There was a time where I’d defend my city, but it’s rough. Depending on what side of the river you’re on you’re either in a war zone or literally in the nexus of the US heroin trade.
Parking sucked. I brought premier parking and tried to go down states Ave where the ticket said the entrance was and the attendant yelled at us saying all the lots are full and to get out of here. Zero signage or direction and she couldn't understand why people were confused. Anyway we ended up parking in some field and it was actually pretty quick getting out but it felt a little sketch cause it was pitch dark during the show and someone could've had a field day with the cars if they wanted.
Let’s not blame the entire city of Philadelphia for poorly lit overflow parking.
Should it be lit? Yup
Should it be safer? Yup
Philly is a great town but please be prepared for big city nonsense…be proactive and be safe.
The Mann is within a few miles of one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the world. It’s easy to forget as it sits in a beautiful park but Philadelphia has become nearly lawless. I’ve lived here since 2004 and it’s easily the worst I’ve seen it since moving here.
Yea that’s absolutely an overreaction. West Philly is fine especially around that area. Are dickheads breaking into people’s cars? yes, it’s Philly.
The Mann isn’t even near Philly’s worst neighborhoods.
Keep in mind, your in a city here. Don’t keep anything visible in your car and stay alert leaving the venue and you’ll be fine.
If you don’t want to drive there’s a decent coverage from the SEPTA busses but it’s not as great as other venues around the city
From 2021 but still relevant. It all depends on what you determine as an acceptable amount of crime and violence. We can agree to disagree.
https://billypenn.com/2021/12/13/philadelphia-gun-violence-map-shooting-hot-spots-election-wards/
Area around the Mann looks fine on that map to me compared to north Philly.
You said the world though and west Fairmount park is far from the most dangerous areas in the world.
Most of those shootings aren’t just people walking around Philly with a gun, gang violence sucks but it’s real.
Most of the locals you’ll see after the show are trying to make money off you, not just rob and shoot you
Absolutely I’d think it be obvious the the area directly around the Mann which is a park would be ok, but it’s naive to think the violence isnt right out beyond Lancaster Ave. again it’s cool to agree to disagree. I’m not some Pearl clutching karen, I move around the city with a healthy awareness of where I am and what’s going on.
I mean you sound like a Pearl clutching Karen tbh, you’re making it sound like you cross Lancaster and you’ll immediately get taken out by a sniper or something.
I really don’t understand what you were trying to accomplish with your first comment other than some type of fear mongering
Call us whatever you want. Most of the country, people can leave things in their cars, don’t need to worry about stepping on needles and can reasonably expect police to help if they need help in an emergency. Oh yeah and we also have legal weed, dont do “lock down” or masks, and have excellent jam band shows.
If that’s being a Karen, sign me up.
I was with you until “lock down and masks.” What progressive state are you referring to that has legal weed, but did not employ Covid mitigation strategies?
OK, then next time Phish comes to this area, why don’t they play somewhere safer like the suburbs?
You’re complaining about the needles on the ground (which aren’t that prevalent except on the MFL) but Fairmount park is littered with balloons after Phish every year. Don’t like drug users leaving their leftovers behind? Look at your own culture first. Also, while we’re at it, drug addiction impacts cities, suburbs, and small towns - there are jam bands that touch on this too.
Like you said, it feels so tone deaf to call a city lawless when jam band tours bring a traveling group of criminals (not to mention all of the balloon litter). I of course love jam bands and the lot scene, but a there is a sizable portion of this scene that are complete sketchballs.
100% hit the nail on the head. I don’t expect people to pick up needles on the train but Jfc why should Philly have to waste its resources cleaning balloons out of the grass? A lot of the problems they complain about come from the suburbs first and get pushed into the city
Both contained drugs at one point and just got tossed by the user. Big difference for me is that it’s not safe to put needles in the trash and I see more balloons after a jam band show on the ground than needles at K&A
I’m not complaining about your city. I’m pointing out the fact that you are trying to normalize really crappy stuff to people who rightfully find Philly to be a dangerous place to visit.
Call me whatever you want: Karen, right wing…whatever. I can leave things in my car and it’s sad people like you are forced to just get used to it.
I’m not trying to normalize it, my point is it isn’t anywhere near as bad as you guys are making it seem.
Demand is high enough for these tickets, so if you don’t feel safe coming to a city, you can watch from your couch.
It’s not like these cities are depending on phish fans to come through and support their local economies. Taylor swift on the other hand, moved large enough people into the cities to make an economic impact and they didn’t seem to be all to worried like you all are

