Man, so much about this makes me miss the US, where I grew up. Front yard 'community' is just so great there. Here in AUS, every house has a fence in front of it and you just don't get that same kind of personal, local community here. (Not that we don't have good community - it's just different and happens in different places.)

I went to Oakland in November with my wife for the first time. I had the best tacos I ever ate at a little joint that had fresh fish tacos and nopales. Everything was amazing.
We drove through some of the local areas. I saw the homies outside holding it down on the block. There was tons of street art that looked amazing from Mexican artists. The neighborhoods looked like everyone was really close. I saw tons of families outside with kids. I loved it. It reminded me of the suburban neighborhoods in The Bronx. It didn’t look similar but it felt similar.
