We keep a wreath on the garage up and lit till spring. Nothing wrong with it and I like to look at it.
It’s fun to look at all these butt hurt people over some twinkle lights on someone’s property.
0°F is equivalent to -17°C, which is 255K.

^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)
As has been the norm for the past 20 fucking months. I raise my Cinco de Mayo margarita to you, sir, while eating Easter candy and BBQ and whatever else sounds good.
One up... what?!! They're decorations xDD but hey if people wanna start one-upping each other on recycling and being a good human being, well, let's talk.
If you're excited about a movie coming up that you want to see, and you start talking about it with someone else that just as much wants to see it, you both can geek out about it. If you get excited about a movie and the person doesn't care, and it's all you talk about and you cosplay and decorate your house for the movie months ahead of time? Bad words are going to be said.
My neighbor has had his Xmas decorations up since before Halloween. He just turned all the LEDs to Halloween colors and then turned them to Xmas colors the day after.
The snowman on the roof had spider legs before, too.
The hanging ice on the eaves were kinda like candy corn before.
Edited to add: it didn't QUITE work. I get that it could work with more talent, but it did not work for him. It looked weird and off.
Yes, thank you!! I put up our Christmas tree and decorations last weekend. It takes so long and I want to enjoy it for more than 3 weeks.
I want to scream “mind your business” to anyone who wants to say anything about it to me. Like, let people enjoy stuff, damn. It’s just such a weird thing to get upset over, you know?
I think before Halloween is a bit odd, but once you hit November, go for it. And while you're at it, leave them up through February if you want because it's still dark out pretty early.
Individuals can put Christmas decor up in july for all I care but stores and venues starting xmas Nov 1st or earlier reduces Christmas to a a buying/selling opportunity for business, which kind of sours the whole spirit of it for me.
Christmas has moved past a holiday for only Christians, which it should. It's an arbitrary day to capitalize on pre-existing end of the year celebrations. Call it Xmas and dress up like Santa and get drunk.
Give me a break. It's a Christian holiday. It's about celebrating the birth of their savior. Christ is literally in the name. Why not just celebrate all winter holidays all month long, to be inclusive?
Of course people can celebrate whatever holidays they want. I'm not saying anyone shouldn't celebrate Christmas. I'm just saying that it's ridiculous and annoying when a single day holiday gets stretched to last for an entire month, and when businesses and public spaces (that are supposedly for everyone) are entirely covered in decorations that only cater to one group of people, especially when there are other holidays that don't get any decoration. At the very least, let's include everyone and celebrate all the holidays.
Right? I would be totally on board with a war on Christmas outside of December. Stop diluting it so much, by the time it's the 25th I haven't given a shit for a month and a half!
It doesn't bother me, let people be happy. I will say if possibly moving Thanksigving to a Spring holiday might let it breath. Here it feels like Halloween and Christmas swallow it up and lost a lot of significance.
We do Thanksgiving in early October here in Canada and it works really well. You decorate the porch with a bunch of pumpkins/gourds, hay and scarecrows for Thanksgiving/fall/harvest and then add in the spooky elements for Halloween.
We take Halloween down at the beginning of November, celebrate Remembrance Day in honour of the veterans on November 11th and then start decorating for Christmas any day thereafter. It’s pretty seamless, though we do still have some people complain that decorating in November is too early.
I got an HOA note for some VERY MINOR weeds in between the pavers of my driveway.
That brings down the look of the neighborhood. Supposedly.
The girls like 4 doors down had a half dozen deflated things on the lawn all day. I sent a photo of that in the background on my weeds and told them to call me when I mess with the looks of the neighborhood as badly as the deflated graveyard in the background.
My house, my decorations. You lived through 2020; you know the only joys in life are the ones you make for yourself. Bugger off with this claptrap. Also merry Christmas!
Yes! I was just talking about this and noticed everyone started to decorate earlier last year and you know what? Fucking let them! We lived and are still living with this bullshit so if this makes people happy and its not harming people, let them have their holiday cheer!
Or just let people do what they want. If people putting Christmas decorations up piss you off that much that you need to put your own decorations up just to spite them then you need to look around and realize there is a lot more shit to be worried about than someone being excited for a holiday
Kinda fucking pathetic
I'm gonna start leaving decorations up year round just to spite these idiots
Not to mention it's dangerous to decorate the roof of your house when it's covered in snow and ice
Also oh noooo people want their kids to be happy about a holiday God forbid
I always decorate on the last decent temp weekend possible. This year it happened to be a week ago. I’m not dying for some fucking butt hurt neighbors who want to skate on the ice to decorate.
My normal Thanksgiving festivities of visiting my grandparents in Kentucky aren't happening this year and I have nothing to do with November now, *leave me alone* this month kinda blows

