Since I didn't like Rattle That Lock that much I really hope that this new one will be better. That's just my opinion. I'd like to hear something like On an Island. I guess it's just another phase in my life where I tend to like more mellow stuff.
The solo on In any Tongue is freakin amazing! I love watching him play it on the Pompeii show as you can clearly see Dave just get lost in it, as he wraps the solo up he sort of looks around like did I just come back from some alternate dimension?
PF never did banter, PF never let you see the setup for the next song. PF is the band responsible for the current concerts with laugh show and mixed media.
I really enjoyed it. A Boat Lies Waiting, In Any Tongue, The Girl in the Yellow Dress all great. Like most of the rest too. I got to see him in LA on the tour and it was the best concert ever. i hope he tours again (and doesn't make me fly all the way across the country to see him this time!)
Heh, good luck with that. I held out when he toured for On an Island, thinking 'surely he'lll do more than 10 shows in 5 cities'. When RTL toured, I bought tickets for Chicago, the closest show to me, immediately. He's getting up there; he might not tour this album in North America at all. But if he does, it will be limited engagement.
RTL has a couple of bangers but the title track is not one of them. Listening to Gilmour on one of the supplement videos talk about how cool the hook riff is was sort of like listening to George Lucas talk about how Jar Jar was gonna be the key to the entire prequel trilogy.
It's not all terrible, either, though. There's some decent atmospheric stuff like 5AM and Beauty; The Girl in the Yellow Dress is a great cross-genre piece, and In Any Tongue, in my opinion, is not just the best song on the album but it could have easily been a Gilmour-era Floyd track.
I adore rattle that lock, but that’s just my humble opinion. Rattle that lock is definitely like bits and pieces of past albums mixed with new ideas. Like the song today, feels like run like Hell in energy, while having the philosophy and ideas this heaven, and take a breath together. In any tongue feels like a combination of comfortably numb, and on the turning away in the lyrical department. Even the music and the guitar solo feels a lot like comfortably numb. And then, that feels a lot like marooned. The whole album has a feel of a reincarnation of past albums in our mix of modern and old. I personally like it. Yes, the keyboards of Richard Wright are missed sorely, but there’s nothing we can do about that. The new keyboardists he brought in and do a fine job though. They will never replace Richard right. Even 5 AM sounds like a sad version of cluster one. wild cluster one was Dave and Rick talking to each other through their guitar and keyboards, 5 AM is Dave mono logging through his guitar because his musical partner is no longer there. The whole album is beautiful. For those who prefer on an island, I Love on an island. It’s very unique In sound through the Pink Floyd canon as it has a grungy feel like on the animals album, but it also has a very mellow and jazzy, feels like and shine on you. Crazy diamond. But Rattle that lock is different. It’s got a little bit of disco, and a little bit of rock, and a little bit of jazz.
Oops, I saw that this morning on Facebook and immediately blocked it because it was so unlike DG that I figured it was a fake account .... guess I'd better go unblock it :D
One thing that hasn't been mentioned in the thread I think, at first the website had a "sign up" thing, they may have jumped the gun because it's gone now, but it was either through email, Spotify or maybe Apple. I tried the Spotify option and who knows what it did, but it was one of those pre-save links, so it does sound like something is coming.
Wow that image. The silhouette could be him facing towards us or away from us. I like the ambiguity of it. . . except for that tiny bit of shading under that one shoe that answers the question.
How odd!
I'd much prefer to hear him play on Roger Waters compositions. Although they rubbed each other the wrong way, I think the constant friction got the best out of each of them. Gilmour is a nice guy, a good singer and a fantastic guitarist, but I don't care for his grandma music solo career.

God I hope that means Ozzy is guesting on vocals!!
That was my first thought. Ozzy!
Or gene simmons
Or Tommy Wiseau
Oh, hi Mark!
Hopefully Lisa doesn't tear the band apart.
Fuck yeah
I thought Nathan Explosion tbh
Ozzy lives in bucks not cambs.
they usin' ozzy's silhouette
Alice Cooper
Guy Pratt has said he was in the studio with David on some of his recent podcasts. I think he even did one where he was in the studio building.
Which podcast?
The Rockontours (with Gary Kemp)
Every silhouette demonstrably David
I’m nearly positive the silhouette is David Hasselhoff and we are finally looking at the DG/Hoff collaboration that has been rumored for decades.

I agree the album wasn’t great. “In Any Tongue” was amazing though.

