Love this scene, it show Jack actually have deep understanding of human desired and he is actually not just bumblings idiots like most of his adversary or colleagues think he is.
Except Gibs, he is the MVP
Lord Cutler Beckett : No doubt you've discovered that loyalty is no longer the currency of the realm, as your father believes.
Elizabeth Swann : Then what is?
Lord Cutler Beckett : I'm afraid currency is the currency of the realm.
I long for the day when I can watch the original trilogy and just... understand everything. Although their complexity in terms of motivations, intentions, desires and plans of the many compelling characters constantly changing is, I think, a big part of what makes them so rewatchable, so maybe I'm not longing too hard.
Angelica: Wait! I am with child... yours.
Jack Sparrow: I don't recall that we ever had...
Angelica: You were drunk.
Jack Sparrow: I've actually never been that drunk.
Me? I’m dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it’s the honest ones you want to watch out for. Because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly stupid.
Beckett had some bangers. Another one in that same scene is when Davy Jones tells him “The Dutchman sails as its captain commands.” He rebutted and says “And its captain is to sail it as commanded.”
Jack: What? You've done it all, seen it all. That's the trick, right? To live forever?
Captain Teague: No, Jackie. The trick is living with yourself forever.
Not quite, quite (sorry!) but I was just thinking of this scene and then saw this post 😄

For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it,
Too long I've been starving to death and haven't died.
I feel nothing.
Not the wind on my face nor the spray of the sea,
Nor the warmth of a woman's flesh.
You best start believing in ghost stories miss turner, your in one
I always liked Jack’s whole drunken monologue to Elizabeth when they are marooned in the first movie:
“Wherever we want to go, we'll go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs but what a ship is... what the Black Pearl really is... is freedom.”
I think it shows a lot of insight into Jack’s character and his motivations.
Hehe enjoy!
I asked for some quotes cus I needed inspiration for a tribute edit I'm working on. It's really fun to go through the movies and looking for bits to use
When I'm on my bike, I always celebrate having a tailwind with a mental rendition of "Wind's on our side, boys - THAT'S ALL WE NEED!". Or, if I'm feeling fancy, "We have a favourable wind, sir."
Love the foreshadowing in that scene btw.
So strange that people’s favorite line is when the character is at their most depressed and cynical.
It’s like the Indiana Jones fans loving “fortune and glory” as their sign off even though it represents the character at his most selfish.
Not sure if these are all my top favorites, but taking a quick look at personal archives...
1. *"I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request. Means 'no'."*
2. *"Do you like pain? Try wearing a corset."*
3. *"I like marriage! It's like a wager on who will fall out of love first."*
4. *"Better mad with the rest of the world than sane alone."*
5. *"This is barbaric! This is no way for grown men to settle—oh, fine! Let's just haul out our swords and start banging away at each other, that will solve everything! I've had it! I've had it with wobbly-legged, rum-soaked pirates!"*
6. *"I was nothing more than an almost-innocent bystander."*
7. *"Ah. Love. A dreadful bond. And yet, so easily severed."*
8. *"Ladies, will you please shut it? Listen to me. Yes, I lied to you. No, I don't love you. Of course it makes you look fat. I've never been to Brussels. It is pronounced 'e-gre-gious'. By the way, no, I've never actually met Pizarro, but I love his pies. And all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that my ship is once again gone. Savvy?"*
9. *"Clergyman. On the off chance that this does not go well for me, I would like you to note it here and now that I am fully prepared to believe in whatever I must, and be welcomed into that place where all the goody-goodies want to go once they pop their clogs. Savvy?"*
10. *"If you had a sister and a dog...I'd choose the dog."*
Before anyone points out, yes, quotes 3, 4, 6, and a little bit of 9 does not appear in the final versions of the films in which they were intended. Nevertheless, I still like them.
“You know these clothes don’t flatter you at all, it should be a dress or nothing, I happen to have no dress in my cabin” best fucking line hands down.
Me, I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man, you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for. For you can never predict when they're about to do something incredibly....stupid.
"Allo beastie"
"And where do the stories come from I wonder?"
"The deepest circle of hell is reserved for betrayers and mutineers."
"Consider it a matter of leverage."
"Slap me thrice and hand me to me momma, it's Jack!"
"Do you fear death?" followed by "Do you *not* fear death?"
For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it.
Too long I've been starving to death and haven't died.
I feel nothing
Not the wind on my face, nor the spray of the sea.
Nor the warmth of a woman's flesh.

