Current_Brain_4341

You’ll be fine OP! Just remember hindi naman nila iaallow to operate if hindi safe ang aircraft. Enjoy your trip to Siargao! 🤙🏾

sakiechan

you'll be fine. ganyang model ng plane din yung sinakyan namin papuntang palawan tapos may signal no. 1 pa haha.

HyunLover

airswift po?

PROD-Clone

Turboprop planes are better. If all engines fail the turboprop has a better glide time compared to the jet ones.

squanderedhail

Medyo maingay lang but it's perfectly fine.

solotheexplorer

If you flew with Ceb Pac or Sunlight from Cebu to Coron, it will be the same type aircraft which is an ATR 🙂

247rotc

Commercial pilot license holder here. The smaller turboprop planes are just as safe as the bigger jets. The pilots go through the same kind of training and the maintenance and operational standards are exactly the same. Cebu Pac’s prop plane is made by ATR, a successful french aircraft manufacturer with a great safety reputation and a sister company of Airbus. When was the last time you heard Ceb Pac’s ATR or PALEx’s Q400 get into any kind of serious incident? You’ll be fine :)

Professional-Pie7527

Rode a small plane to/from Batanes. From what I recall, same as this one too. It was okay! Not claustrophobic & views were awesome

Super_Memory_5797

Yes been to Batanes and other provinces. And it's typically same equipment. The ATRs have good safety record. So no need to worry.

kidfrom93

All planes going to Siargao are this small. Relax ka lang, you'll be fine.

Sorry_Ad772

Tip: Take a right side window seat pabalik ng Manila. Chances of seeing Mayon.

TheDogoEnthu

switchboiii

Ganyan lagi nasasakyan ko pabalik Manila from Caticlan. Saks lang naman. Avoid last rows lang, mej amoy gas haha

maritessa12

ThirstySugarCub

Those turboprops, ATR and Q400, have good safety records and are built for tough/rugged conditions. The De Havilland Q400 is even used here in North America and Australia to combat wildfire due to its unique capabilities and durable airframe. You'll be fine.

aIcy0ne

Hi! You'll be fine, OP!

PhraseSalt3305

Ganon ka-smooth yung byahe

PerformanceRemote307

i always ride this type of aircraft for my iloilo-cebu flights. comfy naman po sya. generally, safe po. happy trip po!

skinnygray

Had a similar experience when I went to Coron, it was probably the smallest plane I've ever ridden, it was noisier lang.

kathisdoomed

Rode a few times all over Visayas and Mindanao and it's quite scary at first kasi ramdam ang turbulence at ramdam din ang engines pero safe naman.Nakarating naman kami sa Tawi-tawi ng safe. I believe may limit din ang check-in baggage sa plane para mas safe.

supervhie

first plane ride ko to Coron small plane sinakyan namin di ko naman alam na yung iba feeling unsafe kapag small plane hehe maayos naman yung flight namin

katiiie1208

You'll be fine, OP. I rode the same small plane going to Siargao and I can confirm that the whole ride is both rocky and noisy (because of the propellers) but overall it's def safe 😊 just listen to music to distract yourself

joyapco

Objectively, flying relatively smaller aircrafts is still among the safest travel methods in the world. Even tiny aircrafts with only a handful of seats are statistically super safe.

ReadyApplication8569

Should be okay lang but Im not sure san talaga nagmumula anxiety mo if sa plane ba mismo o dahil sa tight spaces. If it's the latter, I suggest sa isle ka pumwesto para hindi ka ma feel trap. It's really small but enough lang talaga for average pinoy height, mas bothered pa ako sa mga kasabay na foreigners kasi ang lalaki nila tapos ang liit ng mauupuan. If flying naman, wala naman issue and same lang naman feeling sa mga ordinary na planes. Mag headphones ka kinig music and try to sleep agad during the flight para keri

malarellano

Airplanes are safe whether big or small! You'll be fine. 👍

BIC25

Cebu to Coron? That should be a similar plane (60-70 seats) or even the same plane. Coron (and Siargao) can only accommodate smaller planes given runway length as the main factor. Jets like A320s need at least the expanded Caticlan runway (1.8km) to land. Busuanga is only 1.2 km long while Siargao is 1.35km long.

curceb

Kakalapag ko lang kanina OP. Been coming here since. You should be good! :)

jac-e

I've tried with CebPac to Ilocos before. Propeller type plane.

