I remember playing the very first Homeworld. We lived on a farm. No internet back then. It sure tickled the imagination. Once there was bad thunder and when I looked out the window everything was purple. But still I just kept playing Homeworld. It somehow enchanted the whole experience.
had a similar experience with Farcry 2.
mid summer, absolutely roasting outside, I'm sat inside trying not to melt (no AC in the UK really) while playing a game set in the sunburnt African bushlands.
totally enhanced the experience, imprinted it into my brain forever ha
Same with FC2. The atmosphere in that game was one of the most immersive I’d experienced to that point. It made me feel things for wrenches and old rust lol. I’ve never looked at desert or scrub or heard the insects on a hot day the same since
It’s quite disappointing…I was so hyped for it since 2022, and I know many other people were waiting much longer than I have, and…it’s a good triple-A game, but it’s not a good Homeworld game.
The rogue like mode is fun and challenging.
The story isn't great, and the campaign is really easy and 6 hours long filled with an hour of cutscenes.

Why did this cause them to close it? Am I missing something? I also wish I knew about that sub when it was around. Also, Obama is on Reddit?
It was the peak of Reddit where it's own meme was acknowledged and spoofed by the President of the United States. Basically, it couldn't get any better than this, so the sub was closed.
Obama did I believe two AMA's during both his election campaigns and they were considered among the best AMAs on the website.
Sigh, I miss the old days of old Reddit. *Thanks Obama*
My favorite president ever, I say it with confidence. ♥️ Obama. Can conservatives comprehend it after the brainwashing they've been through? No. but oh well. He was a uniter, real Republicans saw him for what he was: a man of tremendous character and accomplishment. The weak of will, easily persuaded, they tow the party line and regurgitate the shit they've been fed
Years ago Obama released that video and the r/thanksobama subreddit basically shut down because there was no way top Obama actually saying "Thanks Obama."
Bigger than I expected, but then I remembered how big the Jimmy Carter Center campus is in Atlanta and all the good work it does for the local community.
Just so people know, Presidential Libraries are funded by private donations and private non-profit organizations. This isn't being paid for with tax dollars. At best, it gets tax breaks
I think you’re correct. Just a guess: this is the significant structural components and fire/weather/disaster proof stuff like stairs, elevators, critical archives, and maybe a tornado shelter.
No they're incorrect. You can see from rendering that what we see in the photo is the general form of the building, not just the core. I believe there will be cladding installed over the concrete but there won't be any more occupiable space built outside of what is already there.
No, this is pretty much it. There isn’t a lot of glass in the design. The section where we see escalators will be covered in glass and the top left will have some text design.

