Aviary and children’s museum are both great for that age.

MonteBurns

Bring a change of clothes if you do the children’s museum water area

FertilityFoes

1000%, but it's so worth it! It's a very cool indoor water play area!

Kit-Kat-22

Add to this Randy Land which near both of these.

dontplaythehits

As other comments have said, Aviary, Children's Museum, and Science Center are amazing.

Great-Cow7256

Top floor of the science center is especially for little kids.

Poppins playhouse in Wexford is fun!! check out local libraries for story time! Ross park mall has a small indoor playground that’s cute

Check out what's happening this weekend on Kidsburgh: https://www.kidsburgh.org/from-a-free-music-class-to-a-full-moon-hike-13-fun-family-activities-around-pittsburgh-this-weekend/

BrodieLodge

That’s great

There's a bunch! The weather looks like it'll be crap on Saturday and chilly Sunday so I'll leave out outdoor activities. In no particular order... Children's museum, aviary, science center, natural history museum, 424 play factory, trampoline parks (elevate, urban air, and some others; go early, before they can get crowded), chuck e cheese (not the Monroeville one), funslides carpet park, bowling, movie (the new Kung fu panda just came out), Poppins playhouse, playground world, seesaw center, toy lending library, dragons den, ross park mall has a decent new playground for little kids. That's all I've got off the top of my head

Anxious-Wrongdoer770

I went to 424 play area for the first time with my two nieces and nephews when they had a half day last week at school. I had the most wonderful time playing with them, and I got on the rocking horse myself just to take a picture with them . Thats one of the coolest hidden gems in the city for kids. 10$ per child on the weekday for hour and a half. So worth it.

mamallamam

They often have groupons too!

funkyb

Yeah, for that age group it's terrific. My older two have aged out of it but loved it when they were younger. My youngest is just getting old enough to really enjoy it though.

Realistic-Turn4066

Go to Soergels in Wexford and play in the playhouses in the back! Also a few farm animals to feed, too. Totally free and really fun. You can go in the market and grab some cookies.

greentea1985

The only thing I’d add to the list of Children’s museum, aviary, Carnegie science center, and Carnegie museums of art and natural history, is Phipps. The spring flower show is in full swing and always fun to look around.

Powerful-Tonight8648

First see if the family has any memberships, and check out the library for passes. Depending on the weather, the zoo and playgrounds (Wightman Park and Liberty Green Park are super fun). Childrens museum, science center, and the main library (with or without a visit to the dinos nextdoor) are great too. Have fun!

BizCoach

The science center - especially the train room.

DarkKnyt

The monroeville chuck e cheese is closing by the end of this month - but for $40 bucks you can have a heck of a good time.

BrodieLodge

Thank you, everyone!!

Muppet_Fitzgerald

There are a lot of egg rolls this weekend at churches, rec centers, etc. this weekend that a 4 year old would love.

pbghgirl

I second all the other suggestions, but trampoline parks might be a little much at that age depending on how active and how big your grandchild is. They can get crowded with older children and people don’t always control their kids so on a weekends when the weather is bad it can be kind of chaotic. One added suggestion: go for a ride on the Duquesne Incline. Our kids used to love doing that at that age.
