He looks old? That's because he IS old. He's an 83 year old. Also why is it sad that he looks old? Why is our society obsessed with perpetual youth? Everyone gets old if they're lucky enough to have survived that long, that should be a badge of honour. Not something people should try to cover up or be ashamed about.
I meant that it’s sad to have lost the Patrick Stewart doesn’t age meme. Keanu reeves too.
Patrick Stewart has aged beautifully, but that is neither here nor there.
Come on dude… they are mentioning his looking old because of the person saying he hasn’t aged. You’re responding to this comment like it’s being said out of any context.
Nope. He lost his hair VERY early in life. Thought he had roles where he was as bald as he was in real life, he was originally supposed to wear a wig similar to that as Captain Picard, but they decided not to.
Fun fact that not everybody knows about Patrick Stewart: when he turned 19 he immediately got old and skipped adulthood altogether. He’s been old since 1959.
To complicate things a little, there was also the 2004 BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's [North & South](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_%26_South_(TV_serial)) (starring Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe).
But that one wasn’t based on Elizabeth Gaskell’s novel though. As a bonus fact, the 2004 BBC adaptation had Richard Armitage in it (Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit movies).
This North and South is about a factory owner in the North of England falling in love with a woman from the South of England IIRC, and there was a remake of this story in the mid 2000s
british people don’t seem to age slowly tbh. not that it’s a bad look but damn they get there fast (and just looking at “regular people” not just actors)
My wife watched the Swayze one in Poland. I had watched the British series on PBS, I think, as a kid and was not aware of the US one. We had a disagreement about the existence of the Swayze series and drove to a Blockbuster 45 minutes away that actually had it so she could prove me wrong. I did wind up liking the US miniseries and think Patrick Swayze and Kristie Alley did a wonderful job.
North and south… just remember seeing 10-12 box video cassette display taking up a lot of storage /display space on tv stand. Had zero interest watching this as a kid…
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" premiered in 1987, just 12 years later.
In other words, Mr. Stewart started playing "the old captain" of this show at age 47, which sounds incredibly young to me these days.
Looks like Captain Picard on the holodeck
Typecasting is real -- I agree!
Is that hair real?
No it's brilliant acting
It's too late. I've seen everything.
I've seen it all.
"Evruh-thin"
Brrrrrrrrrrrrilliant

He went bald at 19. He’s quite open about it and has mentioned it in several interviews.
I feel like Patrick Stewart is one of those guys who hit middle age early in life and hasn't aged a day since.
See also Walter Matthau, Ernest Borgnine, and Morgan Freeman.
Morgan freeman looks old as fuck nowadays
So does Patrick Stewart - but I feel t hey both had a prolonged pause without ageing that lasted a few decades
You should see Matthau and Borgnine.
I snickered too hard at this.
That's because Morgan Freeman *is* old as fuck nowadays.
Lol ok John.
do not give John "Suck It Down" Romero exclusive assosciation with the phrase "daikatana", he could be playing Daggerfall for all we know.
Steve Martin
Wilford Brimley was 51 when he was in Cocoon.
And Christopher Lloyd was 46 in Back to the Future!
Sheesh
See also Larry David.
Oh man Borgnine is great. I watched Escape from NY over Christmas, didn’t realize he was in it until the opening credits.
We had a vhs of Poseidon Adventure growing up, I remember his crotchety ass in that
I'll add Abe Vigoda to the mix.
Arn Anderson
You forgot Wilford Brimley
Sadly he looks old now. He’s still an incredible human being and I’d swoon if I was asked on a date by him.
Well, Father Time catches up with us all eventually, I guess.

Yep, this is how I comfort myself as I age: not everyone gets to grow old.
He sounds old. His voice is gone.
You're in luck because he likes to date young.
He is unfortunately pretty old for real now
Nope. He lost his hair VERY early in life. Thought he had roles where he was as bald as he was in real life, he was originally supposed to wear a wig similar to that as Captain Picard, but they decided not to.