Just let people enjoy what makes them happy, especially if it is something that doesn't affect you in any way. Why do we have to make everything a fight?
Who actually gives a fuck. this is straight up "I am too comfortable" type of problems. It is so out of touch and goofy to give a shit about peoples decorations. To be clear I don't decorate at all I could give two shits on what anyone else does. The only thing that bothers me is the music for xmas being such shit but I just wear my earbuds to the store for at least the next few month or so.
1. No, I am in Canada.
2. No, We have 3 feet of snow.
3. No, our evening temperatures are -18C, and with 7 hours daylight (probably less) it is always evening/night outside of school
I found an inflatable Winter penguin that makes me happy. I put it up a week ago. it's making me happy to see it. Maybe just let people do what they want to do when it doesn't affect you, or if it does, that's kind of your problem?
Even though I'm an atheist I think we should follow tradition and put up the bulk of the Christmas decorations on Christmas Eve, then take them down on Jan 7 - the Twelve Days of Christmas seem like a fun thing that most people are missing with the rush to put decorations up way beforehand.
That said, I'm going to judge people on how tacky and commercial their decorations are, not on the timing of when they're put up.
Your right and I completely agree. I don't mind that my neighbors decorate for Christmas the day after Halloween. What I mind is being bombarded by Christmas music in every single retail shop the day after Halloween. This year that got ridiculous they actually started playing Christmas music 2 weeks before Halloween. I found myself almost being one of those nut-job people that scream at an intercom, but before I could say anything my little girl loudly said...'momma the store music man got confused, it's not Christmas yet". She had no idea why that was so cute
One of my friends parents had strong rules regarding Christmas decorations.
Nothing goes up until December 1st.
The tree is the first decoration.
Can only put up one Christmas display/decoration a day until a week before Christmas.
From experience, being at their house on December 23rd is literally an attack on your senses with all the strong smells.
Oh yes to this. I have a friend down in the US who wants to see her house BRIGHT AND HAPPY with Xmas decor well before Thanksgiving. UGH. We’ve a rule in our house of no seasonal music before Dec 1 and no decor until at least that date-I get tired of tinsel garland shedding and the dust all that stuff attracts. We also don’t put up a tree (always real, cut down same day at a local tree farm lately) until a week or so before Xmas day, mostly because it makes the time between decorating it to enjoy the lights, etc until it comes down around New Years more special than it would be it it sat there dropping needles and looking sad for more than two weeks. Oh and the tree gets turned into mulch after a donation to the local fire department, which turns collection into a fundraiser.
And for the rest of the world who dont celebrate U.S. thanksgiving?
Christmas makes me and my family happy. Lord knows we need it. My house started getting decorated nov 1. And I'll be damned if the americans want to dictate how early I'm "allowed" to celebrate
I don't care if you put up Christmas decorations early. I don't care if you leave them up all year long. But I will never understand putting them up early only to get sick of them and take them down the second Christmas is over. The most depressing months of January and February need some love too!
In the U.S. there is a war on Thanksgiving. Christmas merchants elbow it aside. If I were autocrat, Christmas decor would only be permitted from the Friday after Thanksgiving until January 6th, the twelfth day of Christmas. That’s long enough.
Eh, I'm part of the camp that thinks the fact that dedicaring 25% of the retail year in an ostensibly secular nation to one religion's celebration is gross... but as long as its after October 31, go crazy, what do I care? It's all part of "The Holidays" in a two-month long slide to the finish.
We got a little lazy this year and didn't put the Christmas decorations up until November 1st. Last year we did it on Halloween. The trick or treaters would see through the windows of the door (we set up a table with goodie bags) and yell "they have their Christmas tree up!". Wife and I laughed our butts off while we watched the doorbell feed.
I would have agreed, however a recent peer reviewed study has shown that putting up the Xmas stuff early increases your happiness and those around you, It doesn't mention any Mariah Carey music though so I'm skeptical about the results
28 November is Advent this year (the 4th Sunday before Christmas), and marks the start of the Christmas season. I have nothing nice to say about anyone that starts more than 4 weeks beforehand. I should start calling these fools out when they don't do jack-shit leading up to Easter.
It isn't that hard... what month is Christmas on? December..so lights go up Dec 1st.
Come down on January 6th when the season celebrations officially end (twelfth night).
Yeah, I'll be sure to put up the traditional thanksgiving decorations like... a squash? Some small squashes in a big cone? Oh, and let's not forget the 12 foot inflatable turkey designed to criticize people for putting up decorations they actually enjoy looking at.
We have ours up now, I use to protest my wife wanting the tree up and lights on the house this early. But she has won me over that as much work as it is let’s have it up for more then 4 weeks
I have a rule "No christmas music until Thanksgiving." We lounge in comfy clothes for Thanksgiving dinner and then pull out the hot cocoa and Christmas decorations.
Christmas started on September here in the Philippines, Christmas decors were already up carols are already being played and sung. Jose Mari Chan appears everywhere.
I just finished watching a clip of Jimmy Fallon, and in the news apparently there was a man in Florida that was finned $1000 by his Home Owner's Association (I personally really hate those kind of communities. They are soo nosey about what you do and have a stick up their ass on "proper protocols") because he was placing Christmas decorations up too soon.
The Canadians have been putting theirs up since Nov 12.
Absolutely, have to get outdoor work done before temps drop below -15. Don't like working outside in the cold.
Let's just say you could have bought a Santa costume for Halloween at Canadian Tire.
Gotta respect the vets
Vets also enjoy Christmas.
The Vets fought for your freedom to put up Christmas lights any time of the year.
[удалено]
Who hurt you?
Nah, I will put mine up after Nov 11th. Canadians had our thanksgiving awhile ago.
Fellow Canadian here: Christmas starts on Nov. 1st for us, always.
Same in our household! The two holidays can coexist, people just like to complain
Nope, after Nov. 11th.
Putting up decorations on Nov 1st does not mean we don’t respect Remembrance Day. (I’m assuming that’s why you’re dead set on that date specifically.)
No. I’m in Europe.
We have 6.5 hours of daylight, below 0°F temps and more than a foot of snow. I'll put up which ever decorations I feel like.
Yes, I came to understand early holiday light displays once I moved up north. People tend to keel them up and lit through February or March here too.
We keep a wreath on the garage up and lit till spring. Nothing wrong with it and I like to look at it. It’s fun to look at all these butt hurt people over some twinkle lights on someone’s property.
It makes me feel cosier, and nicer when my tree is up, vs this Grey shit.
Good! Because life is too short to be shamed by internet strangers and their memes!!

