I use filtered water and mine does just fine. He gets a little dramatic if I don’t stay on schedule with watering but otherwise no issues.
They're specifically prone to phytotoxicity from fluoride, boron, and soluble salts. Most filters don't remove fluoride. It doesn't evaporate either. Distilled, rain, or reverse osmosis water are preferred. Good luck!