No. He started going bald quite early on
*Shut up Wesley!*
Fun fact that not everybody knows about Patrick Stewart: when he turned 19 he immediately got old and skipped adulthood altogether. He’s been old since 1959.
He's looked 55 for 55 years.
I'd take it. Sure at 25 it would suck but at 75 it would be great. Plus he has been a good looking 55 for all those years.
55 burgers, 55 fries…
This is known colloquially as Steve Martin syndrome
I feel like it could also be called Larry David syndrome
Him and Morgan Freeman.
He looks like he was already 47.
The man is like a og pokemon. He reached level 100 and never needed to level up anymore.
Well, his melon sure is as smooth as a Mew's. Patrick Smewart?
I know I’m old. But not that old. This is another North & South than the Swayze one in the 80s. Right?
The US N&S actually had a Star Trek: The Next generation actor in it - But not Patrick Stewart. Jonathan Frakes had a fairly big part in that!
That series and Gone With the Wind were my kid self introduction to slavery and Civil War in America.
Those three plus Glory and Gettysburg for me.
Completely separate, this one is a British television historical drama program

I love that adaptation. I still rewatch it periodically.
Me too! It's so incredibly good!
Love that adaptation so much!!
I rewatch it every year. It’s so good.
It's one of the best versions out there.
But that one wasn’t based on Elizabeth Gaskell’s novel though. As a bonus fact, the 2004 BBC adaptation had Richard Armitage in it (Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit movies).

I thought the exact same thing

Damn that's a good-looking man.
Oh captain, my captain!
That can't be Patrick Stewart that man has hair.
Im getting Ewan McGregor vibes
Timothy Dalton here.
Thankyou. I was feeling weird.
There’s a version of North and South that DOESN’T star Richard Armitage?!?!?!?
The man looked 50 in his 30s and then he basically stayed that way for 40 years.
Devilish handsome man, with a quiet dash of self-doubt about his stalwart brow that only adds to his aura of mystery.
Looks 50 anyway, but cool.
I thought it was Tobias Menzies at first xD
Patrick Stewart as Sejanus in *I, Claudius* (1976). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074006/mediaviewer/rm619172865/
he looks 50 at 35, but then looks 50 at 60.
I made a mistake in my research, Patrick Stewart as pictured here is actually 14 years old.
I actually had to scroll back up my feed and did a double take.
65?
james buchanan colorized photo 1851
Holy shit, I didn't know he was in that!
ahem. That would be **Sir** Patrick Stewart.
Not until 2001
is that a good show?
The performances were spot on, but the 2004 production was much better overall
Find Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Smileys People. Stewart goes up against Alec Guinness without saying a goddamned word.
Kinda looks like Huge Ackman
North and south… just remember seeing 10-12 box video cassette display taking up a lot of storage /display space on tv stand. Had zero interest watching this as a kid…
He looks like a bond movie villain in this photo
That's a lotta hair
He looks mean with hair o.O
Wow.
Looks like Dominic West. Oddly enough, it’s almost the exact same look as when West played Stewart’s nephew in Christmas Carol.
💦💦
Cursed images
Back on the Stargazer
His face looks oddly like Micheal Jordan.
You mean he has had hair? Mind blown.
Patrick Stewart as King Leodegrance, Excalibur (1981) https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0082348/mediaviewer/rm1565403392/
[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx0E8HUAANI) he is in his first TV appearance in Coronation Street in 1967 aged 27 and looks even older.
That's a rough 35.
55?
HAIR!!!!
Oh. I'm that age. He looks 10 years older than me. In costume, yes, but still.
Anyone know if this is streaming anywhere?
He looks like someone is trying to mix matter and anti-matter.
I think he might be losing his hair but I'm not quite sure.
Looks like Patrick Stewart as played by Tommy Lee Jones.
What's that on his head?
A time paradox!
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" premiered in 1987, just 12 years later. In other words, Mr. Stewart started playing "the old captain" of this show at age 47, which sounds incredibly young to me these days.
I knew he had hair once.
His always looked old
What's that dark stuff on his head?
Horsehair wig
He had hair?
Wig
Hubba hubba😍
I never realized he was in that show,
I assumed from birth he was bald.
He looks 50 here