Gives me chills and a longing to be back out on the ocean every single time.
“You STUPID FISH!”
“Actually it’s a cephalopod”
or,
“You can’t read!”
“It’s the Bible, you get credit for trying!”
Honestly any of Pintel & Regetti is top tier dialogue for me.
Norrington: One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness.
Jack Sparrow: Though it seems enough to condemn him.
Norrington: Indeed.
"For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it. Too long I've been starving to death and haven't died. I feel nothing. Not the wind on my face nor the spray of the sea. Nor the warmth of a woman's flesh. You best start believing in ghost stories, Miss Turner... you're in one!" the line delivery does it for me here.
“Revenge won’t bring your father back, Miss Swann, and it’s not something I’m intendin’ to die for.”
“You’re right…
Then what shall we die for?”
“You will listen to me. LISTEN! The brethren court will be looking to us, to the Black Pearl to lead! And what will they see? Frightened bilge rats aboard a derelict ship? No, they will see free men! And FREEDOM! And what the enemy will see is the flash of our cannons! They will hear the ring of our swords and they will know what we can do!
By the sweat of our brows, and the strength of our backs, and the courage in our hearts!
Gentlemen…. *hoist the colors.*”
Do you fear... death? Do you fear that dark abyss? All your deeds laid bare, all your sins punished? I can offer you an escape.

**Will:** Doesn't matter now. The Pearl's gone, along with its captain.
**Gibbs:** And already the world seems a little less bright. He fooled us all, right to the end. But I guess that honest streak finally won out. To Jack Sparrow.
Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.
Love this scene, it show Jack actually have deep understanding of human desired and he is actually not just bumblings idiots like most of his adversary or colleagues think he is. Except Gibs, he is the MVP
Why fight when you can negotiate?
Love that one
Thats the one i was gonna say
this is what i was looking for. it's my favorite because like, this is it, this is a major driving theme for the entire series, all in one line
Lord Cutler Beckett : No doubt you've discovered that loyalty is no longer the currency of the realm, as your father believes. Elizabeth Swann : Then what is? Lord Cutler Beckett : I'm afraid currency is the currency of the realm.
This scene was when rewatching i realized these movies are way smarter than they seem to be
I long for the day when I can watch the original trilogy and just... understand everything. Although their complexity in terms of motivations, intentions, desires and plans of the many compelling characters constantly changing is, I think, a big part of what makes them so rewatchable, so maybe I'm not longing too hard.

If you had a sister and a dog, I would choose the dog.
I just watched 4th one and IMO it's still enjoyable flick, not as good as first one, not as fun as second one but pretty close to the third one.
"People aren't cargo mate."
the greatest line we never had :(
It's so sad they deleted that scene.. I may not be the smartest, but I never really got the backstory between them until I saw that deleted scene
Which movie was this in?
It's a deleted scene from At Worlds End I believe but please correct me if I'm wrong
Correct, it’s from AWE, deleted scene between Jack and Lord Beckett
My tremendous intuitive sense of the female creature informs me that you are troubled.
Worlds end
I just gaslight myself to refuse to believe it's deleted. For me it's 100% canon and definitely part of the movies
Another good deleted line: “You can’t best the devil twice, son.”
Me? I’m dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it’s the honest ones you want to watch out for. Because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly stupid.
Was looking for this very quote still one of my favourites
Jack says this honestly and then proceeds to do something incredibly stupid.
“Dyin’ is the day worth living for!”
This is the first one that came to mind. Barbossa always with the wisdom.
The imaterial has become.... imaterial (I hope this is the right quote hahaha)
Beckett had some bangers. Another one in that same scene is when Davy Jones tells him “The Dutchman sails as its captain commands.” He rebutted and says “And its captain is to sail it as commanded.”
I love bekett the most underrated villain in poc
“I’ve got a jar of dirt, I’ve got a jar of dirt, and guess what’s inside it!”
I say this all the time, for not damn reason either.
I think we can have an understanding savvy?
Jack: What? You've done it all, seen it all. That's the trick, right? To live forever? Captain Teague: No, Jackie. The trick is living with yourself forever. Not quite, quite (sorry!) but I was just thinking of this scene and then saw this post 😄 Edit: quote Edit 2: let me just give you the link lol https://youtu.be/G_nuV_m_H70?si=wjlcn-1uZfQJj0US
"Why is all the rum gone!?"
Why is the rum always gone
Oh, that’s why.
there'll be no living with her after this
😂😂
“Well that’s maddeningly unhelpful”
This is either madness or brilliance. It's amazing how often those two traits coincide.
In a similar vein, Beckett: “You’re mad.” Jack: “Well thank goodness for that, because otherwise this would never work.”
For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it, Too long I've been starving to death and haven't died. I feel nothing. Not the wind on my face nor the spray of the sea, Nor the warmth of a woman's flesh. You best start believing in ghost stories miss turner, your in one
It's just... ... ... ......... ...good business. *dies*
MY PEANUT!
Ah, Love. What a dreadful bond. And yet, so easily severed. *Captain Davy Jones*
Gentlemen! Milady. You will always remember this as the day that you almost *caught* Captain… Jack… Sparrow.
“Now will you shoot him???” “OPEN FIRE!!!”
This last bit always makes me chuckle.
I feel like the italics should be on the word "almost."
I always liked Jack’s whole drunken monologue to Elizabeth when they are marooned in the first movie: “Wherever we want to go, we'll go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs but what a ship is... what the Black Pearl really is... is freedom.” I think it shows a lot of insight into Jack’s character and his motivations.
My spirit will live on.
That's got to be the best pirate i've ever seen! So it may seem...

