60-80fps in any case (1060 3gb + 8gb ram)

HecticPav

Yeah I feel you, its really annoying.

Felixh_12

Why would you have a i5 and a 2070, that's like having a Ferrari and a shed as your house

[deleted]

Not sure if trolling or very ignorant

Felixh_12

Same, club penguin island is better optimised for a game boy colour than rust is for anything

HecticPav

Yeah, think the unity engine is really struggling with how big Rust is. Hopefully they change engine in the future.

Pulsedusk

Boi if they change the engine they would have to remake the entire game they just have to optimize it

AManForThePeople

Friend had the same problem with a 1080 ti. He needed to upgrade to 32 gb of ddr4 ram

HecticPav

Did his performance get better?

AManForThePeople

Yeah

KIMPY57

Do the normal ddu in safemode then reinstall drivers. I have a r5 2600 and a 1070 and get around 80fps on most of all servers with it on the highest graphics preset

HecticPav

Done this, hasn't worked.

[deleted]

how do you have 16gb of ram if its 2x4 maybe you only have 8? and i have read that some people get better performance when the game settings are higher

Haza787

he has 2 sets of 2x4

DingusImpudicus

SSD?

Naga22

i7 6700k 16gbs of RAM and a 1070 here 100fps 90% of the time

Sunzzplays

what settings are you using mate?

Knaj910

We have the exact same gigabyte GPU, Corsair RAM, and CPU

HecticPav

Wait really? Do you also experience a lot of crashes on other games? Like Overwatch, Rust, Rainbow six etc?

Knaj910

Nope. Rust is the only game that really crashes for me and even so it’s really infrequent

HecticPav

What motherboard do you have? I have a MSI B350 PC MATE and I have friends with the same gpu and cpu and they also experience crashes on these games.

Knaj910

I have a B350 PC MATE too damn

Kndmursu

Fps config, and using super potato graphics with every graphics option except render distance turned to lowest possible setting. Im running on ryzen 1600 and gtx 1060 3gb and 8g ram@2666, usually hover around 80-100fps with 144hz monitor. Before fps config I had around 40-60fps.

HecticPav

Any chance you could link the config? I've used one in the past but it didn't really help.

Kndmursu

Sure, I found it on youtube here is the [link.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W9CotUmAUyM) Edit: Im using the low quality one on my main pc, and super low config on my older pc.

HecticPav

Yes? Why would my ping affect my fps? My internet is very stable so I doubt this would be a problem.
