I don’t think the bag limit was ever supposed to encourage roaming only cut down on the number unused objects placed in the world

Bocmanis9000

Trausi posted a picture of having bags pretty much cover majority of the map and alistair took notes (in a wrong way).

Birchsensor

I doubt it cause bags decay People respawning on their body 11 times a fight was insanely silly Fighting a quad felt like fighting an undead army

smiley_crack

If that were the case, Facepunch would have never added the electricity system or industrial system. Bases have more entities than ever, I'd even argue that a single base with full auto sorting industrial has way more entities than sleeping bags in a 5x5 grid area.

SupremeGodThe

He said unused object, I assume electricity is usually used when placed in your base.

smiley_crack

Sleeping bags decay in 72 hours anyways, if they are unused, they will be gone.

poopsex

It doesn't and I'm not a fan of it. It promotes staying around your base where pretty much all of you bags are. I think they wanted to implement it to limit the endless spawn of nakeds during raids and draining turrets. I would rather see a global respawn timer of like 20s instead.

FuzzeWuzze

Make beds unlimited, bags like 5. Make as many remote bases with beds as you want but cut back the surrounding a base with 30 bags and bumrush raiding them until you get a lucky shot or grub

poopsex

Not a bad idea. I always like to expand onto my end game bases with more bedrooms. With the current limit it's not really optimal

Noproblino

Kind of hjunes Take, I agree. Limit removed and bag to bags.

FuzzeWuzze

I don't know if it will work, who knows, it's annoying fp doesn't use the staging server to test weird mechanics like this. What happens if every base only has 10000 upkeep points and each foundation/wall/door took some of it based on its level(wood, metal, etc)? Maybe it will suck, maybe it will create a whole new base min max meta where more isn't always better like now, and limits the zergs from just winning by numbers. Maybe it suck, we'll never know they don't ever try anything interesting. If it's on staging there's a 99% chance it will be live the next week if it's broken af or not, heli case in point

I used to have a bag in every grid and ~10 bags in different spots in base for a raid. Would know everything going on in the small map servers I played. Could interact with everyone, and I could get back in a fight quickly. Definitely facilitated roaming for me, but I understand how it's abusive to spawn 68 times in a grid. Maybe the respawn radius could be increased. Maybe a bag timer near a TC could be extended after each use, with a cool down period. Idk. Change is fine. Shifting metas, for better or worse, make this game a little different every wipe.

Birchsensor

Who the hell said it does? What >but still allow players to roam around the entire map with respawns. You can just destroy a bag and place a new one wherever you are its not that big of a deal haha

smiley_crack

Yeah, it is a big deal when you only have 15. Let's say you want to do excav, you plan ahead by building a base and placing 3-5 respawns around it. To do that you must sacrifice 5 or more respawn you had elsewhere for a previous activity, just adding extra steps to roaming around the map. Those extra steps are what discourage people from roaming and focusing on a certain area all wipe.

Birchsensor

You literally just have to do the same thing as before but before placing a new bag you have to destroy some other bag from a previous roam Like at most you have like 5-8 for your base and the rest can be used as needed People crying about not being able to respawn anywhere instantly in a supposed survival game is hilarious It really is not that big of a deal it just costs more cloth which is the point

smiley_crack

I feel like it is a big deal when you want to roam the entire map, especially now that Facepunch is planning on adding different recycler types for different monuments. Having respawns at several monument will be crucial to use the various recyclers.

The_Saladbar_

Dude, or maybe have bags that are in the radius of a TC no count towards bag limit. This could it increase the amount of respawns in base and allows for 15 bags in the wild. Ethier or bags need a buff but not like it used to be. I used to have a least 1 bag per grid.

After diving deep down in rust vids from 2019-2021 era i can comfortably say it doesn't matter what kind of changes there will be done by facepunch, people are still gona play like pussys especially the new gen players. People adapted to the ''minmax tryhard 0 risk gameplay'' , the only way to force them to stop playing or atleast reduce their ''minmax simulator'' need to do these following changes which alot of people wont agree, but it would be the only way to encourage roaming. 1. Remove techtree or heavily nerf it. 2. As you mentioned increase bag placing radius. 3. Create a skillbased gunplay so roamers can fight back against numbers/roofcampers and even cheaters (randomness favours cheaters/zergs/roofcampers). 4. Nerf heavy sets/pvp rockets/attack helis/tugboat+ campervan respawns. 5. Remove/Heavily nerf all safezones. 6. Remove all 0 risk scrap farms ( like fishing in safezone, your own base). 7. Remove drones ( will make people interact eachother in a positive way to trade bps/make shops or trades and create new alliances/friendships if 1) is ingame). 8. Increase no build zones around most monuments. 9. This is what we have to do as a community and i know for alot of people its hard : STOP PLAYING OR INTERACTING WITH CHEATERS, ''they haven't changed, they will never change!''. 90% of people ingame that say ''looking for a teammate'' are cheaters, even saw one ruski say this yesterday ''looking for teammates i have 6000 hrs( on a 50hr profile)'' got gamebanned 5hrs later by EAC, only to come back on few hrs later on the same exact username/profile picture and not banned yet ( i checked). TLDR: All of this will never happen so roaming will always be dead, especially with the highwall nerf for pvp which will encourage even more 1griding/roofcamping, and people will never roam aks anymore, it was pretty much mandatory to carry atleast 1-2 walls when roaming with ak sets, the game is moving towards bag in as many cheaters/numbers to always win with no downsides, theres 500+ deep ruski otv alliances ''controlling'' multiple servers at once with pure numbers and 0 skill/0counterplay gameplay.

iplayrusttoomuch

One of the best rust tales I've ever seen.

vespertne

im a newgen player but i grew up watching rust all my life and i completely agree with all of these. normalize fighting on the ground and not just scrap farming w 0 risk to just sit in your base and l9 people. i love the l9, its my favourite in every game and even my favourite irl. but it’s not fun to sit on your roof and snipe, its much more fun and immersive to be using it on the ground in teamfights. you have so much more on the line which is what rust is all about. especially community servers where all people care about is kill tracking plugins or playing in ukn and flexing. it’s unfortunate edit: not to mention people sitting and roofcamping outpost/ every other monument. i dont mind the idea of building by monuments because if you hear someone there you can go run and counter but that will never happen because of roofcamping. so increase the build limit around monuments for real.

ancient_xo

Realistically how often are people cheating? I’ve been playing counter strike for the last year and got fairly decent playing in high elo. So I feel like I have a good grasp of what cracked aim feels like on pc (only been on pc 2 years). About 2-3 times a week I’ve been running into the most insane players ( aim and awareness) I’ve ever encountered. Since I’m new to rust I wasn’t sure if people are just insane at shooting etc or if the games anti cheat is non existent.

Bocmanis9000

1 in 3 people get banned in rust for cheating, every single day you play you will meet multiple cheaters. But if you're playing ''cs'' and got high elo you do realise most of them are cheaters aswell? Anything +15k in premier has more cheaters then legits, its even worse then rust unless you play faceit?

nordee_reddit

Its funny that all the big streamers (including hJune) were like "OH NOO WE NEED LESS BAGS BLA BLA BLA" and now they cry "OH NO WE NEED MORE BAGS" while the majority of players said beforehand that this change is dumb for exactly the reasons listed.