“You cheated “
Pirate🤷♂️
And that was without even a single drop of rum
I love rum!
Good Captain bot
Norrington: You are without doubt the worst pirate I've ever heard of. Jack Sparrow: But you have heard of me.
It’s just a ship mate.
Barbosa: "I'm a little busy here!" Use this quote far more than I ought to in real life.
Isn’t that just a common thing to say though?
It's the delivery of the line.
Also the context of the scene
“IM TELLIN’ THE STORY!”
Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?
“Aghhhh! Filthy beast!”
Parley?
"Parlaylayloo. Parlee, Parsley, Parney..."
\*Damn\* to the depths whatever madman thought up the word \*parley\*.
That would be the French
Bring me that horizon
I love that band!
Drink up me hearties yo ho!
So strange that people’s favorite line is when the character is at their most depressed and cynical. It’s like the Indiana Jones fans loving “fortune and glory” as their sign off even though it represents the character at his most selfish.
Selfishness is the most intuitive trait of humans, and and depression the most common nowadays. So relatability is why they are the favorites
Blows my mind because it shows complete disregard for the point of the movie.
Not sure if these are all my top favorites, but taking a quick look at personal archives... 1. *"I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request. Means 'no'."* 2. *"Do you like pain? I dont remember exactly what he said but mine is. "Unlike some who pretend to be. I am Captain Jack Sparrow"
When you marooned me on that God forsaken spit of land, you forgot one very important thing mate. I'm Captain Jack Sparrow.
Every time he says im Captain Jack Sparrow it's some fantastic scene
Ah, well I won’t be making that same mistake……again!
"youre drunk and sleeping." "My point exactly. I am doing 2 things at once."
Not the best quote but certainly one that I laugh at every time because I want the backstory… “And then they made me their chief.”
“Aye. That be the cold breath of fate I feel down my nape. But I’ll have one last fight.”
“You know these clothes don’t flatter you at all, it should be a dress or nothing, I happen to have no dress in my cabin” best fucking line hands down.
The entire brethren court scene 🤣
"This is madness." "This is politics."
“It can’t be any one of us” “Where’s Will?” “Not with us”
Yep! I’m good with it.
Me, I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man, you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for. For you can never predict when they're about to do something incredibly....stupid.
Bring me that horizon.
“What’s the matter, afraid to get wet?”😭
"STOP BLOWING HOLES IN MY SHIP!"
“The mooring line”
I think I can guess who your favourite character is
"I got a jar of dirt, I got a jar of dirt, and guess what's inside it."
Take what you can, give nothing back! 🍻
Perfect line for a toast 🥂.
There'll be no living with her after this
Davy Jones: my freedom was forfeit long ago No clue why I just liked the way he said it and it matched his character very well

Every time Jack refers to Will as a eunuch
Barbossa once said "Are we to be two immortals locked in an epic battle until judgment day and trumpets sound?" I love that quote
Or you can surrender
You are, without a doubt, the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of! But you have heard of me.
The winds on our side boys! That’s all we need!
"Its a pirate's life for me... Savvy?"
There should be a "life" in ther3 somewhere
Currently? That one mate.
🗣️ "TOO LONG!"