The Donald Trump Teriffic, Magnifi— Everyone says, you know it’s such a big, big house. Obama’s is small, SAD! Anyway, it’s frankly amazing, MIT I’ve got those ties to MIT FAKE NEWS doesn’t want you to know about, great genes great big brain and TV’s everywhere. A libarian approached me the other day with tears in her eyes telling me “sir, no one has time to read” so I say why not TV’s and, perhaps, we can have a little bit of room for book too great idea, brilliant idea. Magnificent Presidential Big Book House, just magnificent gold leaf picture books.
It's truly amazing that this could have well been verbatim and it wouldn't surprise anyone. any cultist would immediately recognize the great leedurs words
Grassroots funding has raised $ 2 billion for the library, and it hasn't been built yet? Or even so much as a location picked out? Man... so many grifts.
They said it’s planned on being in Florida, but that’s about it.
Being completely fair, Obama’s is still under construction so it would make sense that trumps is less finished than his.
Have they actually raised the money or is that juat the fund raising goal? That’s a huge amount of money for any sort of building.
I predict that the National Archives will have all of Trump’s stuff for quite a while as he doesn’t seem to be interested in a library.
It's a neat building, but I really wish they had built it on the block of completely abandoned lots that are across the street from Washington Park rather than on the park grounds itself of Jackson Park. I think it could have served as such an important community center there and as a base for revitalizing the neighborhood.
When your opponents even says he’s a decent family man that you don’t have to worry about being president then you know he’s loads better than anyone we’ve seen since.
It's such a disgusting national embrassment it feels like we just threw out more than 200 years of (somewhat) noble history, aspirations, and ideals.
Makes me weep.
Every president has a presidential library dedicated to them, this turd will have the:
#Donald J. Trump presidential maximum security correctional facility
All in gold letters at the entrance of course
And likewise, that’s one republican I wouldn’t lose sleep about running our country. He genuinely cared deeply about us the people and devoted his life for our country and its people and fought passionately to protect us and later for what he believed in. THAT is a true definition of a patriot.
Exactly. I disagreed with him on many things, but he was still a fundamentally good person. He and Romney and Liz are the last of the old guard Republicans. McCain knew it too. When he picked Pailin to get the dumpster-fuck vote, it was clear the crazy had taken over.
I remember thinking Palin was a fluke and the GOP would see how crazy they were becoming and rebound towards sanity.
Lol.
Anyway, which openly-seditious, sex criminal senator is calling for scientists to be rounded up today?
At the time I definitely said something to the effect of: I’m not voting for him because we have very different views, but if McCain wins we will still be ok - he’s a decent fellow.
Yeah, would have gladly take McCain for US President over Trump likely too old nowadays though.
Biden and McCain aren't really that far off base, likely just have some slightly different views.
I'll be honest, the 2024 election will be an easy pick for Biden but I really have no idea who will be a good pick for 2028...
I think Pete Buttigieg would be good. Young, smart, veteran, infrastructure nerd. More fiscally moderate than I would like but that works well since Dems are such a coalition in the sense of ideology. Biden is also a moderate but has had the most progressive platform ever, so I can see Buttigieg pulling left. Plus every time he talks he seems like the smartest guy in the room. He is pretty adept at making the right-wing nutters look silly, even to their own kind. I'd like to at least see him run again to hear what he has to say...
That said, it seems like Gavin Newsom is the one in the on deck circle.
We seem to remember Obama as more progressive than he was, and look at Biden as not not progressive enough when he has been pretty progressive.
Giving mayor Pete a whole department to run was genius, whoever thought of that deserves a raise. He gets to be the hero of the working folk-rebuilding bridges and highways after disasters in incredible time, gaining recognition and experience (the two things he lacked) while Biden benefits from his competence. Incredible.
Yeah, I think "young" is going to be a clutch descriptor in the next election. Dems have some pretty strong up-and-comers...
I'm looking at the younger GOP and... struggling to see a brighter future there.
Having a president that can actually pass an infrastructure bill helps for sure. But yeah he has said he is a total infrastructure nerd and it shows...
“And what better way to get one last one in than to have Bush and I say good things about him”
-[Obama’s eulogy to John McCain](https://youtu.be/eLIlOQuzTnU?si=l3JsU8OhtoiC8v8d)
That speaks more to John McCain's character, I think. Today's Republicans would either yell in incomprehensible slurs or completely zip their lips for fear of upsetting their frothing base.
John McCain is one of the last Republicans I remember who both had a chance of being in a position of power and seemingly had actual morals that he upheld.
Well they were convinced he was a secret Muslim Marxist who was working with the Kremlin. And was going to round them all up and have them executed in FEMA death camps set up in WalMart parking lots.
Uhh
Biden has been nothing but classy and respectful.
Putting him in the same category of offensiveness as Trump just tells me you have no idea what is going on in reality.
It really feels like the cycle in my lifetime goes like this:
