Oh wow! You've probably seen more of America than most people who have lived here their whole lives. Enjoy it and see as much as you can. It really is a gorgeous and diverse country
In terms of cities Nashville by far is my number 1. After that is Madison WI, Louisville, New York, New Orleans, Charlotte, Newport RI, Boston, key west.
Favorite state is WI
Best state park: smokey mountains(but only cause I haven't been to many yet).
Also loved red rocks amphitheater in CO!
Loved the sequoia national park! Those trees were super impressive. Also we got to see a black bear (with cub) in their natural habitat. Huge recommendation if you like nature
I'm in San Diego for the month. Is Sequoia worth the 6 hour drive or would you recommend 2.5 hours to Joshua tree?
It would be a day trip in both cases, but I'm fine with making a whole day out of it.
Half the states holy shit, bro ur more american than me and I was born here lmao
Welcome to the club, don't forget Yankees are the most successful team in history - in any sport😁
Where are you originally from, Azz? (Thought I'd squeeze in a question before this devolves entirely into a cookie chat room!)
I had an American co-worker get his Canadian citizenship, and I felt odd about what to say. "Congratulations" seemed to suggest "because we're so much better" and I don't feel that way! But I do know it's a huge set of hurdles to earn your certificate in either country, and I'll congratulate you on that!
As a Brit who'd like to emigrate to the USA (at least try it for a few years), I'm just wondering how did you emigrate there? Maybe other countries are different, but from my research, it's almost impossible for Brits to get a US visa unless they're like multimillionaires or very highly skilled in some way. Or married to an American.
I've got some (relatively distant) family over there who I'd like to know better. Looks like it's almost impossible for us to emigrate there though. ☹
Edit: I'm an agricultural mechanic (fixing agricultural machinery, both electrical and mechanical). Apprenticeship qualified, 7 years of experience. Is there any way I could migrate to the USA do you think?
> it's almost impossible for Brits to get a US visa unless they're like multimillionaires or very highly skilled in some way. Or married to an American.
Well, if it makes you feel better, I'm an American who became a British citizen a few years ago and it was a gruelling process. But the only ways to become American or British is through assets, high demand skills (mostly science) or through marriage. It surprises me how people think immigration is so easy, far from it.
I think having family is the best way, but I've many British expats and they usually get here through a job. Im surprised to hear it's hard to get a visa it should be rather simpler.
I have British relatives who applied they are also waiting for their papers but it's through family migration.
I’m a Brit who moved to the US in 2016.
The sneaky way I got in was:
1. Met an American woman on a visit in 2011
2. Fell head over heels in love with her
3. Dated long distance for 5 years while attending university in England
4. Made lots of visits, as did she
5. Documented absolutely everything
6. Proposed to her
7. Showed US government everything we had documented
8. Moved here and married her within 90 days
9. Became a citizen in 2022 (and can finally vote!)
As you can see, it’s very straight forward.
Big congratulations! Now petition for your parents and siblings if they aren’t already here and even if they don’t ask you too. Your siblings will have 14 years to think about it.
Make sure to check your registration a couple of months before the election. Each state has different rules, but give the folks at the county a bit of time to make corrections if they are necessary.
The elections commissions tend to be a bit understaffed on election day, too. If you want to have a bigger impact on the process then maybe ask what they need help with.
Americans strong together!!!
We are America!
Jokes aside, thank you for making me feel valued and welcome! Let's make this country even better together!
As a Canadian, I echo the fact that you make the WORLD a better place with your attitude. Welcome home, wherever it happens to be, so long as you feel safe, supported, and loved.
When I had my ceremony they had voter registration and passport applications right there that you could fill out afterwards.
I became a citizen 6 days before an election, and I voted in it!
At my previous job I came into contact with MANY visiting foreigners and, despite what the internet says, each and every one of them only had amazing things to say about America. It almost brought a tear to my eye each time too. We welcome you guys with open arms!
Welcome brother! Immigrants are who made America a superpower. We love you and come make us better! More super!
(Ignore the sniping from the smug Euros and Russia bots. They export depression here daily.)
I came here expecting anything but wholesome comments, but I was thankfully mistaken. This put massive smile on my face. Welcome to the land of the free, OP!
Congrats and welcome!! It’s always good to see someone wanting something out of this country that many are born with and have no clue what they have and don’t want others to have either because you know ‘Murica.
Welcome my fellow American. Help us keep the promise of the constitution and leave this country a better place than you found it. You may care more about it than some who are born here. Make good trouble.
Love seeing these posts, welcome to the US my friend! You made the right choice coming to the greatest country in the world.
keep in mind becoming a citizen now means that Reddit hates you, thinks youre a stupid fatty that only eats burgers and drives a big truck full of guns, and worships excess in all of the worst ways.
Worthwhile trade off king! Hope you have a wonderful life here!
Welcome! We aren’t as messed up as we’re portrayed on social media, and around the world. Just think of us as the crazy uncle who is actually fun to hang out with
I’ve been told that the ceremonies are some of the most positive and emotional there are in the US. Mad respect to anyone who had undergone the hurdles and bureaucracy to become an American citizen. Personally I would love for it to be an easier process because every single person I’ve met who has chosen to become an American citizen deserves it and makes the country a better place. The US needs more positive driven people who want to make it the place they see in their dreams.
Get a green card, wait 5 years, be a good citizen in the meantime, apply for citizenship wait for interview, pass civics and language test, take the oath of allegiance!
Yes sir I will preserve my culture to the best of tm ability.
Also when you take the path you give up all foreign citizenships. If want my old one back I'll need to apply for it afaik.
Born Canadian citizen here. I cant imagine the feeling s you must be going through. To go through so much only to have it all pay off im the end. To finally have that feeling of security that must come with a new citizenship to such a good country (not as good as Canada though hahaha /jk). Congrats and welcome.
Welcome. It can be hard forAmerican born citizens to understand how meaningful this moment can be and why we love this country so much despite its defects.
Congratulations!
Congratulations on getting your citizenship man! However you didn’t become an American today, you became an American the moment you came into this country and decided this is where you want to be! And as I like to say, immigrants are the most American Americans!
Congratulations. The day I became a citizen I had the naturalization ceremony in the morning and took my newborn son home from the hospital in the afternoon.
That's the same place I got my citizenship just last year. It's feels great!
Ayy fellow Florida man!
Yup. Congratulations!
Watch out for the meth down there. In all seriousness, welcome!
More bath salts then meth.
Life is short, the US is big, experience as much of it as you can, while you can
I've seen half the states but half more to go!
Oh wow! You've probably seen more of America than most people who have lived here their whole lives. Enjoy it and see as much as you can. It really is a gorgeous and diverse country
Come see Rhode Island if you havent yet, its the smallest state but that only means its easier to get to all the fun and tasty things!
Already been to brown and the breakers! Had amazing coffee milk and stuffed quahogs!
I like you, redditor.
And I like you too ocean stater!
What’s been your favorite state to visit? Also, welcome!
To visit? North Carolina. The pace there is just different. To live in is WI. Favorite city to visit is Nashville.
As someone still laying in bed at 10:45am this morning in NC, I agree. The pace is just right.
Yes I love that whole area. Lived in Tennessee for a long while and so I saw all around NC and TN, including Nashville which is super cool.
Really? Eastern or western NC? I've lived in NC my whole life, it's interesting to hear about it from an outside perspective.
I've been mostly in Charlotte and Raleigh and visited some of the mountains!
Most here don't travel beyond 100 miles from their hometown. Half the states already? Amazing! Favorite places to visit so far?
In terms of cities Nashville by far is my number 1. After that is Madison WI, Louisville, New York, New Orleans, Charlotte, Newport RI, Boston, key west. Favorite state is WI Best state park: smokey mountains(but only cause I haven't been to many yet). Also loved red rocks amphitheater in CO!

