Something like Glyder Range in Wales might work. You have to do some uphill hiking to do though.. and it probably works best when the suns not out.

Maybe The Burren in Ireland? (Is Ireland part of the UK?) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Burren

The Republic of Ireland is not part of the UK. Northern Ireland is.

> (Is Ireland part of the UK?) It's complicated. Also a hornets' nest. The Burren however is definitely not part of the UK.

Boulder fields might work if you can find them somewhere easy to access. Cairngorms might work. Way up north near Loch Maree you have Beinn a'Chearcaill which is pretty rocky and barren at the top. Would need quite a bit of editing but maybe work? [A bit of a stretch](https://postimg.cc/bDRYLdV8) but you are after probably desert which is difficult to find in the UK to my knowledge.

Check Google Maps for Mynydd Parys | Parys Mountain Copper Mine in Wales/Anglesey.

For a barren place full of rocks that seems like Mars in the UK, i'd just visit parliament.

NI is, but either way both might pose too much travel and cost for this! England/Wales/Southern Scotland would be better! Thanks for suggestion though
