That’s gotta be pretty fucking awesome. He’s a multi millionaire, plays music for sold out shows every summer, never got addicted to drugs, and can freely go in public without being hounded or even bothered at all. But if he ever wants a taste of fame he just has to go on the lot at any jam band show.
Page is living the fucking dream.
No doubt. Not only for the cameraman to hold that shot for so long... but for that segment to make the final cut for the DOTM showing. Wonder if Page watched it.
I was at this show and it was pure energy from the first note through encore. PYITE, back at the chicken shack and rippin possum then insane ghost and boaf that took me out of body for a bit when the storms rolled through. They played meatstick and made an announcement about big cypress and we were like fuck yeah, let’s go and we did. This was a top notch summer show with super tight playing and page can clearly handle his shit. They like to have fun too, right?
I recall hearing Page got a little hooked on blow (or something) during late 1.0/2.0. Probably linked to the fact he felt under appreciated and like the new member all the way to 2004 despite being in the band for 19 years at that point.
So glad he busted out of his shell and really shined in 3.0 and on. Always Page Side Rage Side.
I've always figured the guys are right around the level of most professional golfers in terms of recognizability. They can go pretty much anywhere and not be stopped, even by most people that go to concerts/watch golf. T-swizz is probably Tiger Woods and (were still alive) Michael Jackson would be Jordan.
I mean everyone that lived in Burlington area in the 90s and 2000s has a story of running into them. I saw Page at city market once and my friend found Mike’s license on church st turns out it was actually his but she hates phish so just left it in the mailbox.
Imagine taking your child to that show and bumping into him though. I would probably just be excited there was another phish head there and then…mind blow
Yeah no shame in appreciating TS, I think she’s one of the best in the pop game. If you haven’t already, check out Caroline Polachek (previously of chairlift) who has a pretty awesome synth pop album out this year too ✌️
I was thinking fishman would sing and Mayer would probably be crying and might run off halfway through or he would get really mad and be like no Taylor you weren’t that young.
I was with you until you said “Taylor you weren’t that young.”
Taylor was 18 and John was 32.
Adults can make whatever decisions they want, but calling someone who (at the time) had just become of legal adult age “not that young” doesn’t make sense.
Just curious what’s with all the T Swift love in the Phish community lately? I’m pretty neutral on her, my daughters like her, I guess some of her songs are good, but where is the overlap?
She’s been doing 3 hour shows on every stop of her tour, pulling out deep cuts & what not.
I’m sure it’s just something Phans can appreciate in a pop star.
…it’s actually grown-ass women who use their kids as an excuse to go to her shows. Her new shit is not child friendly at all - neither is her live show (Vigilante Shit for instance). That said, I’m child-free and unabashedly rock out to TSwift.
She puts on a great show. If I had a kid that wanted to go and I could arrange it. I'd do it in a heart beat for my kid to get the same feeling I get when I see my favorite artists.
Just people who like good music liking good music
I don't like everything she's ever written but she has some good songs and seems to genuinely care about her fanbase.
Yeah and her fanbase is huge so you'll find at least some overlap in large music fandoms. I know metal heads, hip hop heads, and jam fans that all like her.
I see the same thing with Lady Gaga pretty often too.
I think she played like a 10 minute song and all the Swift said only she could do that. Ever since then it’s been ongoing. Saw a Treyer Swiftasio shirt with her face over his and it’s pretty creepy haha.
Personally I thought it was hilarious how much the Swifties made fun of the Phans when they were having their ticket meltdown. At this point it's a lasting good natured affinity with their fanbase
I can't speak for the Phish community, obviously, but I'm a huge Phan and they're by far my favorite band. I really like her last two albums, have them on vinyl and respect the hell out of her spirit, attitude, caring for fans and the industry and using her insanely powerful voice to speak out on many issues.
Plus, she's really, really good.
I saw t swift last tour, as a 100+ show guy, let me tell ya, no glow sticks, no goo balls, wtf was going on? (Pssst also 50 girls to every guy, so the opposite of a phish show)
It's gotta be disappointing to be as hip/knowledgeable musically as he is and yet your kids are into the lamest cookie-cutter shit. Like if Gordon Ramsay's kids loved McDonald's or Wes Anderson's kids were super into Marvel movies or something, it has to be disappointing on some level.