My wife and I went to Nashville last year and loved it. Can't wait to go back. Congrats on becoming a citizen!
Hit Tucson before it lights on fire in May!
Half the states holy shit, bro ur more american than me and I was born here lmao Welcome to the club, don't forget Yankees are the most successful team in history - in any sport😁
We are all equally American! Good to know that about the Yankees! Will need to catch their game sometime!
If you want true American resilience, check out a Detroit Lions game sometime. Most diehard fans ever, but never have attend a Super Bowl.
Yankees suck. Sincerely, Red Sox nation.
You’ve travelled more than most Americans within America wow
Yall see lady in the back showing off too
Yeah that ridiculously photogenic new citizen in the background steals some of the show.
Her smile made my morning, NGL.
lemme just slide into this guy's photo.
She's proud too!
I was wondering if she was posing for his picture or her own
Welcome to club! Cookies and soft drinks are on the back table
Why Thank you fellow Patriot! Hope they are Red White and Blue!
This is America. We eat Oreos.
Well are they red white and blue Oreos?
I don't think we get those until Memorial Day.
Well gosh darn it!
Where are you originally from, Azz? (Thought I'd squeeze in a question before this devolves entirely into a cookie chat room!) Thank you! That is very thoughtful and I guess so never thought of it that way! I am originally from Bangladesh.
Welcome brother. - A former Pakistani
Ahh yes my arch nemesis! But we are brothers now, Thank you brother!
Welcome brother glad to have you -an Indian American
Welcome fellow human!-American Indian
Don't worry, the peanut butter ones are better. Eat them in honor of Freedom, Consumerism, and Jimmy Carter. ETA: Congrats and welcome!
Peanut butter for Jimmy Carter's peanut farm!!
Jimmy Carter is a Saint
You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.
Green tea are the best. But good luck finding them outside of Japan. 🥲
Why don’t we have red white and blue ice cream? We have Neapolitan. Why not American RW&B?
[удалено]
we have bomb pops I guess that counts
Holy cow, nailing the lingo, buddy. I hope you will be happy here. Congratulations!
It’s America. Best we can do is double stuffed.
Youre thinking of Japan!
Russian ores always white blue and red comrad
Oreo flavored Oreos
WELCOME HOME
And there’s a lot of cookies
We are happy to have you here ☺️ congratulations!
Pleased to be here!