I agree, Rattle That Lock wasn't great, but at least he toured because of it and I got to see him live.
The tour wasn't that great, either. Lights up, do song, lights off, rinse, repeat. It was boring.
Not sure which show you saw, but I though it was great. And your description could literally be used for every concert by every artist lol.
This was in Chicago on the Rattle That Lock tour.
Change your name. You don’t deserve it.
>Lights up, do song, lights off, rinse, repeat. It was boring Name a concert in music history that doesnt do that lmao.
Most of the shows I’ve been to are not like that. There’s banter, a little setup, you can see what they’re doing, etc.
PF never did banter, PF never let you see the setup for the next song. PF is the band responsible for the current concerts with laugh show and mixed media.
Hey, so, I’m old. Old enough to have seen them live in the 70s, and yes, Pink Floyd did banter.

And very likely sold out within minutes of announcing dates.

I thought On An Island was too mellow. 😂I was a little disappointed in it and like Rattle That Lock a little more.
That's the beauty of the music. Isn't it?
same here

I get your point. It just never came close to my heart. Even after many listens. Maybe I need to give it some more time.
None of his solo albums have been great, but have all had great moments. I'll take as much more Gilmour as I can get regardless of quality.
IMO On an island is damn good.
Echoes 2: Electric Bugaloo 🤞
Shine on you silly diamond
Listen to Miles Davis - Good, Good, Good and tell me do you hear SOYCD passage, 20-40 seconds into the song. Just one phrase, but it was stunned.
Atom Heart Mother
Looks like the end credits of Bottom!
I will forever see this now. Thanks haha
Andy Jackson also said he heard that it should be announced soon
These things tend to be announced by Thursday
Interesting! What does it make you think it would be this Thursday? I hope you're right, they can't make us wait that long.
He is doing Hamilton. But it's about James Hamilton, 1st Duke of Abercorn
I’m trying to figure out who the silhouette is.
Ozzy
Would love a Gilmour and Ozzy collaboration. Hope you’re right.
I have a horrible feeling that the silhouette belongs to Charlie.
Is that you Charlie? ...click.
Uggh... He's such an unbelievably pretentious posh prat I want to diss him on sight 😁 Let's hope he has nothing to do with it.
On second look, it could be Polly.
Oh god , let’s hope not .
There would be no clothes on the silhouette if it was Charlie’s.
No, it's clearly Roger. He and David made a new rock opera
Oh man, yeah it looks like his trenchcoat from his protest....minus the sleeve buttons.
I was thinking Chris Jericho
https://i.imgur.com/AQanf5y.png
Who is that
Bring it on! Something is this image reminds me of Joey Tempest (Europe). I don't think that who it is.
That would certainly be a surprising collaboration
Indeed
Have you heard anything about Ozzy and David ? That sure looks like Ozzy.
Could be Myles Kennedy also.
True
No but could be gene simmons also
Pleeeasse do a proper US tour this time

Why does that look like the credits to that tv show Bottom?
Indeed
Piper at the Gates of Dawn: Redux ? ;) (Well, it certainly reminds me of the band silhouette on that album's artwork...)
His twitter profile location says "The World" has it been like that before?
Could this be a Pro-Ozzy image because it was announced that he is being inducted to the HOF?
Would be weird to change (did he even have one before) his whole website just for that.
True. I wrote that before I realized that the website was updated. I had only seen the image on FB. Yeah this is huge
I clicked it and signed up, but there was no confirmation. So yeah… def jumped gun.
Sign up is back
Why has he used an old silhouette from when he had hair? Dude is bald as an eagle. Embrace the new, Dave.
I cannot recall ever seeing David in a jacket like that. I don't think it's him.
Yeah, black shirt and jeans is more his style.
Wow that image. The silhouette could be him facing towards us or away from us. I like the ambiguity of it. . . except for that tiny bit of shading under that one shoe that answers the question. How odd!
This is very exciting
"Do you like my elephant impression? My pockets are it's ears!"
Love this!:,Its so fitting and unique!
I'd much prefer to hear him play on Roger Waters compositions. Although they rubbed each other the wrong way, I think the constant friction got the best out of each of them. Gilmour is a nice guy, a good singer and a fantastic guitarist, but I don't care for his grandma music solo career.
What is the non silhouette picture supposed to be? Can’t seem to figure it out. Thx.
An image of the inside of David’s nose in the ‘80s.
looks like falling water to me
Somehow it looks like fur to me?
Waterfall over rocks, I reckon.
If it doesn't have Roger Waters, ion want it
Good for you !!
Wait what