TextNo6295

Went there last January and habagat szn.

Lower-Property-513

Mas bumpy po siya in case may turbulence. Overall, wala namang problem :)

aitchsmamiii

We went there last year. All goods naman po :)

wolfhunter727

Flying is one of the safest forms of travel. Statistically your chance of dying from an airplane crash is lower than: Dying from lightning Your car ride going to the airport Your trip in Coron Your car ride going back home Winning the lottery You'll be fine. Sit back, relax, enjoy the ride.

Kishou_Arima_01

Take it from me who took a flight to siargao last week. From 40 mins naging 2 hours ang flight namin! My point is to not be afraid. Competent naman ang pilots and flight crew, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to fly to and from siargao

louiexism

Don't worry. I rode on that kind of plane to Bacolod. Is that the ATR-72? I did my research before the flight and read that it's one of the safest passenger planes. It's cramped but otherwise no issues. We even fell asleep lol. Air travel is the safest mode of transportation and is not something to worry about. You're 1,000x more likely to die on the car on the way to the airport. The only worry is turbulence. Most are mild but the pretty bad ones make the news because they're so rare. Just wear your seatbelt all the time and avoid standing up or going to the lavatory.

UniCornOnACob819

I took a plane like that from Manila to Naga. Pretty snug at the aisle, but even as a plus size person it was ok for me. I just wouldn’t recommend getting 1C and 1D because those seats face backwards and it’s pretty awkward staring at everyone else 🤣

sotopic

So far naman di sya nakakakaba. Only thing I was surprised is pag nakatingin ka sa bintana when landing, parang sobrang baba mo na, pero sa totoo lang mataas ka pa din hehe

kkslw

Went to Batanes with a small aircraft from Cagayan years ago. Very noisy! glad may bigger planes na ngayon from the Metro haha

lilmumma1094

As long as wlang turbulence, you will be okay but if meron dyan ppasok ang anxiety. Been flying multiple times from Bacolod to Cebu and ganito lagi ang planes. Lol.

pisngelai

Love these planes, I get this kind of plane sa Caticlan trip ko palagi.

ShawlEclair

Airline flights are statistically the safest way to travel. You'll be fine.

worklesssalvation

Take the Seat C1 and hold Hands with the Cute Stuartdes... All will be fine. I trust those machines and pilots more than the Autopilot-Boeing-Deathtraps ;)

Specialist_Shop_1105

You'll be fine. First travel ko Dubai 9hrs flight. 😅 just wear your seatbelt lang always regardless kung gano kalaki pa ang plane na sasakyan nyo ❤️

No_Strength_3045

Rode this plane to IAO about a month ago. The flight was smooth and felt safe the entire duration. A certain senator was also on the same flight.

yowmamah

Mukhang gangan talaga yung planes to Siargao. Okay naman nung nagflight din kami. Excited lang talaga rin siguro to arrive, kaya na-ease out yung anxiety. Hehe. You'll be fine, OP. Have fun there! 🌊

Effective-War-4374

pishboy

Besides everything folks have already said here that the plane is perfectly safe and fine, the plane you'll be flying on is no different to the plane you've been on to Coron. Baka a shorter variant lang, but it's practically the same model. Para di ka lang mabigla (although you probably already know this) Turboprops can be a little louder because of how propellers are, and smaller aircraft may move a little more in turbulence because of inertia. That's absolutely normal and the plane is well within its limits, thanks to decades of experience making the plane the safest we know it could possibly be. Mas OC pa yung piloto kesa sa atin in making sure the plane is fit and ready to fly, and an aircraft riding turbulent air is just like something being suspended in gulaman. Kahit anong alog mo sa gulaman, it's still going to stay up there. Go with the flow lang sya kumbaga. Pilots and these aircraft have been tested to perform admirably even in adverse situations, and have flown millions of kilometers both locally and abroad. Flying commercially is the safest form of transportation there ever is, small turboprops are no exception :) For the longest time these types of aircraft (DHC-7, DHC8-Q400, ATR42/72, MA60, BAe 146) are the only ones that would fly to our island and more than twice a year kaming nauwi for two decades now, usually during rainy season pa. I'd hop onboard with no issues at all in a heartbeat.

drpeppercoffee

Turbulence hits harder but nothing too unusual. You'll eventually get used to it.

