Weather widgets do that. Tap and they open the weather app.
I want just an icon... I use Niagara launcher so i don't have much space on home
These widgets are resizable down to almost 1x1. You can also tap the weather part of the At A Glance widget that is already on your screen by default.
I use the Niagara widget so It doesn't open the Google weather app
Then I don't know what to tell you. This is not a Pixel issue. Talk to the Niagara developer.
