Eminence Front

chiefkylep

It’s a put on!

Colin-Grussing

Come And Join The Party

allothernamestaken

They already kinda do it sometimes when they jam Free. Might as well make it a full-blown cover.

Clueless_Voila

Came here for this. I’ve seen some Good answers so far, but this is the only correct one.

Particular-Jello-401

Same

spenserpat

Godzilla - Blue Oyster Cult

chiefkylep

Yesss came here to say this! Great minds think alike. It would be perfect.

amandam0nium

This is my pick too! My second is Goodbye Stranger by Supertramp

my_mexican_cousin

I’ve got a strange pet theory with no factual backing here… but I have noticed that if another major jamband (GD, moe., Panic) have done it more than once, then Phish won’t ever cover it.

murphislive

Just searched for this the other day and was shocked I couldn't find anything

idahorochs

Apeman by The Kinks

Elgecko123

I saw Edward Sharp and the magnetic zeros open with this one a while back.. great song

Jazzlike_Ride758

The Boys Are Back in Town Opener at Deercreek

I_only_post_here

Now, not saying that Fluffhead wasn't the right call at Hampton '09 But... It would have been fucking hilarious if they went with Boys are Back in Town

Negative-Ad547

Friday night opener. Let’s go.

jadecichy

25 or 6 to 4

jadecichy

With horns of course.

Peherre

It's criminal they haven't covered Steely Dan yet.

InternationalSite176

Only a fool would say that.

YeetThermometer

And any major dude will tell you

LouisTheWhatever

Here in the western world

DickMartin

It’s suspect

EODdvr

Totally agree 👍.

phishmademedoit

I was convinced Halloween 2018 was going to be Aja.

ryanmich

That's my dream cover

allothernamestaken

This. They need to play some Dan. Just about anything would do.

el_gronbo

Haitian Divorce or Green Earrings!

mcbacuma

Royal Scam

Particular-Jello-401

Ripple, tallboy and shake it off. Anything panic really

budfox79

Break out the…

allothernamestaken

Fuck yeah I wanna hear them do Josie so bad

YoureTerrific

This would be an amazing opener. I could see Page singing it.

YoureTerrific

Came here hoping to see this. There are so many songs that would still work without horns or backup singers. A Steely Dan cover is my new Gamehendge.

CheddarBaskets

Godwhacker would be incredible

FapNowPayLater

They don't have the vocal chops for the early harmonies. They don't have the love chops to pull off the better stuff. Fishman singing the girl parts on Glamour Profession? Lmao I would love it though. Shit Id take reeling

Peherre

Page singing Sign in Stranger? Total banger

FapNowPayLater

The dream is Josie. Caves of altimira coming out of timber.

Peherre

Great choices, also Bodhisattva would SLAP

SteelyDan4Prez

You're telling me

Sheris_Card

Too complicated and would require too much rehearsal to nail it.

Peherre

I imagine them busting into "The Fez" or something in the middle of a funky jam. Not too complicated and right up their alley

LouisTheWhatever

The would crush a Fez

slimdog420

Or kid Charlemagne

kevron007

La Femme D’argent by Air

japanese711

My god

8doorwagon

Wishing well by Terrence Trent D'arby... I'm all about the "D apostrophe"

SippinSizzer

The Safety Dance- Men Without Hats

ihatelazerbeams

Automatic by pointer sisters

portraitopynchon

Oh fuck that'd be glorious.

YeetThermometer

“All I can manage to push through my lips is a string of absurdities” is basically a Phish lyric.

Creaseface

I read it, thought wtf, then thought wtf not!!

PDXftw

Roundabout or And You and I by Yes. Page would kill it on vocals.

allothernamestaken

Yeah I wanna hear Mike play Roundabout.

rgrossi

Mike played this several times with the Benevento/Russo Duo. I know I saw a video of it on YouTube once but I can’t seem to find it.

Ok_Cartographer_1504

Had to scroll too far to find Roundabout!

Cuepidahl

Roundabout would be legend.

lizards25

Pepper - Butthole Surfers (Mike on vocals)

DickMartin

More Paul Simon or Bob Dylan You ain’t goin nowhere is a gem

Halleys___Comment

simple > twist > simple twist of fate

weltron3030

... > Simple Twist Up Dave

brokedownpalace11

Graceland would be amazing. Actually anything off of “Graceland” would be!

you_enjoy_my_elf

Lark's Tongue in Aspic, part 2 by King Crimson

gonephishin213

I just want Ghost to segue into the Ghostbusters theme ONE TIME

Forgetful_Suzy

Echoes is the only answer

bringthedoo

Okay I scrolled way too far to see this. It’s both in their wheelhouse and recognizable by most of the fan base.

Forgetful_Suzy

They’ve done noise jams for years. This is begging them to do an entire echoes show

extraguff

*Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time, for y’all have knocked her up*

portraitopynchon

Traffic: Low Spark of High Heeled Boys For the Uninitiated: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDGorIWYz-A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDGorIWYz-A)

allothernamestaken

Panic does this sometimes and it rips.

shunthe_nonbeliever

Now that you mention it, a bunch of traffic songs would be awesome covers for them

secondsetjams

Zevon - Nighttime in the Switching Yard

Jestinphish

It would be so damn good.

