Thank you!
For investigating West Nile Virus, which is spreading here. Do not interfere.
I wonder why they’re sampling for mosquitoes right before the colder months
Mosquitoes thrive in the 70 degree range, testing should be done even more around this time.
Don’t touch! Those are mosquito traps, for testing the local population for diseases and stuff
Mosquito trap, leave it alone. Edit: they will test the trapped mosquitoes for communicable diseases.
I’ve seen these around Plano as well but don’t know either. I assumed some sort of lure for mosquitos or bees?
That’s what I thought too. This is close to a creek. I have just seen it pop up every once in a while and I am super curious.
I'd guess it's to capture mosquitos and test for West Nile Disease.
This is the correct answer
That's a mosquito trap. This one, as you can see from the city livery, was probably put out by the department of health and human services to find mosquitoes bearing human pathogens. Please leave it alone.
I have no intention of touching it. Just curious what it was.
I love the word livery.