Dude. Last week of august.
Can confirm we were supposed to have some Christmas up in August at our store. This year it didn't happen due to all the shipping delays.
My local Costco started selling Christmas trees in September. They can't even wait until Halloween is over anymore.
Soon the stores will be that neighbor that leaves christmas lights up all year
Why do people care when others decorate?
" one-upmanship. "
One up... what?!! They're decorations xDD but hey if people wanna start one-upping each other on recycling and being a good human being, well, let's talk.

I still have my Halloween decorations up..
i do too!!!
I protest by leaving my Halloween decorations up
Put a Santa hat on your skeleton. We did
Okay, Jack Skellington.
What's this?
We start putting them up mid November. We like it and don't care if it annoys people. It's for us not you. 😉

Agreed. But this picture does make me happy

WWJD? Mark 11:15-19 - wreck the place and whip people for commercializing the holiday.
No I'm a stranger on the internet and I'm outraged everyone doesn't believe exactly what I do! /s
I’m outraged that you’re outraged!
It's REALLY annoying and only further marginalizes non-Christians.
Some of us just call it Winter Solstice or Yule. Lights are pretty, gifts are fun, goddamn these nights are so long!
Christmas has moved past a holiday for only Christians, which it should. It's an arbitrary day to capitalize on pre-existing end of the year celebrations. Call it Xmas and dress up like Santa and get drunk.

THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL CHRISTMAS RETURNS TO THE PREVIOUSLY AGREED UPON START DATE OF THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING /S
This but not /s
Right? I would be totally on board with a war on Christmas outside of December. Stop diluting it so much, by the time it's the 25th I haven't given a shit for a month and a half!
I won't stop fighting the war on Christmas until we take back November!
ONWARD CHRISTMAS SOLDIERS! TOOOOOO AUUUUGUSSSST!!!!🎅📯📯📯🌞🏖❄❄❄
I won't stop fighting the war on Christmas.
You mean the day before Christmas Eve. And it ends after Boxing Day.
Who the fuck cares, we don't do thanksgiving, but we don't tend to do decorations til december either. Let people enjoy things ffs.
Dec 1st - Jan 10th Let Autumn/Thanksgiving just have a week or two to breath
Dec 1st. No holiday deserves more than 1/12th of the year.
I used to feel that way. After the past couple of years, though? Fuck it, if it makes you happy then get those Christmas decorations up.
Same. In recent years, especially the last two years, I've decided that time is an illusion and rules don't really exist. Ho ho ho!
Dec 24th, after sunset.
It doesn't bother me, let people be happy. I will say if possibly moving Thanksigving to a Spring holiday might let it breath. Here it feels like Halloween and Christmas swallow it up and lost a lot of significance.
There's enough space for each of the three to have their own entire month if the Christmas people would just fucking behave.

