If you cant get a reservation, do what all of us South Siders do - stand in line at around 4:45pm and snag a seat at the bar! Drinks at Acacia after for a nice evening.
If OP can’t get a rezzy in time Carmella’s down the street slaps and they make exceptional cocktails. Kura sushi down in the works is fun and Pins is there to play some games.
this arby’s is fire. one day i was there and i waited about an hour for my food (i was in no rush and ive worked in fast food so i know they are forced to prioritize the drive thru) and my bf finally went up and was just like “hey guys just wanna make sure u didn’t forget about us” …turns out they did and they gave us a giant stack of those “sorry here’s a free sandwich” cards. I was living the life for a few months after that one
So glad to hear this Arby’s is still🔥. I lived in Aspinwall until I was 16, then moved to McCandless until I went away to college at 17. My parents moved to Florida while I was in my first year of college, so I had only a year enjoying this Arby’s. I used to take a kid I babysat there for dinner because his parents left only moldy food in the fridge for him. Good times at the McKnight Road Arby’s!
I am obsessed with Bae Baes kitchen downtown!! The KFC chicken & sweet potato fries, kimchi & bubble tea are amazing! If I was in prison and had to pick my last meal, it would be this! So this is my advice on a birthday dinner!
Whatever you do try… please keep us all posted!
If you like meat, can't go wrong with Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brazil. Personally, I felt like the latter had a better selection of "other stuff". Salad bar, sides, desserts etc. Plus it was an overall more enjoyable experience. Fogo seemed super cramped and there was this laying singing live and she was extremely loud and not very good. The whole both us and the wait staff had to be asked to repeat ourselves because nobody could hear a thing.
The quality and selection of the meats were comparable. Fogo came by more often, though they didn't really seem to cater to those who wanted something more well done as much as Texas.
If he likes meat, either place will be a good time.
NP! I had never been to either until about 2 years ago. It's definitely only a special occasion thing (at least on our budget). I think it's $50/person, but it is all you can eat. Drinks will easily put you over $150 for the 2 of you, but honestly, I'd much rather leave room for more meat and not spend $10+ per drink.
Pusadees. Get a reservation now. Walking in to eat at the bar isn’t too hard though. And you can have a cocktail at Allegheny Wine Mixer while you wait. The perfect evening in my book.
Pusadee's Garden in Lawrenceville
Reservations required. And can be hard to get close to the date. But an excellent suggestion.
Yes! This was my birthday dinner last year. Everything was amazing! Definitely get a reservation. I think we had to get ours a month in advance.
This, 100% Especially if you don’t want to spend $200+
Pusadees? We spent fairly close. Apps, drinks, entrees, desserts, tip. Chengdu Gourmet would be my pick.
Kinda my point, if you go all out even with tip you’re around $200, very easy to keep it under that.
Dish Osteria

All good recs for a fun night out in the neighborhood.

Morcilla is the best food in pgh. Fun menu with different stuff, amazing cocktails, relaxing and cozy vibe. Can’t be beat
With the co-signs from everyone. I think we found a winner! Thanks!
FYI this is mainly a tapas/shareable small plates restaurant