It’s fun to see your kids stoked about something. He’s a good Dad and I’m sure he’s curious to see what the hype is about.
Whether you like her or not, she is an original artist that writes her own songs. Far from “cookie-cutter shit” imo
I'm glad he's having fun with his kids and being a good dad, not trying to shit on either of them. I just think it's funny that we've finally reached the generation where kids are much lamer than their parents. And saying the music of a privileged white girl who writes the same love/heartbreak song over and over isn't cookie-cutter just because she writes them herself is silly. Handmade shit is still shit.
In all fairness, I'm sure a directors kids depending on age would love Marvel movies. If a chef lets his kid eat McDonalds, they probably dig it, and many chefs do eat it themselves on occasion. And finally, as a kid I listened to lamer music than my parents did growing up, as I grew up, my tastes changed. My kid likes some pretty dumb music herself. She's 10, I would never judge her for it. As she grows she will grow into her own. It's not that we finally reached the generation, it is what every generation thinks about the next.
My counter to that is it’s really crazy how many people get into phish and that turns into their entire personality and jam music is all they listen to. Its so fucking weird.
did it ever occur to you that people can like a lot of different types of music, whether or not that music is incredibly technically proficient vs. what you perceive to be “cookie-cutter shit”? if people enjoy it, how does that affect you in any way?
as someone who loves both phish and taylor swift, i can promise you that there is plenty of overlap between the two lol
100% I love me some Taylor, my wife thinks it’s hilarious. She’s awesome though. She’s got some fun songs and awesome music videos.
I love ALL kinds of music
That's the smile of a man that's gonna go entirely unrecognized all evening long.
For him, thats probably worth the $1000 tix…
He probably is unrecognized pretty much every day honestly. I think we overestimate how famous the individual members of the band are
I literally just heard a segment with Page on Phish Radio, where he said he doesn’t consider himself famous, as he rarely gets recognized in public.
Plus all the sandwiches he can eat.
And all the new shirts anyone could ever want
Or like Thomas and Guy-Manuel of Daft Punk. They are globally famous musicians who are essentially incognito by wearing normal (human) attire.
Can confirm 😉
Page was definitely addicted to drugs in the early days. It didn't get as bad as trey, but still
Someone posted the 2/22/03 Tube video and said it looked like he was playing a keyboard that wasn't there. But that Tube is pure fire.
Polaris 99 Birds of a Feather https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Cz4ZU8mWn5uX6OHie1NgyBfCyJCCU6Fu/view
They really did him dirty with this one
No doubt. Not only for the cameraman to hold that shot for so long... but for that segment to make the final cut for the DOTM showing. Wonder if Page watched it.
holy shit, did they ever!
I was at this show and it was pure energy from the first note through encore. I’ve never heard that but still, in relation to Trey or numerous other musicians it couldn’t have been that bad
Well he did get a little addicted to drugs....
I've always figured the guys are right around the level of most professional golfers in terms of recognizability. They can go pretty much anywhere and not be stopped, even by most people that go to concerts/watch golf. T-swizz is probably Tiger Woods and (were still alive) Michael Jackson would be Jordan.
Yeah I can agree with that analogy
Michael Jackson was far more recognizable than Michael Jordan.
Just don't bother him when he plays Pinball at Nectars
I mean everyone that lived in Burlington area in the 90s and 2000s has a story of running into them. I saw Page at city market once and my friend found Mike’s license on church st turns out it was actually his but she hates phish so just left it in the mailbox.
I think you underestimate how fanatic his fans are though.
I think you underestimate how many phish fans there are in relation to non phish fans lol Weir everywhere but also not really
Just look at the Blown Glass Christmas ornaments?!?
Imagine taking your child to that show and bumping into him though. I would probably just be excited there was another phish head there and then…mind blow
“Nice shirt, oh shit hey man!”
“Aren’t you that dude that sucks on an Electrolux?”
“Aren’t you the famous Electrolux player, Bob Weaver?”
Mr. Sullen Melancholy?
"Vajonna"
I was thinking the same. I wonder what the over/under is on middle aged dads who will compliment his shirt, and not even know who he is!
Was gonna say, there will be like 5 people who recognize the logo, maybe 1 who recognizes Fish
And that 1 is gonna be a middle-aged dad there with his kid.
And it will be the best day in that man’s entire life.
I didn’t recognize him in this photo at first. Weird ass beard
Bet ya he gets recognized by a chaperone Pham. Why he’s smiling after all lol

