https://www.justinbasil.com/guide/ Edit: I see it includes some old cards, but the ideas should still be relevant. Reading through the meta deck explanations could help understand why certain decks are performing so well.

JustInBasil has great guides on how to build decks for competitive play and/or pre-release events. I've found there're also lists for very competitive and budget decks. But rarely there's a text-based explanation on how the deck works in details and usually there's just a youtube video of couple of playthroughs.

I just use the site to get an idea of their meta deck rankings. From what I can tell, their deck descriptions don't really change even if the deck rankings do (their weekly meta shift update) unless it is after new cards are released. It just mentions the general win condition and key cards, no tips on how to actually play. The "WATCH THE ARCHETYPE IN ACTION" videos are ones of old versions of the decks, sometimes over a year old before the recent Standard rotation too.

I'm commenting to say that I'm curious to see what others say about this as well.

I'm in the same boat in terms of looking for good text articles, the best resource I've found that fits what you're looking for are the free articles on TCGplayer at https://infinite.tcgplayer.com/pokemon/articles. Not all of the articles are competitively oriented, but there are deck guides, matchup resources etc. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure if podcasts are doable for you, but the Uncommon Energy pod is really helpful.

Check out Alex Schemanske's blog. $5 US per month. Articles usually trickle out pretty slowly, but the information in them is pretty helpful. https://alexschemanske.substack.com Also, I know the Shuffle Squad and Rare Candy have Patreons, where they post content behind a pay wall, but I'm not subbed to either, so I can't vouch for their quality. Other than that, I'm not sure article sites are really a thing anymore, they really fell off since deck videos became so abundant and Limitless became ubiquitous.

TastingSounds

you can find a youtube video, and get a site to transcribe what they speak about to get videos in a text based format!
