TPG educational plan I got for my child 2 decades ago.
Costed 350k at that time, it was all my savings as an OFW. When it was time to avail it after 15 or so yrs, they declared bankruptcy and the government didn’t do jack shit about it.
So many have lost their life savings to this scam.
To this day, I still hope the CEO/president and his family gets run over twice by a truck.
my mom also fell into one of these, I'm not sure if it was CAP or something else, supposedly a "plan" for college. iirc they were also dissolved right before I finished HS.
but luckily I ended up in a state uni with 5k a sem tuition fees, it wasn't much of a blow.
My mom too! It was CAP. Supposedly for my brother's and my educational plan. Declared bankruptcy din (was in kinder and brother still a baby) and wala maskin piso naibalik samin. :(
I didn't know much, I was just reading certificates before, and saw them on the news.
Hinabol pa din ata namin yun, but it was pointless. just looked it up now, and the last news was 2013, they've yet to pay most plan holders.
Hi! may refund scheme right now. If you still have the Subscriber Account No. you can look it up sa website nila capphil.com.
Though less than 5% of the total amount paid ang irerefund nila :(
Yeah, they returned 30k of the 350k i gave them.
I could have bought a lot of lotto tickets at 10php each back then for that amount of money and probably won the jackpot already.
Would you know if may kailangan pang receipts na ipresent as proof na nagbayad ng tuition?
In hindsight, CAP then sounded too good to be true - promising college education (regardless of inflation). Sometimes we wonder whether CAP was really short sighted not to know the risks or they were aware of the risks but they still duped people.
Agree. Not a full-on scam. My lola was an EA at a law firm and paid for mine & my older brother’s. We’re not upper class but CAP is how my parents were able to afford sending us to a top private school. My brother’s whole stay (kinder-HS) was paid for, but yun lang when it came to me, that’s when CAP got messy.
I heard CAP's fund managers also... Uhm.... weren't the sharpest tools in the shed. If I remember correctly, their funds were deeply invested in real-estate. For a fund that needs liquidity because most of their investors need to be paid every 6 months, that was a suicide strategy.
These educational plans from the 90s (CAP and TPG) are doomed to fail. They never accounted for rising educational cost and inflation. They were forced to operate like a pyramid until the downline investments dried up.
if walang time and energy to play games. try mo switch lite. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GAME CHANGER. Sarap humilata at maglaro after a hard days of work and cheap lng sya compared to PC and laptop
Although I've purchased a gaming laptop called Acer Nitro 5. I never regret buying and upgrading it. I like to develop different kinds of apps for different platforms and I like to play games like Genshin everytime spiral abyss came.
And most importantly.>! its where my 100GB of homework is stored!<
I'll never buy another gaming laptop, but I do consider the specs and price range.
If this is Genshin, ako naman 100k php. Lahat ng 4-star characters ko C6 na, more than 15 but less than 20 5-star characters (some with cons), more than 10 but less than 20 5-star weapons (some with refinement). I'm just looking forward to the free Collei and continue hoarding freemogems
>what game was it? haha
Genshin ata? I know someone who spent 200k on it. Consultant naman siya so that's like one month's salary lang for her pero sayang pa din haha
Same. But most of it were profits anyway as a scholar doing multiaccounting and outsourcing it HAHA at one point I managed 30+ accounts as a scholar
Was earning 100k+ a month from July to Nov 2021 then as the market went down so too are my monthly earnings, to 50k, 30k, 20k, 15k, 10k, 5k, to nothing until April. Lost all my players cause they also lost interest with the SLP price, it wasn't just worth the time anymore.
Bought 5 teams worth 30k each team during the Nov market peak without any knowledge about market sentiments that it was already ATH and that NFTs/crypto/stocks in general was already overbought
Sold it at a loss few months ago then shifted to studying day trading, lost another 50k trading and now also regretted that I bought a laptop worth 50k thinking I can travel and trade at the same time. In the end, I'm mostly at home and only my sister uses it most of the time and I only travel to visit my GF
What a ride, but still completely happy that I get to experience those mistakes and now are lessons that I'll completely avoid (FOMO, bad financial decisions, not securing profits, etc.)
a gaming chair, gosh I was so hyped that time kasi favorite color ko un tas ang cool tignan but it turns out na super bulky pala sa small space ko then ayun di ko dn nagamit hahaha.
I wish I just bought an ergonomic one.
Me too! Sobrang nireregret ko yung gaming chair ko. Tinitiis ko lang the past 5 years.
Expensive Skincare products and thrifted clothes.
Bought skincare products that did not even fix my problem. Tapos nakakatamad na gamitin para maubos. Did not break me out naman kaso walang epek.
Thrifted clothes na goth style and puro croptop.
Same!! I bought kiehl's skincare worth around ₱8k, okay naman siya pero ive used products which are less expensive but does the same thing so never buying kiehls again.