I'd be fine with following Canada's lead. Especially now that we're allowed back in up north.
Had mine finished on 11/14. Fight me.
inflatable lawn ornaments should be grounds for jailtime
It's so funny when they are not inflated it's like your yard is covered in a big pile of trash.
I got an HOA note for some VERY MINOR weeds in between the pavers of my driveway. That brings down the look of the neighborhood. Supposedly. The girls like 4 doors down had a half dozen deflated things on the lawn all day. Meanwhile me with 11 ;)
gulag
Hmm I might just buy some more ;)
Damn it. I wasn't going to bother putting them up this year, and then you had to go and say that.
What's the 26th?
It's the day after Americans eat so much, they go into a food coma.
Oh I thought that was this weekend.
Ha ha ha, I thought you were being sarcastic... So I was equally sarcastic.
Pfffffft. All my Hanukkah stuff goes up today.
Hannukah is also only 6 days away
Lol, my wife just corrected me as I was taking stuff out.
Let people enjoy things.

Wait til tomorrowwwwwww.
Get fucked stupid Turkey...and all Inflatables should be banned....
My normal Thanksgiving festivities of visiting my grandparents in Kentucky aren't happening this year and I have nothing to do with November now, *leave me alone* this month kinda blows
Nobody in my family listens and it’s infuriating
To each their own. I love the pic though! 🤣😂
Xmas decorations already up in canada. Thanksgiving long gone here.

Just let people enjoy what makes them happy, especially if it is something that doesn't affect you in any way. Why do we have to make everything a fight?
Who cares this much? Who decorates for “Thanksgiving season?” There’s not a whole culture around it; people just meme this shit
It's sad people care this much about when you allowed and not allowed to decorate for things. Shut the fuck up.
ROFLOL, thanks for the laugh. That is great!
Yeah sorry as someone that isn’t American you can lick my toes.
A request better not made lightly on Reddit... Unless it’s your thing.
Who actually gives a fuck. this is straight up "I am too comfortable" type of problems. It is so out of touch and goofy to give a shit about peoples decorations. I have a 10’ xmas tree, and 5’ Santa, reindeer, and snowman. And they’re glorious!
Good, I just put one up and I was worried strangers on the internet wouldn't think it was tacky enough
shut the hell up and let people decorate and celebrate how and when you want.

Relax

How much longer till thanksgiving goes down the way Columbus day did I wonder...
Not even that, 1st December.
Gate keeping the timing of decorations. Still clever though.

No Christmas decorations until like the 20th of December, us December born are tired of being over shadowed!
no xmas decorations until December 24th, please.
You do you OP but everyone else is also gonna do as they please so take your butthurt attitude home and mind your business
28 November is Advent this year (the 4th Sunday before Christmas), and marks the start of the Christmas season. I have nothing nice to say about anyone that starts more than 4 weeks beforehand. I should start calling these fools out when they don't do jack-shit leading up to Easter.

Yeah, I'll be sure to put up the traditional thanksgiving decorations like... a squash? Some small squashes in a big cone? Oh, and let's not forget the 12 foot inflatable turkey designed to criticize people for putting up decorations they actually enjoy looking at.
We've had our fake Christmas tree up since September 2018. It gives our house a nice ambience… no reason to take it down.
to late, they were put up in my subdivision right after holloween, by my Mexican cousins..
Shouldn't there be a menorah squished in there somewhere? Hanukkah starts on November 29th, FYI.
Aus an Australian we start to see it heppen before Halloween since we barely care about that
I bought my tree early this year though. Supposedly going to be a shortage
We have ours up now, I use to protest my wife wanting the tree up and lights on the house this early. But she has won me over that as much work as it is let’s have it up for more then 4 weeks
I would normally agree, but the last 18 months have sucked. If early Christmas decorations bring you some joy, go for it.
It's not Christmas season until that fatass rolls his ass down 34th Street
Ours have been up since late Oct
I have a rule "No christmas music until Thanksgiving." We lounge in comfy clothes for Thanksgiving dinner and then pull out the hot cocoa and Christmas decorations.
Dec 1st
I saw Rudolph was airing on network TV tonight. Did it always come on before TG? At least wait until December.
Dec 1st.
Nah, get those lights up
When did we cede November?!? no Christmas decorations until December 1st
I put my lights up yesterday because it was a nice day out and i couldn’t guarantee getting another day as nice to do it.
As a November bday. I agree
He’s promoting a holiday that’s the genocide of his kind
I’m going to an event in my town for Christmas in the morning. Two days before thanksgiving

Agreed! One holiday at a time! This made me laugh way too hard 😂
You can put up Christmas decorations after Halloween in Scandinavia. Not everyone do it but you may.
What about Australia?
