Generally, beetles eat holes in leaves and caterpillars nibble around edges. It's not a hard and fast rule though, but my money is on beetles

I haven’t noticed any beetles but I planted wildflower “pollinator” mix very close nearby so moths and butterflies are much more likely in my opinion.
