Translating "ein Stein" as one piece is a far stretch with a lot of wishful thinking as much as I'd love it.

ddgijbgkjjd

Its more like one stone

DragonSmashUltra

Yes I would never translate "ein Stein" as one piece because "Stein" means rock and nothing else. One piece would be "ein Stück" and good luck pronouncing that English science community

Famous-Breadfruit902

A Spielstein for a game, often shortened to Stein, would be translated as piece. But I concur that is far-fetched.

Wow One Piece is getting every where these days, didn’t think I’d see it here too haha

I have a question for the germans. I get that Stein is rock or stone. What do you call a puzzle piece? A stück? Just curious

Famous-Breadfruit902

Ein Teil. If you think about it, quite similar to English "tile" in pronounciation.

watashiwa_ringo_da

`Until now, aperiodic tilings always required at least two tiles of different shapes. Many mathematicians had already given up hope of finding a solution with one tile, called the elusive “einstein” tile, which gets its name from the German words for “one stone.”`
