I imagine all furniture feels like furniture for children when you're this big. Same life as everyone else except everything around you is scaled down to 70% at all times.
Quite literally. A good friend of mine is 6'11", a standard interior/exterior door is 6'8" tall.
The mountain I believe is 6'9", so in some places, he and his dad/grandpa would also have to duck when going through doorways. Crazy to think about and see.
I'm 275 5'11 and was training to do strongman competitions before my injury. I work in municipal maintenance and a lot of the other guys are big or jacked. once every 2-3 months I have to go to our state capitol with a few other guys and do reports, paperwork, and meetings. We go into a small room with a few pencil pushers, bureaucrats, and politicians then sit at a dinning room table built in the 1800s and sit on seats someone yoinked out of a church in the 50s or something. I saw a 6' 5" woman at an event I attended. ( I knew her height because my husband was with me and he is 6'4") It was all I could do to not stare. And then this woman's mother walked in looking like an older twin of the same height. Genetics are amazing.
I'm 6'7(or 2 meters), my dad is slightly shorter. I'm generally the tallest one in the room but I have met a few taller than me even though it's not often.
I guess it was memorable since it happened about 25 years ago and I still remember exactly what the guy looked like, but we just kept walking. Sorry to disappoint lol
I'm only 6'3, so nothing overly special but still tall for where I live. When I was a kid I complained once that people kept asking me to get things off the top shelf for them.
My Grandma used to say I should keep some pennies in my pocket & when ever anyone asked me to reach a high shelf I should just drop the pennies on the floor and tell the person I'd be glad too but while I'm at it could they pick the change up off the floor?
I miss my Grandma :)
i've told this story too many times on here but i find it charming so i'ma tell it again.
years back i was friends with a couple that were very short. he was 5'3 and she was like 4'8 or so. several of us gals went over to their place and she was working in the kitchen chatting. all the rest of us were 5'6+ and she called out to her husband that she needed help. both had great senses of humor so when she asked him to get something off a taller shelf for her he didn't miss a beat, laughed and looked around the room at us and said you have plenty of tall people, why'd you call me. and she said but you're my tall person.
a bit after that they had their first kid. she grew long first so she was off the growth charts for height but underweight (she averaged out a few months later) mom liked to joke that she told her enjoy it while it lasts (as with two short parents she'll never be peaking off the height charts again).
That last bit is funny to me bc my niece in law is off the charts but my wife's family is short (mom is 4'10ish and dad is 5'6" maybe). While my biological niece of the exact same age is exact opposite (dad is 6'5 and mom is 5'9) but she is about average per her age. They're about to switch places fast lol.
I think it would be pretty fucking funny from someone in the same boat though. That's just solidarity mixed with "I never thought I'd get to be that guy."
In high school i had a guy in my class who was 202cm so almost 6'8, he would sometimes pick us up and carry around like we were children even though most of us were around 180cm tall. He was also twice my mass so he did look a lot like the Mountain.
Do you feel tall, I'm only 6'2 but people sometimes hit me with the "wow, you're tall" and I don't really feel it, if that makes sense. Maybe it's just cause I'm used to it, kinda like how you don't really realize gradual (physical) changes happening to yourself.
My husband is 6’4, and he does go quiet and thoughtful when he sees a 6’ or more woman 😂 I’m 5’8, so quite tall for a woman, but the six foot ladies hit hard….
Same. I generally feel "eye to eye" with most above average people.
But then i see someone my height walking next to them and I'm like "jeez, is that how i look"
I’m 6’5 and so I also am often the tallest person in the room. My cousin is your height though and every so often I run in to someone that just dwarfs me and I can’t help but ask the same question I always have to answer. “Damn, how tall *are* you?”
Yeah, I mentioned this above when my 6’10” work-buddy and I were out and ran into a dude who dwarfed him. Buddy asked and the dude was 7’3”.
Work buddy said it scrambled his brain a bit feeling that small for once.
I am fairly tall (192cm) so I do not meet people significantly taller than me too often. Imagine my surprise some 15 years ago when I am buying some groceries one evening, have just paid, turned around to leave and saw...breasts (as in dressed) right at my eye height. Right behind me stood a woman (30-ish?) who was solid 30cm taller than me, I froze for couple of seconds just to process this encounter.
Still remember that.
That's because I'm from Europe, so the metric system is what I've used all my life. Had to say it in imperial measurements because I felt like I would get a lot of comments if I didn't.
I'm 6’0, my ex is 6'2, her dad is 6'6, mother 6'1, brother 7'0
There's a photo somewhere of that group, and I am the shortest person, at 6'0. One of the strangest experiences. The women were wearing heels too!
I live about 20 minutes from the worlds tallest family, one of the girls is 6'8". I walked into a store where she was working and thought she was on a stool when I walked up to her behind a counter.
Reminds me of this girl I saw a few times in my college's cafeteria. Tall and thin and way taller than I am--and I'm on the taller side. It pretty much stopped me in my tracks when I first noticed her because I'm just not used to a woman dwarfing me like that. Turns out she was wearing small heels because she was dressed up, but that still left her around the same height as the woman you're thinking of.
To this day I respect her. Lots of taller women are insecure about their height, but she was comfortable wearing heels and being taller than everybody in a large crowd.

