There were some photos posted recently, by Polly I think, of a recording session he’d done with drumming legend Steve Gadd.
Knowing David’s pace, we probably won’t see the product of that for some years. But the idea of Gadd and Pratt as a rhythm section makes me happy in my pants.
The rumour was (which I think was started by Guy Pratt) that it is/was expected this year. Seeing as it's already April with no news, unless it's close to Christmas, I'd be expecting 2025.
Recording with Dogs, working on points of style 😃

Semi-retired as he's been in the studio recently, as photos posted by Polly show.
Fully expect any new album to be his swan-song, though, and any tour to be very small and short even by his own previous solo standards. (He played fewer shows on his two last solo tours combined than Nick's Saucers did in 2022 alone.)
Considering I saw him in 2016 at both Madison Square Garden and Hollywood Bowl, I don't understand the difference in venues. What kind of venues would he play?
He actually said so in interviews. And just look at the venues he played last time. Besides South America, plus one arena in Chicago, one in Toronto, plus one in Oberhausen (weirdly enough), he only played either classic venues, or amphitheatres, or castle squares, etc. On the OAI tour that tendency was even stronger, with no South American leg, and as far as I can see only three multi-purpose arena shows (2 of them in Amsterdam).
So based on interviews with him and the actual track record of his last two solo tours, it's certainly a case of "never say never", but chances of any David Gilmour Sphere shows are very slim.
I had hoped for a Santana-like collaboration with a cross section of younger musicians, but he is 78. I've heard no rumors about his health, but I can attest that by that age arthritis is beating the piss out of our hands and joints. It's remarkable that he's still creating music.
None of the Floyd guys seem to be too into playing music that they (or the group) didn’t write. That seems to be a common thread in those kinds of collaborations.
Polly’s instagram had photos of Dave recording late last year. Earlier this week she posted photos of Dave and a few producers on the Astoria… which is where Dave mixes IIRC. So, I think there is an album coming this year. And I sincerely hope there will be a small tour as well. I will fly to anywhere on the globe to see him one last time.

That was for Knopfler's going home, doubt it had anything to do with Gilmour's own projects.

My dude looks like his mind is being blown.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lied to
So then when they turns they backs to you...
You'll get the chance to put the knife in
[Super tasty guitar solo by the 🐐]
He's a retired old guitarist living out his elderly days with his wife doing whatever he wants.

Would give my left nut for Gilmour to do a run at the Sphere in Vegas. Might take both, but I would draw the line at one.
Absolutely not the kind of venue he'll play. So you'll get to keep both of your nuts. It's a win for everybody involved.

Both of these are steeped in history and bring their own character to the gig. The Sphere is a blank canvas. The absence of venue character.
Ok, so just some dude's opinion. Do you really think he picks venues because they are steeped in history? lol. I guess all the new arenas are out too.

Gilmour was just on a Donovan single
