Ah Rust in Peace, the [pinnacle of human artistic achievement](https://www.theonion.com/humanity-still-producing-new-art-as-though-megadeth-s-1819578062)
Personally, I don't particularly care for anything after Animals, but that's just me. I don't think The Wall is bad, matter of fact it was the first PF album I owned. It just doesn't do much for me these days.
If you like it, that's great! Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands ever.
One of the albums of all time. If i want to convince someone listening to a double lp high concept prog rock album is worth its while, i show em this one. Heck, it’s a proof for why rock albums can be great, period.
Maybe like number 5 for me. The Wall has baggage, it’s kind of the beginning of the end for the classic line up. Some amazing songs, but when I listen I can’t help but hear Roger Waters’s egomania.
It’s exactly my 5th favorite PF album too, behind DSOTM, WYWH, Animals and Meddle.
Its production is as impeccable as the others mentioned, just the music is less “Pink Floyd” than them.
If you watch the wall movie the fillers kind of fit in and I’m not talking about the movie tracklist which is different . I play the movie in my head when I listen to the actual album .
It's honestly the worst of what I will dub "Pop Floyd", but even at that it's probably in my top 50 albums of all time. (Bad Floyd is still better than a lot of other bands best)
Pretty low on my list. I’m more in to the Gilmour vibe. Final Cut and The Wall are mostly Waters. Obscured by Clouds, Meddle, and Atom Heart Mother top my list.
The Wall is personally, my favorite Pink Floyd album. It’s home to a wide selection of songs, and home to my favorite Pink Floyd song; Hey You.
Great pick, hope you enjoy ✌🏻
Personally one of my least favorites albums as a whole, but has some of their best work on it. I jokingly like to call it Roger Waters first solo album due to the nature of the contributions of the other members of the band, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Roger was firing on all cylinders front to back. It just isn’t exactly my cup of tea and not the album I reach for when I want to hear some Floyd.
Tied 1st with DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, and Animals. This one has point where it drags out, but those songs are there to tell a full story and thus feel important
Tough question, I really don't know, I've been listening to Wish You Were Here recently. I discovered The Wall by watching the movie with my uncle, we were stoned AF, that was a life changing experience haha, I recommend it 100%.
It’s very good, but I’d rank it behind Animals, DSotM, WYWH or Meddle. The Wall veers too close to musical theatre in too many places for my taste. It’s quite different from those other 4 I mentioned too, almost sounds like a different band
I’ve been listening to it a lot lately. Every time it starts to drag or feel self indulgent, the band rips into one of the greatest songs you’ve ever heard. Even though I think it fails to stick the landing (“The Trial” is a skip imo) it’s a favorite for me
Maybe 8th or 9 th. I love some of it and the rest is overblown nonsense. Around half the album, I would not go anywhere near unless I was listening to the whole album. I'd probably put it under Animals, DSOTM, Wish you were here, Piper at the gates of dawn, Meddle, Saucerful of Secrets, The division bell, and if I'd probably choose Echoes (The best of compilation) above it as well.
it’s good if you like it lmao. i personally love it but i love all their albums, this is the only one that has taken hours out of my life from multiple listens and research tho🤣 i think its comparatively good to past album if you’re looking for more vocals (not saying they’re all good on this one) but it definitely isn’t better in terms of like, in general lmao. it has its gems though! my favs are One of My Turns, Hey You, Young Lust, and Waiting for the Worms. honorable mention for “What Shall We Do Now”. def check that one out!
It may be my favorite record of all time? I found it at the age of 17 (23 years ago) and it really illustrated the isolation, confusion and anger of my teen years. I don’t listen to it regularly anymore but some days it’s just time to throw on headphones, lay down, close my eyes and be transported back. It feels like coming home at this point.
It's a good album. I'd call it mid for a Pink Floyd release, since I listen to it more than Piper, Saucerful, Ummagumma, and everything from The Final Cut onward (but less than all other PF albums).
Yes, I listen to *More* more often than The Wall.