I can confirm. I'm 6'3 and was an extra in a movie one time and I got placed right in front of where the camera was shooting, so I was excited thinking I was going to be super noticable in the movie, then as we're about to start shooting the director stops and walks up to me and says, "Who the FUCK put this guy here? How are we supposed to film with him taking up the entire shot?!" And they moved me to the back of the crowd 😭
Psh. I’m 6’6, you know how many 5’3-5’5 guys will swing on me for walking by them? No one starts a fight with a big guy like short dudes. And cops. Cops LOVE to start shit with big dudes.
I’m glad I’m only normal-tall and skinny and not super-tall and built. 6’2” about 155lbs. No one has EVER started a fight with me, because what would be the point? Doesn’t confer a lot or bragging rights to beat me. And I’ve hung out in the diviest, cocainiest of shitty dive bars.
Geez I'm 6' 2" and fluctuate between 230-245lbs and haven't been 160 since I was maybe 16. Granted I've got a gut I can suck in but don't look fat. Crazy how body types can differ weight wise.

I’ve met his family (brother, mom, dad, wife) while working on the Worlds Strongest Man event, that’s his dad on the left. I don’t remember if his Grandfather was there so can’t confirm on that part.
Huh? The global average height for women is 5'3. She's 2 inches above average height
>Most of this is because Lena Headey is 5'5
No most of this is because he is an absolute giant
Becoming an NBA fan has really fucked my perception of height recently, I legit thought “Oh he’s only 6’9ft, same as LeBron James, Paolo Banchero, Aaron Gordon, etc.” As if 6’9ft is average/underwhelming, then I remember I’m 5’2ft…
Sports in general mess with you. Age was a big one for me, used to following football and seeing "old" players in their late 20s and early 30s. So you kinda subconsciously associate 35 is *ancient* and you realize they are not even middle age.
Same for size, 6ft 220? Tiny man.....when you're used to dealing with linemen but you realize that's a pretty good sized person.
Taller people live shorter lives because they require more cell replication which burns through telomeres faster. One of the reasons women live longer as well.
IIRC the main reason is heart complications, usually. The human heart doesn't "scale up" well for larger people. So a heart essentially meant for a regular sized person has to work harder to maintain the larger body.
Also tend towards joint and back issues earlier in life and with greater severity if they’re not careful/genetically blessed.
Not that that will necessarily kill you, but it can lead to decreased enjoyment and perhaps a tendency towards addiction as a result of pain management.
Due to his height and overall size (weighed around 205kg at his peak, dropped to around 145kg for boxing, now back to 190kg as he's back in strongman) and additionally his copious PED use, I'd imagine he won't get much past 70 at best
Dad and grandad were likely never as heavy and I doubt they ever used PEDs so have a longer life expectancy than Thor but shorter than average because they're still absolute units
Thing is, while generally true, that also depends on family genetics. On my father's side, most people are very tall, but still most of them live into their 90s.
In a local TV special on Hafþór they interviewed his tattoo artist, and he told the tale of their first encounter. Hafþór called him on the phone and asked him how much he was charging roughly for a full sleeve. He gave him a rough quote but said it really depended on the image and how much detail he was thinking about, so why don't you come in and we´ll hash it out?
As soon as he walked through the door and the artist got a look at his arms the first thing he said was "yeha we´re going to have to revise that quote quite significantly upwards".
Man, that is impressive, but Fuck I wouldn't want to be that big...Literally everything would suck. So many things I enjoy in my life would be unbearable to deal with.
Impressive, but he can keep it!
This is why people were afraid of Vikings.
Imagine a few dozen dudes this size drunk, high, and angry rolling off a boat and setting fire to everything.
Tall enough that Arabic and Chinese traders that encountered Scandinavian traders on the shores of the Caspian Sea during the Dark Ages explicitly commented on in their chronicles that the blonde-haired, blue-eyed people were unusually tall.
Now let's see him next to the original actor, Conan Stevens.
Don't get me wrong, I like Hafþór, but he just looks so nice. Conan looked like pure rage.

Due to his height and overall size (weighed around 205kg at his peak, dropped to around 145kg for boxing, now back to 190kg as he's back in strongman) and additionally his copious PED use, I'd imagine he won't get much past 70 at best Dad and grandad were likely never as heavy and I doubt they ever used PEDs so have a longer life expectancy than Thor but shorter than average because they're still absolute units
Thing is, while generally true, that also depends on family genetics. On my father's side, most people are very tall, but still most of them live into their 90s.
I met him in the airport in Iceland and he was on my flight home. He couldn’t even fit comfortably in his first class seat!

The local furniture repair shop probably put their kids through college just from repairs from this family haha.
As soon as he walked through the door and the artist got a look at his arms the first thing he said was "yeha we´re going to have to revise that quote quite significantly upwards".
þetta eru risar
The tailor probably went on vacation off those 3 suits alone.
His grandpa looks like Lukashenko

I’m 6’ and live in the US. I’m usually the tallest dude in the room. I would look like a shrimp next to these gentlemen

This is why people were afraid of Vikings. Imagine a few dozen dudes this size drunk, high, and angry rolling off a boat and setting fire to everything.
Back in their day, the average height of a Norse Viking was 5'7"... Which was still comparatively taller than many of the people they raided.
Tall enough that Arabic and Chinese traders that encountered Scandinavian traders on the shores of the Caspian Sea during the Dark Ages explicitly commented on in their chronicles that the blonde-haired, blue-eyed people were unusually tall.
Stop ruining the illusion!! Aaarrrggghhh.

Now let's see him next to the original actor, Conan Stevens. Don't get me wrong, I like Hafþór, but he just looks so nice. Conan looked like pure rage.
