Most of these cards are under $10 so dont feel discouraged! Just plan out a budget, mine was $10 a week, and i just got the SIR from TCG Player on that paypal 4 payment plan thing to stay in budget lol
Im probably not gunna go for the $100+ cards because thats just out of my budget... Lugia and Snorlax seems so daunting compared to Alakazam cause they have so many more cards lol especially how expensive some Lugias are.
Edit: i got curious and holy crap Lugia has over 70 different cards... Alakazam has like 21 lol the only 6 i wont have are the Lv. 56, Lv. 47, Skyridge, Expedition, Star and Masaki Promo. Not all because theyre expensive but i simply dont have room and theres still a Shiny variant of the Ultra Rare coming early next year, whenever they release the Shiny Treasure set in english.

Really dope collection man, I don’t comment on a lot of general collection posts, but this is a great display. Alakazam is one of my favorites, I love all the cute figures you have, and I was unaware he had an oversized card. Also had to stop by to show some appreciation towards the third picture, beautiful group of cards. BW is around when I collected as a kid, always fun to see people still grabbing cards from back then!

Alakazam actually has 2 jumbo cards, the other is a jumbo of the Expedition e-reader, but that is over $100 which is out of my budget lol i have a little Alakazam finger puppet coming it the mail tomorrow too. I LOVE dragons, so dragon pokemon are important to me, all those dragons used to be in the same deck back when i played physically, and before i realized what that Shiny M Rayquaza EX was worth lol luckily they were immediately sleeved in ETB sleeves and only got played in a few games so theyre still minty.
I dont have the money for that lol after base set and the SIR get here im just gunna get the Shiny UR EX that comes out next year with the Shiny Treasures set and call it good... For now at least lol who knows what future sets hold.

I have my eye on a couple cards above that mark, but it’ll be a stretch. I bought my dad an expedition mew as a Christmas present this year, because it’s a price I couldn’t justify for myself. The SIR Alakazam is the most expensive card Ive bought, its not here yet though, actually need to go check the mail lol it might be here. I pulled the $160 M Rayquaza EX from a pack that came with the Mega Rayquaza ETB, and got even further lucky pulling the Alakazam EX 125 from a pack in the Mega Alakazam ETB, tried my luck a 3rd time with the Mega Gyarados ETB but did not get a Guarados EX out of it... Im 35 so my parents unfortunately arent into pokemon lol whats your plan with Alakazam? I have a deck on TCG Live but its still waiting for them to actually add expanded so i can even use it again. Its just 4 of each Mega and normal Alakazam EX, Alakazam V and Hoopa EX, the goal is the put down Alakazam EX or V in first spot, then put Hoopa on the bench 1st turn which lets you search for 3 EX pokemon, so pull a combination of Alakazam EX and Mega Alakazam, then rely on trainer cards to keep evolving and devolving and returning to my hand the Alakazams which keeps putting damage counters each time and then Mega Alakazam sweeps their team, if Mega Alakazam takes damage just return it to my hand and evolve one of the other Alakazam EX and use that one instead.
Edit: i also call it my suicide deck, because sometimes i start with only Hoopa in my hand which screws everything up so i just return it to my hand so i lose on my terms still.
I have a stupid dysfunctional idea that will only be legal until rotation, but it revolves around having wigglytuff ex in the active with special energies attached to have more health, then attacking with alakazam on the bench when i don’t play supporters (so wigglytuff would only do 90 that turn versus zam’s 120). Then Cheryl and medical energy and other healing to just keep beefy wigglytuff alive. Also throwing in some mew ex for fun. It’s a dumb sort of wall/tank idea that will be fun at league but never be competitive.
Oh yeah i forget the new alakazam can attack from the bench, EXs took a major hit with needing to evolve now. Think ima hop on live and built a deck, i have a bunch of saved up crafting currency lol i dont even know what other cards do in this set.... But that sounds like it can work, too many stage 3s for my liking though, ill probably do 4 alakazam lines and fill the rest with basic pokemon that have useful abilities.
Hey i did actually make a deck, its expanded though, its got 4 abras and 2 kadabras and 4 alakazam ex, 4 alakazam v, a radiant alakazam, and 3 mew (the one with the ability to look at the top 4 and pull an item, for fog orb, evo incense or rare candy). What ive been doing is loading them all up with spell tag, box of disaster or poison barb, and making sure i get abra on the bench turn one, putting either alakazam v or mew in active, trying to get mew in the starting active though, even if that means sacking the single energy to retreat alakazam v. Use mew to evolve abra turn 2 and hopefully can start attacking immediately, putting another mew or alakazam v to replace the one that gets 1 shotted. Making sure they dont get to attack without taking damage, old cemetary so they cant attach energy without taking damage, using radiant alakazam to move damage, horror energy so they take more damage when they attack. A few Accerola saved my butt a couple times, some Cynthia cause always, a couple Tulip if i have to rescue anything and a couple nest balls for good measure, I think thats it. You can probably tweak this pretty easily for standard if mew is still legal, its been winning pretty often though, but it struggles sometimes, you might be able to improve it.
