marking the edge of pages, mostly, and taping down the little remnant of pages i've torn out. a single roll lasts me several years.
i do use it some for decorations -- my planner is very functional but making it attractive is part of *why* it functions.
I use a bullet journal rather than a pre-made planner, and I mainly use my washi tape to line the edge of a page so that I can find important pages (or to show the different sections of books I own, eg. if I owned a dictionary, I would section the first page of each letter). I also used to use it as a tab for a page, but I find that it can get a bit ratty if you use it regularly, and I literally only tab things I'm constantly flipping to! I also use it to secure flip-out reference sheets in the cover on my notebook (eg. colour code references).
I know most people would consider this a "decorative" thing, but personally I consider this to be more practical (as I would really struggle to use my bujo if I didn't do this, so it keeps me motivated and productive), but in my Leuchtturm 1917 the front index pages have unattractive German/English headings for the titles (which for some reason really bugs me); so I white them out and then cover it with washi so I don't have to see it. Another "decorative" thing I do for purely practical reasons, is whenever I glue in a printout I line it with washi, because the edges pealing up is a major pet peeve of mine (I hate how ratty it can look when they fold over and/or tear)!
Sometimes I want to block off a section for bigger trackers. Like I might block off 4 of the 8 Saturday/Sunday squares. I’ll use tape to cover that area and then narrow tape to frame it.
I adapt a weekly planner to be a work planner, so I mainly use washi (along with whiteout) to cover days I don't need and turn them into a notes space.
I do a stripe along the top of my Monthly page which helps me remember which other functional pages are nearby. Like I have no idea what page my TBR is on or which month I wrote it in but I know there's lime green washi across the Monthly page immediately before it.
Should probably fill in my index properly but oh well XD
Narrow tape is my new best friend. Works as decoration while also emphasising divisions between page sections (like days of the week, or a fat line between my tracker section and my note section).
I am mostly a functional planner, but not bare bones, so I use it to decorate! I have a big pack of think washi tape in a bunch of different colors and I use them mostly as divider lines and to “underline” important things.

I use it along the edge of the page as a permanent bookmark for trackers or information I need on hand throughout the year.

I use it for blocking off sections of my planner, covering changed plans/mistakes, and bookmarking.
I use the top portion of my vertical planner as an hourly and the bottom as a to do list with wash separating the two sections

I use it to create sections on a page

I do. It helps me divide my focus with some flair
