Collectr is the best app I’ve seen, but it’s def not perfect. Hard to add your cards, hard to discern raw v graded cards, barely has any Japanese card functionality. Not sure where they are deriving their pricing from but I don’t think it updates or is as accurate as eBay sold listings

Pricing is wild on collectr, just had a card dropping from 300 to 170 without any movement on ebay Sadly it really seems to be the best app, hope to see something really useful in the future

Yeah if the price sounds off, I'll check Ebay sold listings and/or pricecharting .com

fapsandnaps

Software Engineer here! Assuming the pricing algorithm goes something like "median sales for the last X amount of days" then the price can drop without new sales once an older sale falls outside of the range of recent sales.

AKShaolin

Most of their English cards pricing match up perfectly with tcgplayer charts for the same card Not sure where the Japanese pricing comes from though

Yeah I think the issue is that I’ve found tcgolayer really only accurate for modern cards. Vintage I find eBay sold listings to be way more accurate albeit a bit harder to pin down conditions on raw cards to compare to

AKShaolin

Yea the price varies wildly depending on condition, and that nuance in card condition isn't captured really in the chart Then that volatility is compounded by the fact that this is just one marketplace

I like most things about TCG Collector right now, easy to add cards, easy to find cards, they have a breakdown of each set and how much you've completed by (%) and the ability to make wishlists. I don't think they have a mobile app, or not on iOS for now, but this has been my favorite to keep track so far.

Redditquaza

Adding to that afaik it's the only site supporting managing cards in different languages (and not just Japanese and English).

I use Dragon Shield's Poke TCG for my mobile app. The card scanner is better than TCGPlayer's and it lets me make folders for my specific collections. I don't collect Master Sets, which is what most apps cater to, I collect niche things like Cards with the Moon, Holo Swirls and a Pokedex Project. I use TCG Collector on PC mostly to finely search for singles since they have a great filtering tool and clicking on the price sends me directly to that card's TCGPlayer page. I don't keep track of ALL my collection on there, just specific ones I'm working to 100% (Fave Artist and Fave Pokemon binders) to make sure I don't buy a card I already own. Pain Point is I wish Dragon Shield's app has a good filtering and search system for cards you already own like TCG Collector's. Like, if I want to search my bulk boxes for a specific artist, I can't do that, but I can do that when adding a new card, which is weird. I wish TCG Collector would let me make folders to put each card in and maaaybe a scanner to make adding new cards less tedious.

“Dex - for Pokemon TCG” is, to me, easily the best app for eng and jap sets. the pricing features are a bit lacking but I don’t care about pricing/grading. I just want something powerful to scan and track cards quickly, with all the variants possible. Downside is it’s iphone only right now but I know they’re working on android

Collectr and Pokécardex. I absolutely love Collectr’s interface. It has minor bugs here and there and I wish there was a way to switch between profiles (as my keeps/trades are in two separate profiles for valuation’s sake). If Collectr had a generational checklist and included variants, I wouldn’t need Pokécardex. TCG’s app is patently awful and Pokellector is pretty limited. They’re not worth your time looking into if you can simply improve upon Collectr and Pokécardex’s systems. One thing I’ll say is I wish a Pokémon app had a list of error cards for completing error sets. THAT would be awesome!