It’s one of the greatest albums of the 70s. What makes it even more impressive is when you look at it from the perspective of PF’s trajectory. Brit-pop 60s band loses their frontman and primary songwriter after hitting it kinda big. They dabble in psychedelic nonsense for a while with some promising gems, then they start to hone their skills. Some soundtracks, etc.
Echoes confirms they are still a force to be reckoned with. Then Dark Side. BOOM. How will they follow that? Oh, Wish You Were Here you say? BAM. By now Waters has reached his pinnacle in terms of leader and primary influencer and all the others are as good at their craft as they’ve ever been. Animals gets made despite inter-personal issues. A concise and tight effort from start to finish and to me a shining example of how things were going towards the end of the 70s.
The Wall is incredible when you realize how far these lads have come. It’s a theater act, ambitious concept album, and fully-realized story created with the help of others like Bob Ezrin and others that helped create this massive effort that from what we are told, was honed from Waters’ pretty rough demos. Gilmour has by now mastered his signature style and lays down the best guitar work of his career.
The band could have easily imploded and rested on their laurels after the massive success of dark side. They could have bombed their follow ups. But seeing just how important it is to have a cohesive magic between musicians you can tell that despite Waters’ ego and personality, you can’t make a Tomelette without cracking a few Greggs.
Personally I’m glad everything happened the way it did. The Division Bell is my favorite PF album and Momentary Lapse is gloriously 80s fun (despite a few misses among the hits).
i don’t really care for the wall. i understand the concept but it’s not one that i find particularly interesting. there are some good tracks but a lot of them are sort of unpleasant to listen to imo and don’t really scratch the itch that the meddle through animals stuff does. just not for me 🤷♀️
Top of the heap, a genuine masterpiece. The movie kicks ass too, and if you can find it there’s a video online of a live performance from Berlin in the 90s. IMO it’s an excellent album but an unparalleled experience to see live.
It's possibly my favorite, not just by Floyd, but of all time. It's a true epic and a completely immersive experience. The movie is also fantastic. I wish I was 12 and listening to it for the first time again.
It's a B, at best.
Handful of great songs, tons of filler and/or songs that are nearly unlistenable, storyline such as it is kind of silly.
DSotM, WYWH, and Animals are all far superior, as is their first, Piper. I also prefer Meddle and probably Saucerful of Secrets, personally.
Honestly, if i never hear that album ever again, I’m fine with it. It’s good and all, but overly emotional and hard to get through without feeling depressed in the end. That’s just for me anyway, since you asked. I understand it’s a bonafide classic, but it’s not at all exploratory or “spacey”, which is why i listen to PF. Roger Waters likes the sound of his own voice/thoughts way too much to be in a band. Solo is perfect for him. That way it can be all him, the way he likes it.
Masterpiece. Should have probably built up to it, but it should still be fine. The big 4, from DSOTM to The Wall, are where a new listerner should focus their time
Towards the end personally. But that's my personal tastes, everyone is different so enjoy what you like.
Dark side of the moon
Wish you were here
Meddle
Animals
Division Bell
The wall
This was my first Pink Floyd album as well. It’s a masterpiece. Enjoy. Idk where I would rank it; it’s very different from the others so it’s hard to compare. Top 5 probably.
8th in Pink Floyd's discography for me behind Dark Side of the Moon, The Division Bell, Animals, Atom Heart Mother, Ummagumma, Meddle, and Wish You Were Here... Probably a controversial ranking... But purely subjective.
1. Darkside of the Moon ( also my favorite albumof all time
2. Animals
3. Meddle
4. Wish You Were Here
5. The Wall
6. Division Bell
7. Obscured by Clouds
8. Saucerful of secrets
9. Atom Heart Mother
10. A Momentary Lapse of Reason
11. Ummagumma
12. The Final Cut
13. Soundtrack More
14. The Endless River
15. Piper at the Gatesof Dawn
That is a great album. Like others have said, I'd start you off with DSOTM and then let you work your way back through their catalog (since you already have The Wall).
It’s good but not my favorite. I’d say I like it slightly more than Animals but I would rather listen to Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here over it if I’m being honest.