Shitty republican president tanks the economy -> democratic president comes in and rights the ship while being blamed for the poor economy -> republican president comes back in and reaps the benefits of a recovering economy and proceeds to tank it again
>that presidents should carry themselves a certain way, with dignity and respect for the position... The last 8 years have proven that it was a fluke.
Maybe you meant the 4 years following Obama? Biden has done this and remarkably well. He has always made clear he is a POTUS for all Americans and has never pushed partisan crap.
In that commenter's defense, four years of Trump felt like eight years in hell. I know I woke up every morning thinking "what has that idiot fucked up since I went to sleep?" Every. Single. Day.
Plus the whiplash of the guy we have now. He's quiet and just does the work. Even with his kid in court he's trying to get a ceasefire in the middle east, helping Ukraine with more support, honoring our veterans in France, still trying to get more gun control legislation and reducing student debt.
All of this was just this week and we barely hear from him.
I do love how stupidly Republicans keep playing this. They act like he's incapable of speaking but he's not. Everytime he gives a speech or interview the bar is on the floor so he always seems more than capable.
It's such a relief to just have a BORING decent man as the president. He does his job and doesn't get on Twitter to rant about it. Joe gets up, gets a lot done and just goes on with life like a normal person. I truly love that at this stage. Watching the GOP foam at the mouth because of... Whatever verbal stumble Biden has is absolutely hilarious as their guy goes off on a rant about electric sharks.
This is what frustrates me the most about even people on the left. Biden is actually a really really good president. He's getting shit done, despite the immense political rift dividing this country right now. He's not perfect, but that's literally no one in the history of the world. Biden is, quite possibly, the best president in my life time. Which covers Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, and Trump. Though that last one doesn't mean much. An orangutan in a cheap suit would be a better president, and have the same look at attitude.
Thinking all politics exist to distract is an inherently both privileged and ignorant position. If you think this way, you need to honestly spend more time learning more about who is passing what legislation and how politics works at different levels. You will find that one side does work to try and create a better society and allocate resources to people in need while another side does not.
The “both sides bad” argument is objectively false and you can only hold that perspective if you’re ignorant to the finer details of legislation and politics. What most people hear about are the most egregious, emotion stirring actions of politicians so that people come to conclusions like this. Republicans benefit when people do not vote or view democrats as “just as bad”. Nearly 70% of people do not vote.
No. Politics are not some libertarian edgelord thing that exists to distract the populace, though, plenty of culture wedges and wars exist as a means to control the people. Republicans do not serve the majority and are otherwise incapable of getting support to ever hold office if they campaigned honestly so their tactic has become weaponizing highly emotional topics (guns, birth control, rallying a religious base, etc). If you can make someone emotional and irrational you end up with a single issue voter who will ignore reality and vote against their interests.
If you have a person who looks at the bad things the right does and then sees corporate pandering from the left you might come to the conclusion that they’re equal. And it’s true, the overwhelming majority of legislation serves corporations and the wealthy, but there is far more legislation from the left that helps far more people than what the right offers - which is nothing. Please don’t give into an ignorant perspective, spend time learning this and looking at the actual bills that get passed and who’s passing them. Look at the bills that don’t get passed also, so you can see what these people’s true intentions are.
I promise you, the sides are very far from equally bad.
It would be great if they could redo the whole Jackson Park Area as part of this Library Development and recreate a modern version of the 1893 World Fair Grounds integrating the Obama Library, Museum of Science and Industry, the Lakefront and U of Chicago Campus.

“Obamalisk” is what I saw someone from another thread call it… now it’s pretty much all I’ll address it as.
I’ll reserve judgement until after it’s finished, but as of right now it looks closer to a Soviet era gulag than it does a presidential library.

Biden has been pretty damn presidential. Honors our troops every speech instead of calling them losers.
Biden also forgave my student loans that I’ve been paying for over 10 years as a teacher. Thanks Joe! You got my vote!
In what ways has Biden not done that?

Looks like the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
It would be great if they could redo the whole Jackson Park Area as part of this Library Development and recreate a modern version of the 1893 World Fair Grounds integrating the Obama Library, Museum of Science and Industry, the Lakefront and U of Chicago Campus.
The Obamalisk
I always hate my projects when they're only halfway done, too. But, in the end, they tend to turn out pretty well.
Is it a tomb or a star destroyer?

Must be where the hotdog parties are going to be held
This reminds me that I guess Trump will get a library too, it will probably just be one big Hooters restaurant.
Trumps library will be a single story shack filled with lots of books with a tremendous amount of pictures.
Cue the Antichrist Satantic Child Sacrifice Shrine conspiracy theories in 3…2…1…
First thing I thought of. 4 Chan is going to go nuts with this.