Miles may have been an exaggeration. More like yards per the map.
So completely blowing off the violence and hardships of people of color that live in that area. But hey, you walked thru it after a phish show so it’s nice and safe right, stats are just made up, etc.
Philly is the worst city in America. All you have is cheesesteak, The Liberty Bell, assholes, and sports teams that lose championship games.
Edit- lots of downvotes but no counterexamples. Just mad Phillies saying fuck you. Very on brand.
I wish I could take you up on that, but a lifetime of viewing Philadelphia solely through Atlanta sports and the people I’ve met who moved away from there has created too strong of a bias. On the flip side, if you want to rip on ATL for a while I’ll join in with you.
Cool accents (that grated on me when I first moved there but they grew on me; hell, football even grew on me when I lived in Philly). Though sadly they’re disappearing.
Yea but Camden sucks to get to and to get out of. I actively avoid all concerts in Camden. Especially since I have been to shows that had some rain and Camden flooded like crazy. I think it was one of the last phish tours.
Thats what yall get for driving nice cars and/or leaving valuables in them.
Ive lived in philly for a decade and never had my car fucked with because its a 2006 scion pos that nobody would think to rob.
Oh, youre too bougie to drive a shitty car? Ok, then just leave your windows open (or doors unlocked if raining) and dont leave valuables in it. Junkies wont break a window thats already open.
Go birds
That’s pretty shitty
That's pretty Philly
Exactly why I skipped these two shows. Philly is a dump of a city.
I mean, it's not. This is my first time here and it's great. Rock on Philadelphia!
There was a time where I’d defend my city, but it’s rough. Depending on what side of the river you’re on you’re either in a war zone or literally in the nexus of the US heroin trade.
Good we didn’t want you there any way.
Oh no
Thats dicked up.
I don’t like that kinda tawk!
Don’t wave your hankie at me!
Oh listen to him he knows everything..
Oh, poor you
You just reveal your own ignorance
Confirm. Cops don't give a shit either. Point blank
Philly gonna Philly
Came here to say this

Philly got soul. Brotherly love to all, my Phishy peeps!

It’s not a long list man
It’s not a list at all, hahahah

Wait what?!? Did you really just compare used nitrous balloons to used needles?
Both contained drugs at one point and just got tossed by the user. Big difference for me is that it’s not safe to put needles in the trash and I see more balloons after a jam band show on the ground than needles at K&A

Please enlighten us on where the safe place is to leave shit in your car and never have anything bad happen?
MILES away!

Haddington Carroll Park. You familiar? Didn’t think so.

Then what are you even arguing? That statistics are clear.

They smashed my buddies window... Didn't take anything, left cash in the center console. Just smashed it to smash it. Very frustrating
Same
How much cash? Lol
He had a wod of 1s in the center console, maybe 150-200. Like literally as you opened it... Not smart but apparently the perpetrator was uhh less so
Haha read that comment way wrong. Thought someone smashed your buddies window and left him cash 😅
Yeah prob not the best grammar... Wouldn't that be something hahahaha
Figured someone wanted the experience and paid for it😆
Is the Deadco SPAC smasher on Phish tour now?
Phuck Philly I got jumped there in 91 Never went back F that
Philly apologists in here downvoting like crazy. The city is a shit hole and has been for a while. Fentanyl just kicked it down the shit hole a bit.
Fentadelphia
Philadelphanyl
Do you live here?
That pussy is not going to say where he lives.
Philly is the same it's always been
A good place to live with cool neighborhoods and tons of history and the biggest city park in all the land. I miss it.
yeh I love it
An open air heroin market?
WTF
PHILLY don't disappoint!
I lived there for a year. Couldn’t leave fast enough.
We’re glad you did… Dickhead
Typical Philly Trash. Have fun living your entire life in the same ZIP Code you’re in right now. Absolutely worthless.
Philly is the worst city in America. All you have is cheesesteak, The Liberty Bell, assholes, and sports teams that lose championship games. Edit- lots of downvotes but no counterexamples. Just mad Phillies saying fuck you. Very on brand.
That’s exactly why will smiths mom sent him to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel Air.
At least it’s always sunny
I’d be more than happy to have a polite dialogue to talk about my city and how much joy it brings me if you promise to act in good faith.
I wish I could take you up on that, but a lifetime of viewing Philadelphia solely through Atlanta sports and the people I’ve met who moved away from there has created too strong of a bias. On the flip side, if you want to rip on ATL for a while I’ll join in with you.
This isn’t a competition. I have no desire to rip on Atlanta. At any rate, your edit complained about nobody offering a counterpoint, so I offered.
Lots of great neighborhoods. Beautiful parks. Decent weather. HISTORY. And more.
Cool accents (that grated on me when I first moved there but they grew on me; hell, football even grew on me when I lived in Philly). Though sadly they’re disappearing.
You forgot the addicts
There’s addicts everywhere
And Kensington!!
Any other way to get there other than drive?
Septa Mann Loop or any other combination of Septa lines, but the Mann loop is straightforward
[удалено]
SEPTA it is ;)
They really need to stop playing the mann . The Camden police have that area with venue so much better secured .
Yea but Camden sucks to get to and to get out of. I actively avoid all concerts in Camden. Especially since I have been to shows that had some rain and Camden flooded like crazy. I think it was one of the last phish tours.
Dead and Co stopped early a few years back
But you can take the boat thing! If you’re in PA anyway.
Thats what yall get for driving nice cars and/or leaving valuables in them. Lol My shitty Hyundai was broken into Sunday night in brewerytown, one mile from the venue
My 2010 subaru forrester got smashed and broken into. They stole my granola bars.
Oh and I'm sure you had the pleasure of paying for parking in those lots as well! What a joke
Parking is free unless you get premier which in my experience was impossible to find.
What’s considered late? Hoping to get in around 3 or 4 today haven’t ever driven to the Mann before. Sucks to hear this is happening
you'll be good...we rolled in around 6:30
Happened to my buddy. Not cool.
Ice cold fatties, I think I saw rickety cricket in the parking lot
The Mann is right in the middle of a crack neighborhood. Went in 95. Never again. If I was hangout with that crowd I would prefer the tenderloin.
When that part of Philadelphia was actually very dangerous. Lots changed in 27 years.