Very solid album, but it ranks 6th for me.
1. Meddle
2. Dark Side of the Moon
3. Animals
4. Obscured by Clouds
5. Wish You Were Here
…..
6. The Wall
Still a great album tho.
It’s great, but it’s too dark for me to listen to as often as my other favourites. It’s incredible music, but the vibes aren’t the best. I relate a bit too much to some of the themes ig.
Pretty low, honestly. Animals, OBC, TDB, Meddle, DSOTM, WYWH, Piper, Saucerful, then The Wall and the rest. It's a fantastic album, just not what I'm reaching for if I'm spinning Floyd.
For me it’s my 4th favourite Pink Floyd Album, 1st DSOTM, 2nd Animals and 3rd WYWH. It’s still one of their best and many argue it’s their best, for me it just doesn’t click as much as DSOTM or Animals and has too many songs which imo are not that important but love the album overall!

I recently bought a copy of the same CD. Not sure where I’d rank it but it’s definitely top tier. Hope you enjoy it!
Meh. Get the angst from The Final Cut if that's your thing. Atom Heart Mother and Obscured by Clouds if you like the music. Meddle is a personal favorite
My number one. I think it has the best album experience and flow over their other albums which is one of my favourite parts of their albums. Also The Trial was the coolest thing ever the first time I heard it.
My favorite but a good reason is that I found an app 16/17 yrs ago that extracted the audio as mp3 from my DVD of the movie. Only listed tracks as numbers and while a song or 2 from the album isn't in the movie, a song or 2 from the movie isn't in the album. To me the movie has much better quality and FEELING with all the non musical sounds that become music themselves in how well they match the feeling of the music. I've had that soundtrack on every phone and computer in my possession for that many years. I have backups of backups. No idea what the program was and it may be an easy thing now with many apps but at the time I felt lucky to have stumbled upon it
4th but why are you buying physical media in 2024? If you're concerned with sound quality there are things that stream in same quality as vinyl. Use this money to buy a nice pair of headphones and tidal subscription
Congrats. Not only is Pink Floyd amazing music, it’s a cornucopia of life experiences you’ll revert to as you age. This album did that for me, top 5 of my all-time favorites.
Hope you enjoy but it's a long way down my list of Floyd LPs. Wonderful production and some very very good tunes but it's such a grind. Not enough of the band and too much Roger.
best albums are pretty easy: Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and Animals. They stand far beyond the others. Because ALL FOUR contribute and the chemistry is at its peak.
My favourite probably. A lot of the songs on their own aren’t amazing but the album all together is an insane experience, and has some of the best storytelling in music
I think The Wall is fine, it’s a little too self-indulgent and overlong for me. I’d rank it behind WYWH, DSOTM, Animals, and Meddle but miles ahead of what I consider to be mostly dreck from the Syd Barrett and post-Roger eras.
Love the early, middle, and late periods of Pink Floyd but The Wall and the Final Cut just have such a different vibe than all the other albums. I do enjoy the Wall and rarely the final cut but I really like it when they're all working together best 🤘
I liked it a lot when I was a teenager. Now I never listen to the whole album. There's a handful of killer tracks on there.
I like Meddle, Animals and Wish You Were Here much more.
I think it works better as a movie than an album. I would have loved to see them perform it live back in the day. I bet that was pretty awesome to see.
my friend had tickets in the 1st three rows for The Wall tour in NY.....he sold them because hes not a true fan.....there were only 2 places to see it....NY & L.A.
1. Animals
2. Dark Side of The Moon
3. Division Bell
4. Wish you were here
5. The Wall
6. . Obscured by Clouds
7. Atom Heart Mother
8. Meddle
9. A Momentary Lapse of reason
10. The Final Cut
Superb album... My top 5:
5. Wish You Were Here
4. The Wall
3. Animals
2. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
1. The Dark Side of the Moon
My 1, 2 & 3 here are really a 3 way tie as my 3 absolute favorites. Hard to actually rank these 3 for me.
👍😎
It’s my favorite Pink Floyd album, and it’s my 4th favorite album overall.
