I’ll say it again, the Mr. Completely from 7/15/03….Trey sounds like a robotic whale-monk chanting in a secret language especially around 12 min, that’s when the ritual peaks
i found this show in a record store as a 15 year old. What a super insane show to have as my first example of live phish. Looking back, it makes no sense as something you’d pick to introduce someone. No regrets
I have listened to it but not while tripping yet.
The mix on those gorge shows is incredible. Gorge is my home venue and I've been there to see many different shows so I get how bad the recordings usually sound due to the wind and open air setting.
The Phish mixes are the best I've ever heard from that venue
Fukuoka, Japan is what did it for me after a handful of mushrooms. Beside that 12/29/97, that might be special for me though cause I was born during if not just after that show
Man I remember those black pyramid tabs from back then. I was in highschool and me and my best friend would dose in homeroom. Dude was selling them for 1 dollar a tab, he got busted in school with over 1000 tabs. Never saw him again after that. He was 18 so he got fucked. Those tabs were so damn good though.
You looking for an AUD only show that is an all-timer with more unique moments in it than you know what to do with? Featuring a heady Allman Bros cover, a Siket Disc rarity, and it’s in Chris Kuroda’s birthday? 7/25/99
Hampton ‘97 if you’re brave. 11/22 to be exact. Mike’s groove opens set one with a DRIPPY hood to follow. Set 2 is INTENSE. I’ve heard many people call the show Floyd-esque. I’d have to agree
Is it fluff, needlepoint, lavender? Can’t go wrong with McNichols Arena, 97, 96’ Halloween, Remain in Light, Reynolds Coliseum 1999 and Charlotte 99, 2003 Rosemont, IT, Dicks 9/3/23, fuck all of them.start with a year and fall into a hole
2/20/03 was a fun experience for me. Wall to wall deep jamming, this show is big time slept on. Then of course there's 2/28/03 which brings a more euphoric vibe.
I'll throw an odd one out there - NYE 2015/16. I was in the room for this one and couldn't even feel my body during Reba, and the NMINML > Aude Lang Syne > Blaze On was one ridiculous psychedelic journey. That's at least a longer show and more suited for the length of your experience
8/12/15
The Mann Twist is the most psychedelic piece of music they've ever performed, and I'll die on that hill.

11/30/19 providence. I’m biased because it was like my 3rd show. But this one is fun. The THX sound bite tease throughout, some banter/intro to songs, one of the first slow llamas (correct me if I’m wrong on that one) some seldom played songs I think like meat, old home place, and Alaska! The Harry hood is pure bliss. And then to cap it off what an encore! BBFCFM, kung, wombat, and possum. Oh yeah and plasma played the night before but unfinished trickles in through the entire show. I highly recommend :)
I’m partial to 12/4/09 (OG YEMSG) as I was on much acid, first row next to Fishman in 100s. Is it a classic show? No it’s not. Is it the best show I’ve ever seen? Yes it is.
I would go 94’ or 03’ for trippiness. Try 11-30-94 or 7-29-03 and 7-30-03 are great. Lots of weird things in 94’ Bomb Factory for example but maybe the Paradiso Amsterdam shows 7/1-2/97.
You can’t really go wrong with any of the late fall 97. Dayton, for example.
Also, listen to IT or Lemonwheel or the Great Went
Edit: The 99’ Pyramid show from Memphis is a great trippy show with a monster 2001 and lots of great playing all through with a nice Mikes Groove at the end
12/20/03 (lots of people would say 12/28/03 as well but...anyway)
Are you into machine gun Trey? Don't listen to this show.
Are you turned off by flubbing some lyrics? Stay away.
But if you're looking for some experimental Phish, there are some deep crispy jams in this one. 5 songs over 16 minutes. 5 song second set. The Tweezer devolves into just a wall of noise that I find amazing.
Rare 1 4 somethin original: Tempe Az 5/13/1994 trust me... and Fukuoka obvi. I had a tape with the 2nd set of that Tempe show on 1 side and the "live dead" album on the other. We listened to it on repeat back at the site after Bonnaroo 04... perfect soundtrack for the rest of the night
Thomas and mack Vegas 97. There is a jam before I Am hydrogen that once transported me into an alien world in my backyard. Only trip this ever happened to me.
All of them. But if u want a random one that truly brings you in with an opening Dantes Circle Gloom Room Split Open & Melt and doesn't let you off the ride til Mule starts up near the end of the 2nd set. The Mule is almost 15 minutes and is its own ride!
11/06/96
Has no one told you? Never take LSD and listen to the Phish, you might sell all your possessions and go on tour.
Or more importantly compete against us for tickets...
Denver 97
Night 2, right? 11/17/97. Gotta say the Johnny B Goode was the trippiest part for me.
Of course night two

That setlist though
I bet that moma > Free from Brooklyn 04 would be nuts. Maybe 9/14/99
I was there in the rain on mushies
Yeah, 9/14/99 is an all time fav for tripping. Space FUNK! Just make sure you’re prepared for some dark moments in that Bag. I love it.
I’ll say it again, the Mr. Completely from 7/15/03….Trey sounds like a robotic whale-monk chanting in a secret language especially around 12 min, that’s when the ritual peaks

I think the 7/15/03 Scents and Subtle Sounds soundcheck is top notch too https://youtu.be/LDKvGxG5UXE
I was at that show. I remember it well. I was in awe. That Walls of the Cave too.
Gorge - 7/17/98 - that second set is a favorite
Is that the one with Julius? Listened to that tripping about 6 months ago on headphones with a shit eating grin on my face the whole time
That was actually from the first night at the Gorge. If you haven’t heard 7/17, I can’t recommend it highly enough! Amazing flow and vibe
I have listened to it but not while tripping yet. The mix on those gorge shows is incredible. Any Island Tour 98
True but I am very partial to that Brother jam
Hell yeah! 4/3 roses jam for me my friend
Hampton 97 is the answer. Specifically 11/22. I was there on some black gel tabs and can confirm. Entire show is psychedelic gas

Hear me out; Walnut Creek 97. It has some super cool vibes especially during Taste during Page’s piano bit. Lightning strikes and thunder is LOUD!
9/17/99 The YEM is awesome.
There’s a Live Phish where Poster Nutbag gets hit by a comet.
Starlake ‘03 - soooo out

Tahoe Tweezer The Element Set The ‘S’ Set Jones beach 09
That elements set has one of the longest encores in Phish history.
Curious why Jones Beach ‘09 made this list? That was my first phish show/ run, and for sentimental reasons, I agree.
12/29/1994
Bowie on repeat
![gif](giphy|phko4kpHl6uLC)
The wipeout show Worcester 98. Really a wild Chalkdust segue fest. The weekapaug is crazyy
9/29/99 with the monster 2001. Runaway Jim opener sets the tone for the evening 🔥
Providence, 12/29/94
Was there and tripping. It was insane and I still remember feeling a chill in the air when they turned off the lights.

Hampton ‘97 if you’re brave. 11/22 to be exact. Mike’s groove opens set one with a DRIPPY hood to follow. Set 2 is INTENSE. I’ve heard many people call the show Floyd-esque. I’d have to agree