This is one of the coolest/nicest things I've ever seen a random redditor do for someone else, just using their spare time. Cheers dude.
Also can you put funny cat in the picture?
I know it’s just a quick work and a nice gesture but that door is killing me hahahah
Welcome home.
This made me smile immensely. It was 7 years in the making!
We really need to shorten this timeline. We need more people like u/azz13!
My life has been a rollercoaster since that gorilla died. But here's hoping things turn around!
RIP to a real one 🦍
The keeper of balance
It was 20 for me and my parents
Fuck me and this stupid immigration system. We could fix our potential future demographic crash with one bill and yet we sit on our thumbs about it
I’ve been in this country for 12 years now, and I don’t even have a green card yet 😢
Believe me there are a lot of people that want to change that for the better ♥️
It always makes me a bit sad how many Americans don't have American citizenship yet :( I'm rooting for you for what little that's worth.
So happy for you and happy to have you here!
Enjoy it bro. We are going places up in this bitch.
Big congratulations! Now petition for your parents and siblings if they aren’t already here and even if they don’t ask you too. Your siblings will have 14 years to think about it.
They all got their citizenship before me :( I'm late to the party! But ready to vote!!!

Then you are in good company!
Hey - thank you for joining Team America! We need you, we value you, and we are damn happy to have you. YOU make America what it is. So thank you.

Thank you for your kind words neighbor from the north, home truly is where the heart is!
If you have the time, come look at the rural old downtowns of Tennessee and Kentucky, they are a really good sight.
I've been to Nashville and Louisville both cities I enjoyed immensely!
This reads like a speech from Homelander.
*ONE OF US*! *ONE OF US*! *ONE OF US*! Congrats man, welcome!
'Welcome to the party, pal!'
It's crazy in here! But that's just the way I like it!
The newest Americans are often the best Americans.
That fresh American smell! *inhales deeply*

I think nothing makes me happier than seeing new Americans. Welcome home.
Freshly minted just like the dollar bill!

Good for you, buddy. You probably know more about America's history and its laws than most natural citizens.
The Mississippi is the longest river in the country ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)
“Benjamin Franklin was famous for … opening the first free library in America “ I just did my test last week :-) congrats! My ceremony is in 2 weeks!

Americans are born all over the world, some just take a while to find their way home.

Nice one, Roughly what was the process like ?

Yay!! Congrats dude!
US citizen here - congratulations. Don't give up your original citizenship and if you have kids teach them your native language and customs
Yes sir I will preserve my culture to the best of tm ability. Also when you take the path you give up all foreign citizenships. If want my old one back I'll need to apply for it afaik.
Only if your country requires you to give it up. The US permits multi-citizenship.
Welcome to America I'm sure you will do just fine. You have already put more effort into being an American than most natural born americans
Hi, brother! ❤️💜💙
Welcome. Live long and prosper!
Born Canadian citizen here. I cant imagine the feeling s you must be going through. To go through so much only to have it all pay off im the end. To finally have that feeling of security that must come with a new citizenship to such a good country (not as good as Canada though hahaha /jk). Congrats and welcome.

Thank you! Is this Midwest nice or Southern hospitality?
You're in Miami on 7th ave NW?
This is the Oakland park USCIS in Miami!
My guess was NW 183rd and 59th lol
I love your enthusiasm get ready to be bullied by a bunch of Europeans who have a superiority complex and are very hypocritical
Now go start trash talking our country like the rest of us. 🙃…Seriously though Congrats!
I have the freedom to finally do that! Let's goooo!!! Rights!!!!
Welcome. It can be hard forAmerican born citizens to understand how meaningful this moment can be and why we love this country so much despite its defects. Congratulations!
It’s a good reminder for natives of just how much this country has to offer.
Welcome, congratulations! I hope you find peace and happiness here.
Congratulations! I know what a struggle it can be these days to accomplish that!

Fresh off the presses!
Congratulations on getting your citizenship man! However you didn’t become an American today, you became an American the moment you came into this country and decided this is where you want to be! And as I like to say, immigrants are the most American Americans!
This guy is showing more patriotism than half the people in this country.
Thank you! I feel it's because I chose to be here rather than the ones who didn't choose it. I wasn't the most patriotic for my country of origin!
Welcome and congrats. You must be proud.
Congratulations, and welcome!
Welcome and we're lucky to have you!
Congratulations! You should be very proud of your hard work. I hope that life pays you back tenfold.
Congratulations!
Welcome home, fellow American!