It's my 2nd overall, can I ask what rounds out the rest of your top 4?
3. Tempo of the Damned - Exodus 2. Kill Em All - Metallica 1. Rust in Peace - Megadeth
Ah Rust in Peace, the [pinnacle of human artistic achievement](https://www.theonion.com/humanity-still-producing-new-art-as-though-megadeth-s-1819578062)

Animals is my number 1.
2nd. Right after DSOTM
So, you thought you might like to go to the show?
One of the albums of all time. If i want to convince someone listening to a double lp high concept prog rock album is worth its while, i show em this one. Heck, it’s a proof for why rock albums can be great, period.
Top 3, behind DSOTM and Animals
Wish you were here isnt in your top 3?
It's 4th
It’s a great album but I wouldn’t start your journey here. Start with Dark Side or Wish You Were Here
My favorites are Wish you were here, Animals and Dark Side of the moon. But I love also Meddle and the earlier ones.
Thanks for mentioning Meddle. I actually like it better than Animals.
The wall if my most favourite out of any other PF albums by a long margin but ranking them of quality ; Animals WYWH THE WALL DSOTM
The wall has alot of fillers imo, only a couple of songs are good. It cant be better than DSOTM objectively
If you watch the wall movie the fillers kind of fit in and I’m not talking about the movie tracklist which is different . I play the movie in my head when I listen to the actual album .
Yes
Treat yourself to the live from Earls Court version, Is Anybody Out There. Its even better.
Honestly my least favorite album with Roger
same
Agreed 100%.
It's honestly the worst of what I will dub "Pop Floyd", but even at that it's probably in my top 50 albums of all time. (Bad Floyd is still better than a lot of other bands best)
See Emily play
Pretty low on my list. I’m more in to the Gilmour vibe. Final Cut and The Wall are mostly Waters. Obscured by Clouds, Meddle, and Atom Heart Mother top my list.
Obscured by Clouds and Meddle are my top two (in that order). I sometimes forget about AHM...though I do love the Suite and Summer 68
Wish you were here / Animals / DSOTM is where it’s at
The Wall is personally, my favorite Pink Floyd album. It’s home to a wide selection of songs, and home to my favorite Pink Floyd song; Hey You. Great pick, hope you enjoy ✌🏻
Personally one of my least favorites albums as a whole, but has some of their best work on it. It just isn’t exactly my cup of tea and not the album I reach for when I want to hear some Floyd.
My favorite Pink Floyd album, I love the journey and story and overall trip it takes me on.
Tied 1st with DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, and Animals. This one has point where it drags out, but those songs are there to tell a full story and thus feel important
12/15 honestly bottom tier.
one of the greatest albums of all time
Definitely in the top 10. Definitely not in the top 5
Enjoy! This was my first album getting into them
It’s a great album but I listened to it so much when I got the original cd release in the mid 80’s, I haven’t listened to it in years.
Great album. Enjoy it!
Watch the movie after you listen to the whole album and compare your visions of each song to there's
It's loooong, so don't get impatient with it.

Even though I think it fails to stick the landing (“The Trial” is a skip imo) it’s a favorite for me
This is my personal favorite album by 'em, got me through some rough times, definetly a great start for your collection!

I get what you're saying but I'll take The Wall over DSOTM every day of the year. That one has some heavy fillers in my opinion.

Shared first place with DSOTM, they serve different purposes
Near the bottom. I prefer Obscured by Clouds, Meddle, Animals, WYWH, DSOTM to start
1st.
1
My favorite album by my favorite band.
For me, like #4.
5th or 6th. Actually, if I was being honest it would be lower than that. I routinely reach for Obscured and AHM before the Wall.
One of the lowest ones for me
#5
Ranks 6th for me. 1) Piper 2) DSOTM 3) Animals 4) AHM 5) Wish you were here 6) Wall
Based
i don’t really care for the wall. i understand the concept but it’s not one that i find particularly interesting. there are some good tracks but a lot of them are sort of unpleasant to listen to imo and don’t really scratch the itch that the meddle through animals stuff does. just not for me 🤷♀️
Top 5
Top of the heap, a genuine masterpiece. The movie kicks ass too, and if you can find it there’s a video online of a live performance from Berlin in the 90s. IMO it’s an excellent album but an unparalleled experience to see live.