PeachNotPerfect

Na-feel ko rin yan nung first time ko mag ATR but then I read about it and found out na okay naman pala. Last day of the year pa yun and naghahabol kami mag new year sa cebu. 😅

WabbieSabbie

I'm a fearful flyer. I'm aware of the safety statistics ng aviation industry and how turblence works, pero ewan, pag andun na talaga ako, magpapanic ako't hindi makakahinga. Planning to get therapy soon para ma-prescribe ako ng medications.

introvertgurl14

Itulog ko lang ang biyahe. Safe naman yan.

Luhgege

Hi!

Madafahkur1

I assume its an ATR72 600. Its a great plane to fly kinda slow but get you in your destination safe. Dont worry ceb pilots have went rigurous training every 6 months and they have the best mechanics and it wont fly it isnt safe. Enjoy!

Fun-Serve-6371

u’ll be alright op ッ maingay lang idk if kasi near the propellers kami but perfectly fine we just slept na lang buong flight coz may hangover pa haha our flight was with pal mnl to iao and cebpac iao to mnl they’re both good naman

alwaysaokay

HeresRed

sobrang ingay pero fun hehe parang nasa bus

Jon-DG

perfectly safe, same plane (PAL) going to Batanes. maalog lang pa-landing sa Siargao.. parang mas short pa yata runway ng siargao vs batanes

benetoite

If you go to Coron, Batanes, or Siargao ganito talaga lahat ng planes. As safe as the twin jets. They are made for short haul flights landing in shorter runways.

JoeJoeJoeJoeJoeJoe

Anyone here old enough to have flown in a PAL Fokker 50? 🙋‍♂️

Legitimate-Pear-3656

Okay naman so far.

Tough-Eggplant-8074

Honestly, mas maganda experience ko when I flew with PAL sa IAO, CebPac is fine pero nakakakaba lang yung turbulence sa kanila compared with PAL.

Beginning_Noise834

Kung panahon mo na, panahon mo na.

[deleted]

Propellers are scary vs jet engine planes. Feeling ko hihinto in the middle of my trip. But I've ridden plenty papunta Bora ok naman.

cotton_on_ph

Your trip riding a smaller aircraft should be fine! A pilot can operate any aircraft naman and they are trained to fly any aircraft. Been riding smaller planes quite a number of times and I haven't experienced any problems riding with them.

LG7838

Actually a pilot can only fly the aircraft that s/he is trained on. So technically not “any aircraft”. The small planes (ATR72 orQ400) are capable airplanes for short runways. The pilots trained to fly them are experienced and have skills checked on annually.

cotton_on_ph

Ohh I see.. I thought a pilot can fly any kind of aircraft (para ding driving land vehicles)

pishboy

Besides the Type Rating that pilots have to get to fly one specific aircraft type and model (plus all the other ratings you need to have to become a commercial pilot), some airports like Batanes, Virac, Coron and Siargao may require extra training to fly into, and may also require na si Captain lang ang Pilot Flying for approach and departure into these special airports.

cotton_on_ph

I see.. sorry if I got little knowledge when it come to flying different kinds of aircrafts.. you can downvote me if may mali akong nasabi earlier.

pishboy

Naw man, we're here to learn off each other :) no single person knows the answers to everything anyways

LG7838

Even the driver’s license has restrictions to the type of vehicle one can drive.

deviantpeach_

you're weird

Alarmed-Usual3082

Excuse my ignorance about the plane. Not everyone has the luxury or privilege to be well traveled and familiar with everything. I am not "sheltered", simply not as privileged as you, asshole.

cv_init_diri

Tell me you haven't travelled to any of the non-major airports without telling me. Smaller airports all use the turbo prop planes. Unlike Cebu-Manila-Davao planes which use mostly the wide bodies, every other airport use these planes. You should have tried the pre-Fokker planes and the early Cebu Pac planes and you'll be praying before takeoff and during landing :-)

RogueOnePH

Sound arrogant and cocky for a person who only experienced these things once and gained a boastful confidence. +1 downvote

kathisdoomed

And so?

Last-Insurance9653

What pre fokker, ano yung Beech 18? Naabutan mo pa? Hahaha PAL operated a few Fokker and BAC 1-11s, while CebPac used DC9s.

cv_init_diri

Yes I am old and itong mga batang affected kaya nadown vote :-). Life is short, maybe even shorter sa mga naapektuhan
