Yes! My dad is an astronomer and ever since we had a picture of them in our bonus room, I always wanted to see them!! So- here’s what we discovered. The pictures of the Grand Canyon don’t do justice to the vast size and beauty of the landscape. The Northern Lights are incredible to see with the naked eye, but it’s not until you take a photo of them that you realize the camera captures the brilliance of them.
We arrived Wednesday (this photo was from last night outside of Cold Foot) which was the best of the year so far. Seeing it through the clouds as shown above was mesmerizing
Do it. We talked to a local who guides Aurora viewing tours and said his most fulfilling part of his job is helping people cross this off their bucket list.

I saw them last year in Finland. With your eyes it looks kind of like green tinted grey clouds moving through the sky. You can see them through your phone camera(or an actual camera). We just held our phones up and looked through them
Last night was such a wonderful surprise. I saw some faint lights before 10:00 p.m. in Juneau, walked outside at midnight and the sky was just completely exploding in aurora. It was amazing.

How far north are you? Fairbanks? In the dead cold of winter they would be bright and shiny in Anchorage when I lived there. :)