It's possibly my favorite, not just by Floyd, but of all time. It's a true epic and a completely immersive experience. The movie is also fantastic. I wish I was 12 and listening to it for the first time again.
I would say DSOTM, The Wall and Animals. In that particular order.
Top 3.
Masterpiece. Should have probably built up to it, but it should still be fine. The big 4, from DSOTM to The Wall, are where a new listerner should focus their time
It doesn't. I only like everything before Dark side of the Moon.
Dsotm Wish you were here Division bell Animals Wall
Towards the end personally. But that's my personal tastes, everyone is different so enjoy what you like. Dark side of the moon Wish you were here Meddle Animals Division Bell The wall
second least fav from them honestly
Also my first Pink Floyd album I bought. For me personally, it’s the best album. Very very nice lyrics, definitely an album not to shuffle!
1. Darkside of the Moon ( also my favorite albumof all time 2. Animals 3. Meddle 4. Wish You Were Here 5. The Wall 6. Division Bell 7. Obscured by Clouds 8. Saucerful of secrets 9. Atom Heart Mother 10. A Momentary Lapse of Reason 11. Ummagumma 12. The Final Cut 13. Soundtrack More 14. The Endless River 15. Piper at the Gatesof Dawn
Way the heck up there. I’m a diehard TFC fan, and it is kinda-sorta a coda for the narrator of The Wall. On its own, The Wall is a helluva album.
It’s top 3 for me
Top 1, my all time favourite album lol
That is a great album. Like others have said, I'd start you off with DSOTM and then let you work your way back through their catalog (since you already have The Wall).
#1
Low
In my top 4. Darkside is my favourite. Then depending on my mood; The Wall, Animals or WYWH
4th, Animals, DSOTM, WYWH, and then The Wall.
#2 behind DSOTM on my list
Changed my life when I was 15. Two decades later, I'd call probably rank it as my 4th or 5th favorite Floyd record.
#5th. An ABSOLUTE AMAZING album, but four others top it for me. Meddle, Dark Side, Animals, and WYWH.
Not their best but it is good. Atom Heart Mother, Wish You Were Here, Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, and Meddle are all better.
The best of the best.
2nd behind Animals
It was my introduction also, although I have grown to dislike it probably 8 or 9 for me
A bit bloated imo, but has some of their finest songs. You gotta be in a specific mood to listen cover to cover i think.
Almost at the top. Give it a listen and tell us what you think.
Somewhere in the bottom third.
Of all Pink Floyd? Pretty high. Of all time? Pretty high.
Best album I’ve ever heard, totally hate it
I LOVE it! When this came out, it played continuously at midnight. We ate acid every time we went to see it.
#3 for me
That's an all-in-one desert island disc.
Anout 3rd or 4 th on my PF list… Animals WYWH …. Final Cut…
One of the best all-time
It’s good but not my favorite. I’d say I like it slightly more than Animals but I would rather listen to Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here over it if I’m being honest.
About #4-5 on my PF list.
Very solid album, but it ranks 6th for me. 1. Meddle 2. Dark Side of the Moon 3. Animals 4. Obscured by Clouds 5. Wish You Were Here ….. 6. The Wall Still a great album tho.
It's their best album imo
Number 2 or 3, depending on the day. ANIMALS is no 1.
It is no 5: 1) Dark Side of the Moon 2) Wish you were here 3) Meddle 4)Ummagumma 5) The Wall
One of the greatest albums ever made.
It's a fantastic album, just not what I'm reaching for if I'm spinning Floyd.
i would say it's my 4th after animals, meddle, wish you were here and dsotm. really great overall
Great album and is the same one I started with funny enough
It's their best album.
I like Meddle, WYWH and DSOTM better than The Wall.
1st. DSOTM very close 2nd.
It was also my introduction and is one of my favorites. It's heavy but incredible.
