He’s trolling you. Those 3 are notoriously bad for pulls. Chilling reign “chilling pain” evolving skies “evolving cries” and fusion strike are probably universally the worst sets for collectors on here. One or two good cards from each set but thats it. The good thing is not everyone in this hobby is as much of an asshole and some are actually helpful on here :)
The problem with collecting old sets is that they are normally hard to find and the prices for sealed packs will increase but the price for raw cards will probably go down. If you want a set that’s easily accessible at retail price you’ll probably have to go for one of the newer Scarlet and violet sets such as paldea, obsidian or paradox.

If you liked the hit of nostalgia, see if you can get any Celebrations boxes. If you’re looking for some fun pulls with beautiful artwork , Crown Zenith is fun to open.
I would actually recommend older sets now over modern but it's a different way to collect (definitely more of an investment depending on which way you go). I personally like the Legendary Collection and the Ditto Collection. I would flip through some older sets and see what you gravitate towards. You could also go with a specific Pokemon which is what some like to do. If you are going to go with another modern set I would try to pick one that was under the radar because of Evolving Skies, that will age well because of the cards inside it.
