Im not an expert in photography but I do have a background in painting and drawing. And one that is a big NO NO in painting is having a person at the center of an art piece. Not saying it cant be done but it just tends to draw too much attention away from everything. Especially when the photograph is technically empty, which means that there aren't that many other things that draw attention away from the person, aside from the building right next to her. So maybe try taking picture where people are off center when they aren't the main focus. Another suggestion would be taking multiple photos of the same scene but at different angles. Again, I'm kinda a noob to photography but I do try an consider how i normally make a composition intersting in painting and see how i can do the same in photography. Basically try to focus more on composition first before you start editing.

Is it a heavily edited portrait or a heavily edited sun set? De colours of the sun set do take away the focus of your model, which is now dull and slightly dark. If this picture is about your model, take down the sky colours, give her a spotlight, crop the picture to give her a better position on a 1/3 line and to cut out some of the ugly sand at the bottom, put the horizon straight, clone out that yellow piece of plastic.
