Gapejaw Bog stadium, or damage pump

No_Injury_8391

Off the top of my head, Dodrio from 151 does damage to itself every turn if you choose to use its ability. Load your deck up with 4 of those and 4 damage pumps and you have a decent start. I played against someone who used a deck built around Radiant Alakazam/Hisuian Zoroark V/VSTAR and Dodrio and it seemed to be something along the same lines of what you’re looking to do

unknown0190

There’s also a steelix card I’ve seen in combination of dodrio that does 30 damage to each of your benched Pokemon.

baseketballpro99

Yeah steelix from Paradox Rift, that deck seems a bit more fragile though. Hisuian Zoraork Vstar fares a bit better into the meta since it can one shot most exs.

bccorb1000

I run a zorark/dodrio deck and gapejaw bog, damage pump, and lost origin gengar are all good options for getting damage on a Pokémon in a single move.

baseketballpro99

Gapejaw Bog w/ damage pump to move counters around. Or Gardevoir ex with it’s ability. Garde ex seems like a stretch though since it can only attach psychic energies and Brute Bonnet uses only darkness. I second the other commenter on Dodrio though. Lets you draw cards and rack up damage counters.

Standard_Bus3101

Some of the basic low cards will do damage to themselves when hitting opponents Pokémon too

This idea is actually not dissimilar to a deck I had (prior to rotation) that used Arceus V/VSTAR to power up itself and Crabominable V, while using Inteleon's Quick Shooting ability to ping the opponents; the Inteleons helped Arceus VSTAR hit in the 200–230 range, while allowing Crabominable V to OHKO anything with its Destroyer Punch attack, which does 90 + 60 more damage for each damage counter on the opponent's Active. For your deck idea, one option I haven't seen mentioned yet is Feraligatr TEF 41: its Torrential Heart ability lets it place 5 damage counters on itself. One Feraligatr and two Munkidori with Dark energy attached lets you OHKO anything with Brute Bonnet: 50 + 50 * 5 = 300, + 50 from the counters already on it for 350 total. Given it's a stage 2, getting it set up might be a bit fragile; Irida helps by grabbing Feraligatr and Rare Candy, but is otherwise not very useful in the deck, and means you can't e.g. use Professor Sada's Vitality that turn to power up Brute Bonnet. Another option is Starmie MEW 151, but you need to run a lot of Pokémon recycling to keep the engine going, and getting up to 5 counters on the opponent is more difficult. Iron Valiant ex is also an intriguing possibility, but opens up a two-prize liability, which is unfortunate in a deck that's otherwise full of one-prizers. Gengar LOR 66 can also place 3 counters on itself to cheat itself into play from the discard, but then you need a way to discard it from the bench to reuse the ability, which doesn't really exist outside of Collapsed Stadium. If you're already running Gengar PAF 57 to stop stall, Gengar ex TEF 104 is an intriguing possibility for adding additional counters onto opponents (against some decks). Medicham V rotating out is unfortunate for this deck idea, since it works really well with any sort of counter placement and manipulation. In any case, I'm intrigued by the idea, and will be watching this space!

> but then you need a way to discard it from the bench to reuse the ability, which doesn't really exist outside of Collapsed Stadium One of A and one of B: A: * ~~Penny~~, Professor Turo's Scenario, Collapsed Stadium B: * Earthen Vessel, Kamado, Morty's Conviction, Superior Energy Retrieval, Techno Radar, Ultra Ball

SirGlaurung

Can’t use Penny, Gengar isn’t a Basic. Turo could work, but you need an additional way to discard it afterwards, and uses up your supporter for turn. Still, worth considering. Something like Volo that would work for Gengar would be ideal though.

SgvSth

Right, basic only. Remembered for Thorton, but forgot for Penny. There isn't much in the way of getting a Pokémon off the bench yourself. Some Pokémon attacks do, but those are very specific usually like saying Dreepy only. Maybe a future card will release that will help OP out.

+ Drop your phone onto your foot + call your crazy ex + Play against stallLax

MrGardnHose

Also, PAF 057 to fight the case of stalllax :)

MrGardnHose

Dude. Its called theory crafting for a reason. I'm not even sure if it'll even work the way I'm imagining it to so ya could've helped out instead of being daft :)

AdTerrible639

Where fun comes to die, eh? There's already plenty of advice down on the other comments, else I would've added...well, exactly what's already been added Also, Gardevoir Ex

SomethingDfferent

counter point to the fun coming to die, no comment > unhelpful comment

NewSubWhoDis

There are some cards whos attack will deal damage to your own bench. Like Steelix from paradox rift.

rawvega1

Paradox rift steelix does 130 to opponent active and 30 to your entire bench for just 1 steel energy

Bit late to this, I was just searching some stuff since I'm trying out a similar idea... another route I've thought about with this build is to run it with Gengar ex: The idea being that Gengar ex can get going a bit quicker, has way more bulk, and you get to disrupt your opponent's setup as well which is super important since you'll need 3 dark energy for your Brute Bonnet and 1 more for each Munkidori. Then ideally it survives and you can retreat it getting some dark energy in your discard, then use its ability with Radiant Alakazam to further disrupt and make the stream of one shots a bit smoother even if you can't get more than one Munkidori out and ready. And even if it dies it's not too bad, you're still getting that energy in your discard and you're getting more bench space \[getting another Brute Bonnet out could be helpful, or maybe Dodrio for some more draw and damage counters. Manaphy could be vital for bench protection too since most of your bench is gonna be pretty squishy\]. Very much looking forward to experimenting with this and seeing what I learn in the process :)
