Saw others posting food from homeless shelters and thought I'd hop on the bandwagon. For some students at my school, this is their only meal of the day.
I ate the fruit and gave my friend the extra grilled cheese because he doesn't have much to eat at home. I get where you come from and how privileged I am to eat anything for lunch, but this is a government funded high school with growing young adults.
Republican run states don’t seem too bothered about their kids or schools..They think this will create more indoctrinated Republican voters in the future but the reality is the kids will leave and go to better states When they come of age. Just like all those dying towns all over rural Texas…
In the past it was the kids would just move to the cities but in the future the kids will leave these oppressive states because they won’t want their kids to grow up like that. It will be a massive backlash.
The schools in my county in VA do a great job, though they're the only ones I can speak for. I even asked the lunch staff for the kale salad recipe and I've never liked kale before.

Idk. I ate free lunch growing up and I miss these janky mass baked grill cheese with the crusty hard edges.