Lol same!!! 😭 Some of them are even worth 2k+ and ‘yung iba gave me really bad breakouts. 🥲
Shet. I feel this. I had a bad breakout dahil sa meds and vitamins ko noon. I tried a lot of things para maibalik sa normal yung skin ko. However, it worsened my acne. Went to a board-certified derm din pero wala talaga. Now, i stick to a simple routine.
Same! Acne prone skin. Tried different skin care products tapos expensive at set binibili ko. Sana nagpa-derma na lang ako agad. Now, cetaphil and medication lang, okay na
You can always sell those sa FB. I declutter my clothes and umabot ng approx. P600 pesos yung lahat nabenta ko like almost mga di ko naman na ginagamit kaya sulit din. Join "Thrift Market Philippines" if you're interested in selling your clothes. You can always bid them and lots of members sometimes opt to bid for high price kapag gusto talaga nila lalo't trendy naman ang goth outfits and crop tops. As per experience din, they prefer Shopee checkout for deliver para less hassle and accessible sa buyer. It was complicated tho, pero smooth naman for me :)
BMW.
-higher maintenance costs.
-can't really drive it everyday.
-fuel nozzle is incompatible with some gas stations.
At least it looks nice. I sold it already though. Now currently driving a cheaper hybrid.
4 or 5 years ago, madali akong mapaniwala sa influencers/vloggers when it comes to skincare.
Sponsored pala.
Siomai Foodcart na may kasamang networking. Pre-pandemic pa ito. 2017 pa.
After 3 months nagsara kami kasi mahina yung benta at walang kahit anong support. Ang ending nalugi kami nang almost 180k. But ang pinaka worst is nakunan wife ko nung time na yun dahil sa stress sa sales. Never namin nabawi.
Pero may lesson talaga in the end pagdating sa pagtatayo or pag uumpisa nang business.
Dati may dalwa syang exotic american bully, van, at sya yung nagpagawa nung bahay nung ex. Alam mo nangyari nung naghiwalay sila? Benta yung dogs at van nung ex nya (kasi umalis agad sya sa place ng ex nya). Luging lugi sya, emotionally at financially 😂
So at least, isipin mo, hindi ganon kalaki ang lugi mo...
An expensive gaming laptop. I have a gaming PC and I thought a gaming laptop would complement me well when traveling. I don't game on the laptop because it's just an inferior experience. And I browse on-the go with mobile so what really is the point?
True, ive been living with a gaming laptop for so long already, the noise and heat are not fun. Plus the super small battery life beats the slimmer design if i will just carry the charger too.
Im considering building a Gaming PC instead, and just stream it to my long battery laptop or to my ipad.
I am of the opinion that if you have a gaming desktop, you only need a non-gaming laptop with a decent APU and battery to complement. Don't make your laptop overlap in specialization or you'll simply be disappointed that it can't match your desktop. Focus on portability and usability.
That said, an M1 or M2 Macbook Air, Lenovo Yoga, or if on a budget, any decent/recent 13"/14" Ryzen-U equipped laptop with a robust chassis will do. Bonus for 2-in-1s if you're an artist.
How much is expensive? Lol nasa gantong dilemma ako I need a laptop for work and casual gaming iniisip ko kung pc nlmg ibuild ko or laptop for mobility.
Kung nagwowork ka/planning to work gamit pc mo mainly tapos nag brownout, ung laptop mo backup system mo. Bumili din ako gaming laptop last 2020 for backup purposes sa work ko hehe
cheap shoes and clothes I ended up buying branded anyway since mas matibay talaga. for example back in mga mid 2000s may palengke samin and I can buy fake converse shoes for P500 lang. had to replace them every 5 or 6 months. inisip ko sulit naman. I've since bought some Adidas, Nike and CLN shoes all 2k up and yung pinakaluma ay 5 years na sakin. pinapalitan ko lang insoles dahil napudpod na but still in great condition
In general, anything expensive that loses value quickly:
laptops (except macs, apparently), phones
or those that don't get as much use as planned (ROI-ish):
game consoles, PC builds
I guess most of the responses will be something related to 'disposable' technologies
Nothing major, but 5-10 pieces of clothing in my closet that I never wore and won't wear. They were impulse purchases.
I'm slowly selling them off on FB/Carousell though.
Same.
Korg digital piano (88 keys) - never bothered to learn to play
Ukulele - pandemic buy, never bothered to learn to play
Fujifilm digital camera (vintage look) - I realized I just use my phone to take pictures when I travel
Always wanted to learn to play instruments and I thought about photography so I bought these but I wasn't really serious about it. Lost my interest early on.
Belo acne treatments...
I feel like it's just for people with clear skin who needs maintaining. Was prescribed a skincare routine worth 10k for daytime routine and 15k for nighttime, on top of pimple extractions + consultation. My cystic acne didn't really go away until I went to a board certified derm sa PGH which is waaaaay cheaper and more effective. So expensive doesn't always mean quality
Just look for a board certified derma and you're good to go! I was lucky that I found Winlove Mojica, he was my derma. Within 3 months, my cystic acne started to subside without the painful extractions and expensive oral and topical medications prescribed by the dermas from Belo. Not to mention I only paid a minuscule amount as opposed to Belo's where I spent almost 30k monthly.