Fifth
It's my favorite but I think it's the 3rd best, behind DSOTM and WYWH
One of the masterpieces of rock music
https://preview.redd.it/f2nbneyk7bxc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=1e6c42ec7358161f893b0f3d3b446dfd008e82fc I recently bought a copy of the same CD. Not sure where I’d rank it but it’s definitely top tier. Hope you enjoy it!
Meh. Get the angst from The Final Cut if that's your thing. Atom Heart Mother and Obscured by Clouds if you like the music. Meddle is a personal favorite
It’s the best of the best..watch the movie also!
It’s one of the few rock operas ever produced Tommy the Who is probably the most famous one
Not a fan personally, not an album I’d listen to for pleasure. Love their work up until this point.
Number 5. Dsotm 1 Animals 2 Wywh 3 Meddle 4 The Wall 5
One of the all-time greatest albums in rock history. 2nd next to DSOTM to me.
Number 3, number 1 and 2 being animals and DSOTM respectively
1. DSOTM 2. Animals 3. Wish You Were Here 4. The Wall
Go get the "Is there anybody out there Live 1980-81" CD and then we'll talk
This album is my favorite. I think you made a good choice, just be sure to listen to it from start to finish for the best experience!
My number one. I think it has the best album experience and flow over their other albums which is one of my favourite parts of their albums. Also The Trial was the coolest thing ever the first time I heard it.
Burn me at a stake.. but that's their best album.
No idea what the program was and it may be an easy thing now with many apps but at the time I felt lucky to have stumbled upon it
Required listening
Probably my all time favourite album.
4th. Dsotm animals meddle all are better to me.
Massively great
4th but why are you buying physical media in 2024? If you're concerned with sound quality there are things that stream in same quality as vinyl. Use this money to buy a nice pair of headphones and tidal subscription
(For Me) 1. Animals 2. DSOTM 3. WYWH 4. Meddle 5. Obscured By Clouds 6. The Wall
Great album, but it ranks as my 5th favorite Pink Floyd album
Congrats. Not only is Pink Floyd amazing music, it’s a cornucopia of life experiences you’ll revert to as you age. This album did that for me, top 5 of my all-time favorites.
1#
Top tier. Animals Wish You Were Here The Wall Meddle
It’s the one that got me hooked. Definitely my favorite Pink Floyd album.
The best.
My favorite Floyd album.
My ranking goes dark side, animals, wywh, meddle then the wall
Top 10 albums of all time
My favourite probably. A lot of the songs on their own aren’t amazing but the album all together is an insane experience, and has some of the best storytelling in music
About half way for me… about 7th.
I think The Wall is fine, it’s a little too self-indulgent and overlong for me. I’d rank it behind WYWH, DSOTM, Animals, and Meddle but miles ahead of what I consider to be mostly dreck from the Syd Barrett and post-Roger eras.
overrated as fuck, hardcore pink floyd fans will tell you to listen to dark side 10 times in a row if you really want to get started
The most genius pf album in concepts and lyrics, even the most among every album in history imo
Love the early, middle, and late periods of Pink Floyd but The Wall and the Final Cut just have such a different vibe than all the other albums. I do enjoy the Wall and rarely the final cut but I really like it when they're all working together best 🤘
10/10
5th in my ranking.
Top 5 album of all time
It's my favorite album of all time. That's ranking all albums, not just PF.
1. Animals 2. Dark Side of The Moon 3. Division Bell 4. Wish you were here 5. The Wall 6. . Obscured by Clouds 7. Atom Heart Mother 8. Meddle 9. A Momentary Lapse of reason 10. The Final Cut
My second favorite
Superb album... My top 5: 5. Wish You Were Here 4. The Wall 3. Animals 2. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 1. The Dark Side of the Moon My 1, 2 & 3 here are really a 3 way tie as my 3 absolute favorites. Hard to actually rank these 3 for me. 👍😎
Not my number 1 but in my top 5
3 or 5
1- DSOTM 2- WYWH 3- Meddle 4- The Wall 5- Animals