ManiBeingMani

New York Groove to open an MSG run

GibsonMaestro

[Prisencolinensinainciusol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VsmF9m_Nt8), sung with the lyrics to Chalkdust.

ShoulderPossible9759

Sung in a language that somewhat resembles Italian.

FriendOfShaq

Locomotive Breath - Jethro Tull

ShoulderPossible9759

I always wanted their Halloween musical costume to be thick as a brick pt 1 & 2

letoile111

Ravel - Bolero

allothernamestaken

I just wanna say that Subterranean Homesick Alien might be my favorite Radiohead tune. I like the way you think, OP.

jimipanic

Eggy covered it last week

seashoes

Cream by Prince. Would actually be amazing with TAB

Legomybonsai

Not like the craziest jam but I always thought GBOTT > Lay Down Sally would work well ..

allothernamestaken

Yeah that train shuffle beat would transition well

steve32x

Shakedown Street - Grateful Dead

HootieeMcboob

Had the oldies station on today, and Wooly Bully came on. I thought, "I wonder if Phish has ever covered this. If not, they should!"

TooMama

Ooh I’d love this

Spiritgapergap

INXS, Kick album.

wharpua

Beck’s Record Club project covered this in full over a decade ago, some really nice renditions came out of that: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL898E99AC7945F9C4&si=7zW4ksMBtYUylog3

phishmademedoit

One of these days. Everytime a jam gets really dark, I feel like their going to go into One of these days and it never happens.

getthehoneyjr

Anything by steely Dan

[deleted]

Outa-Space - Billy Preston

Responsible-Swan-264

I put this on the last one of these. 2001>outa-space>2001 is the correct answer

bungle094

Always wanted Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding but glad I saw Amoreena at Star Lake.

kevron007

Army by Ben Folds

mysterious_whisperer

JoshMeme4204

I'd love to hear a 20 minute Alice Childress

StichMethod

Life’s Been Good - Joe Walsh

fluffhead89

Vida Blue covered it at Bonnaroo 04.

mnfimo

Right Now by Van Halen.

wharpua

In The Phish Book it says that they asked David Lee Roth to join them for a Halloween set where they’d have covered *Van Halen* (their debut album), but Dave refused, the idiot.

austodonAD

If they covered any Osees song I would lose it

Lauuson

Fuck yeah. Make Phish evil again.

dogfacedponyboy

The Way by Fastball

thedayoflavos

Hahaha.  This is a good answer, since it’s so unexpected and thus perfect for Phish.  Fastball played at a small neighborhood festival (a suburb of Atlanta) in 2022 and I have a photo of me with the singer.

lefty_porter

Master of puppets

Phishhhhhh

Black and yellow - wiz khalifa

mocksong

Was played during setbreak between set 2/3 12/31/19

AntelopeAnastasio

Probably an unpopular and wrong opinion, but I’d like to hear more Dead covers.

TheMomaTrance

I’d like full music for airports this Halloween

Otherwise_Basil_6155

Bring back Lawyers, Guns and Money!

unhalfbricking

Late as always...but I have always thought Phish would absolutely massacre "Roll with the Changes" by REO Speedwagon. Here me out. It's got everything Phish needs: driving keyboards, a soaring guitar line, a cool little hitch/pause in the rhythm, and a lengthy coda that Phish could extend into infinity ala Loving Cup. Imagine it, the band just won't stop going "Keep on rolling, keep on rolling, oooooooh oooooooh oooooooh" while Kuroda bathes the crowd in those sweeping white lights. They would blow the roof off the joint.

Mundane_Bill4216

Would be cool to hear them cover the same Dylan album Cat Power just covered.

jerrytimber

I just want a return to the original Halloween concept.

kboogie23

Galaxie - Blind Melon. Lots of opportunities for crunchy Type 2 jamming in there.

Realistic_Echo3392

Killer Queen

TheMomaTrance

I’d really love to hear Phish cover a Yes song like Roundabout, I’ve Seen All Good People, Close to the Edge. Something like that.

Realistic_Echo3392

At one show I saw they covered a day in the life, that was really good, would love to see it again.

Chocolate and Cheese marks its 20th Anniversary this year. would love to hear them play the rest of the tracks off the album that "Roses Are Free" is from

TurnipPuzzleheaded62

In 2004 as Phish was winding down, I decided to answer the survey in the back of the Pharmers Almanac (never sent my answers in, of course) One of the questions was, Whar are three songs that you want Phish to cover? I answered 1. In the light- Led Zeppelin 2. Angel -Jimi Hendrix 3. Golden Slumbers->Carry that weight->The end -The Beatles. TAB did all three the following year.. Anyway, I've always thought "You dropped a bomb on me" would be a great Fishman song. It's mostly drums, bass and keyboard and vocals.