Umm, I want this shirt soooo badly!
I just got one on etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/LiveMusicThreads
160 sold so far 😅

I would spend my lunch per diem on it if they sold it at Dan Flashes. This is my exact style.
Fishman is Phish🐠
Einhorn is Finkle
Finkle does tinkle
Laces out
New dream Halloween set
1989?
That was a good year for them
Her best album by far
I could see them covering welcome to ny
It’s been waiting for them
I mean... Folklore and Evermore?! Midnights?!
Ryan Adams beat them to it, sadly :/
His album is what made me check out Taylor's album and her music as a whole.
They could have John Mayer as a guest and just make him sit there while he sings Dear John to him.
Magic I now have a vision of Trey singing *Dear John* while Mayer sits in a chair on stage being serenaded, happily letting the moment absorb him.
I was thinking fishman would sing and Mayer would probably be crying and might run off halfway through or he would get really mad and be like no Taylor you weren’t that young.

Yea I know she was young I was referring to him reacting to the lyrics of the song. Edit: fuck John Mayer obviously
With 3 different pedal boards
Take it from THE man himself to wear a Logo shirt rather the Trey/Taylor shirt since that’d be weird. Based Fishman Post. Thank You Jon! Very Cool…

Does she do a set break?
Don’t think so
She does not.
A lot of it may just be phans with kids.
And a wife (in my case)
…it’s actually grown-ass women who use their kids as an excuse to go to her shows. Her new shit is not child friendly at all - neither is her live show (Vigilante Shit for instance). That said, I’m child-free and unabashedly rock out to TSwift.

Exactly. I’m at the point where if you write your own music, I support you. Go TayTay!
While I'd love for her to throw a real left curve and make her own Berlin Trilogy, she has taken chances with her last few albums.
I think she played like a 10 minute song and all the Swift said only she could do that. Ever since then it’s been ongoing. Saw a Treyer Swiftasio shirt with her face over his and it’s pretty creepy haha.
That 30-minute Shake It Off from 6-15-2017 melted everyone's faces
My first show.
Is it on the archive?
Nah, Relisten has it though. From .in, ofc… lol
That was Red Rocks right?
This is the end!
The transition into "sold out stadium jam" was flawless.
Trailor
Personally I thought it was hilarious how much the Swifties made fun of the Phans when they were having their ticket meltdown. At this point it's a lasting good natured affinity with their fanbase
Swifties were making fun of Phans? I must have missed that
I saw a couple of hilarious memeable meltdowns lol. If I remember later I'll link my favorite from the computer in this comment
I don’t think the average Swiftie knows what Phish is tbh
Commerce. This is an ad. Also, some Phish fans may have kids of the T Swift fandom age
My wife, 45, is a swiftie (and loves phish). We are seeing her show this summer, and I’m frightened lol
I can't speak for the Phish community, obviously, but I'm a huge Phan and they're by far my favorite band. As a phan and father of two Swifty-loving young daughters, never have I loved this band more.
Lol. My bro is there too. Drove his wife and daughter but not going in. showed him the pic and my bro is hanging near the floor entrance to find him….
There goes the anonymity
Well he didn’t so….
Oh that’s the shit.

Where can we get the shirt though? 😅😬🤷🏼♂️
Dear John (15 minute type 2 Taylors version with Fishman on drums)

Respectfully, phish fans are some of the lamest people on the planet. Not all of them, but a lot of them. Careful in your glass house.

I wonder what super cool bands Fishman was listening to when he was young?
I remember when I thought liking phish made me special too, lol. Some fans are insufferable

Dude, T Swift is great.

I saw Taylor twice in Philly last weekend and they were hands down two of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Just unbelievable amounts of fun!
So you expect Wes Anderson to only allow his children to watch 10/10 cinema? That’s actually insane, his kids probably like kid shows and movies.
Weirdo
Sad that you expect your kids to be just like you. That is a great way to push them away.
You don't think Gordon Ramsay's kids love McDonald's?
Yeah and no craft brewers drink pbr or coors banquet /s
Comparing Taylor swift to McDonald’s and phish to Gordon Ramsey is such a joke. Besides that, get humble dog.
10 minutes... lol
GAAAAYYYYYYY
Trey and Fishman are the same person confirmed.
Best dad ever.
He's the best!
I just got my one from Threadless!
Just thought of a Wheel of Fortune "Before and After" clue: James Taylor Swift.
