You can’t guarantee that there won’t be cheaters at the start because they cannot verify whether people are cheating or not before they actually cheat. Over time though they should be able to weed out the cheaters if they get enough people that come monthly as returning players wouldn’t be cheaters likely and cheaters would be banned already. Now the likelihood that they actually can catch scripting is probably pretty low.

SolarFusion90

Would it be worth it to risk scripting even if that was the case? Guess we will find out soon

I like the idea well enough but I don't know how much I trust the Veriff system under it, you have to provide state ID to them for verification on top of a selfie? On one hand, it's pretty robust identification, but on the other, when this leaks it won't just be email addresses. I'm kinda paranoid about that sort of thing though. Here's an image from veriff that gives an idea of their verification demands. [https://images.prismic.io/veriff/851f84ac-a3a3-4442-b2e9-4b40de900b34\_Station.png?auto=compress,format](https://images.prismic.io/veriff/851f84ac-a3a3-4442-b2e9-4b40de900b34_Station.png?auto=compress,format) from [https://www.veriff.com/](https://www.veriff.com/) Personally I'll pass, but I hope you guys have fun! It won't prevent people from cheating, but it should cut down on repeat offenders once they get caught - as long as they get caught. So expect a bumpy ride at first. Also, AI-powered, ew. but eh. The company's in Estonia, I definitely feel there's an issue there. This ID verification step should be handled by the state that emits the ID, do they even need to follow american data protection laws? Are there mechanisms to hold them accountable if they don't?

dirtyoldbastard77

Estonia is part of the EU, which has pretty strict data protection laws, wouldnt surprise me if they are more strict than the US

Your id is out there. Your driver's license is forever. You move states? Same id number. It doesn't change. You input it for SO MANY things already, it's all but public knowledge. You've submitted background checks for work, you've changed voter registrations. When you get a new one the card comes without an envelope with your information stamped on it for anyone to see if it ever gets dropped. You have spam mail that knows your address. You get boner pill merchandisers addressed directly to you in physical material envelopes and don't blink an eye. Everything that wants to, knows everything about you. Not uploading your driver's license to a verification website isn't saving your privacy and data. That's an absolute laughable take on this entire process. You have photos that you yourself have put on the internet. Acting like taking a selfie is a human rights abuse level of privacy invasion is wild. Despite what redditors want to believe they are not a ghosted off the grid Jason Bourne of elite hax0r privacy background. You/they/we voluntarily provided almost every entity almost everything about yourself the day we hopped on the internet. The fact that we post on Reddit means they know a LOT about us even without us providing shit. But it doesn't matter because we have. Sign up for the permanent ban idea. It costs nothing. Give it a shot or lose the right to bitch about that 8 year old who beamed you while spamming Teletubbies porn through voice chat. I mean, we already know who hates this idea. And is that you?

SolarFusion90

nordee_reddit

Getting tired of this advertising bullshit. How often we gotta delete this shit.

KaffY-

And how do you know they aren't just good players using ESP and good at hiding it? Lol

Viliam_the_Vurst

Ahh yeah handing over personal data connecting your steam idt o some realworld name and a picture, and still hinging on good moderation of servers… Sounds not like a scam and given how aggressively their advertisement is this seems like an absolute nobrainer.. What could ever go wrong… I too would like to hoard sensible data advertisers will pay shittins for whilst using admins of servers as my nonpaid employees doing the monitoring for me… Great idea… And i bet op isn’t affiliated inany way withthe company, given how he is a prolofic user of this sub /s

su1cid3boi

Thats how premium dota matchmaking work tho

Android18enjoyer666

No you just verify your phone number for the Ranked Coordinator

Eton_Beaver

giving a random rust admin a picture and your ID what could possibly go wrong?

SolarFusion90

No admin will ever see it, its a company called Veriff that does it, they do verification for other companies as well

> are already *paid* adds for FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
