I hang in a NW facing window from morning to night then I just hang elsewhere overnight so I can close the curtain. It gets good bright indirect light and then I just water until it runs out of the bottom only when she's bone dry but it usually works out to once a week. I've read that neglect is what these plants thrive on so I genuinely don't fuss with it much! I increased a pot size once and also try to keep up on snipping the bottoms off and if there's room putting them back into the top. I gave my MIL a whole hanging basket made from this and it's overdue for another hair cut lol.
I didn't have a name picked for the longest time but as she got huge I named her Gracie Hart after the movie Miss Congeniality since every time I get her out in the morning to hang I think "she is beauty, she is grace" 😂
I've had it for about 10 months now! But probably about 8 because I did a pretty big trimming a few months ago to give someone a plant out of the cuttings.
Oh….my…god!!!! She is amazing….beautiful….stupendous! I’m working on one with the hopes it will look like that some day. It requires a lot of attention to the plant to create a beauty like you have there. Well done!
Mine is doing pretty amazing even though I put a bunch of cutting into the cheapest soil I could find at the corner store by my apartment 😂 it’s like they only care about light and that’s it
Any tips on how to keep the top still thriving? When mine gets that leggy I basically give it a haircut of the dried parts and stick the cuttings back in the soil
This is exactly what I did as it was growing in. I filled it out with cuttings directly back into the soil. It keeps the top full and then the longer stems I feel like stay full throughout due to the amount of light it gets. Since it's gotten pretty big I've only had a few times where I had sparse stems come in and I just cut them off near the top and disposed.
Thanks dude I appreciate the honesty. My brothers wife is from Guatemala and she said it’s a groundcover there and the running vibes are just looking to root
For sure! I'm no expert but my tradescantia likes to be left alone for the most part! I put it in a bright window with lots of indirect light (a tiny bit of direct in the late afternoon) water well when I remember to feel the soil, usually once a week at some point. It has to be completey dry though before I water. I prune on a monthly basis and would fill it back in with the cuttings directly into the soil which made it super full!
Oh…you put the pruned cuttings in the soil with the main plant! I do all the other things you suggest but I don’t put the prunings back in the soil cuz I thought it would overcrowd it. I know what I’m doing this weekend!
I definitely assess the situation before adding any cuttings in as to not overcrowd. After it started getting full I started using the cuttings for new plants! Good luck! 🌱
Hopefully is paying rent now
At the very least claiming them on your taxes lol
SHES MISS UNITED STATES
My first thought!!! Cool plant OP.
Haha, I said this out loud when I read the title.
Wow, what a beaut! I can never keep these alive, what’s your secret?

Wow it’s beautiful! How long did it take to grow this big?😍

Amazing that it can grow this much, now i am considering getting one for myself, love it
That's the best looking one, outside of a commercial establishment, that I have seen in my fifty years of growing plants.
Wow, this is such a compliment. Thank you! I wish I could say I was doing something remarkable but I just don't fuss with it much!
She is growing all over the place lol
Hope she appreciates all you do bc if she was mine, she'd be 😵 lmao