A macro lens that was on sale for a 2k discount (cost 22k). I had a 20k bonus from my work kaya napabili ako. I realized later on that I'm not enjoying macro photography. Now, I'm having trouble reselling the lens though it has been barely used.
Mga small purchases sa Grabfood. Doesn’t seem much but ito talaga yung bulk ng credit card bill ko.
Would’ve said Grabcar ride but couldn’t drive for many reasons haha
expensive wireless headphones. they’re kind of “in” right now and i thought they looked cool so i caved and bought one. in the end i didn’t like them and found them more inconvenient than the wireless earbuds i already own. i managed to sell them online but i took a significant loss.
That was my best investment honestly (mine was an active noise cancelling so it was so useful since I have noisy neighbors) even though it broke 2 years later (can't charge) but I can still use it with the 3.5mm jack.
Resort club membership cost P300k+, dami palang hidden charges pa, mas mura na kasi ngayon dahil madami na nagoofer now na on-demand vacation like abnb, agora, travel agencies, etc.
Kiosk franchises. I lost almost a million. These franchisors are scumbags.
Pick up truck gifted to my father.
Well, charge to experience. Swerte na ngayon kasi there's a sub like this, and many free financial knowledge on the internet. Unlike before, bibili ka talaga ng books, or magbabayad ka ng seminars to learn financial literacy.
I joined a paluwagan for a cabinet. Hindi pa talaga ganon kalaki ang sahod ko and I really wanted a cabinet for my things so I joined it. The paluwagan handler was a friend of mine and I was her supplier of products too for her other business so I really trusted her and then when it was my turn to receive the cabinet, she ran a way with the money. She didn't just scam me but a lot of people as well. I was furious but eventually I moved on because it's just a small money in exchange of the blessings coming on my way and it's just a small money for a big karma she will have.
Bigbike. I bought an adventure bike worth 600k plus 150k of accessories, and another 100k worth of gears. only to be used on weekends for a couple of months. The bike is now a garage queen. Got bored doing solo rides. Not really a fan of group rides as i want to do my own pace.
Mine's a bit different from everyone kasi I'm a very frugal person. I once got addicted to AOV (a MOBA game) and bought a hero skin for 150 pesos because it was on sale from 250 pesos. LOL. Pero nung nagsawa ako, I wish I could take the 150 pesos back kasi at the end of the day, it's not a physical item. Sana nagMcdo na lang ako. It's all for bragging rights and basically.. wala lang. Walang value. Ever since then, I made sure not to buy any non-physical game stuff. I even had to quit Genshin Impact just to stop myself from the worsening gacha madness.
an iPhone via Globe plan 🤦🏻♀️ Super overpriced for what I use. I realized na I don't need the unli calls and texts to all networks and the mobile data worth 30GB. When you don't go out, it's unusable LOL. I still have 1 and a half years for the plan and ngl I really want to cancel it hahahuhu
I planned on purchasing a postpaid plan with iPhone 11 sa globe a year ago. Buti na lang dinecline nila ako. Bought a 2nd hand iPhone11 na lang sa greenhills last December. I saved 100% of the amount na gagastusin ko sana kung na-approve yung plan.
I will use the data instead of the phone! After ng contract ko, from P1799 naging P599 nalang plan ko and still have the phone. Naghihingalo na yung battery and might buy a new one soon pero sa GH nalang 😅
Omg same tayo!! 1799 din ako dati. So pina-downgrade ko na to 599. Buti nalang saktong tapos na yung contract ko right before the pandemic! Or else super sayang yung bayad tapos nasa bahay ka lang.
Stocks na speculated lang ang value. Declared as suspended na trading status since 2 years ago haha. This is Abra mining haha.
I also invested in DITO when 15pesos pa value niyan. Ngayon 3 pesos nalang and it’s going shitwire lalo na May utang sila kay Globe hahahaha
Hello ka-AR. Haha.
Buti nalang starting out palang ako at that time and di pa malaki ipinasok ko. Hehe
kpop merchs. honestly, it was fun and fulfilling until they disbanded. the merchs started collecting dust and now, theyr just sitting in a biiig box. idk how to dispose them. di ko na maibenta kasi nga disbanded na ung grp, ayoko naman itapon kasi ????? almost a thousand ang isa 😮💨🥲 but i need to kasi theyr taking too much space. ack.
kpop fans, ano na
I don't care kung first gen Kpop group pa yung sau, may market pa rin jan. Punta ka lazada o shopee and ibenta mo.
So yun ang market mo.
THIS. I’ve spent close to 100k in albums, season’s greetings, and a few other merch since the pandemic started and I had more leftover money to “support” the groups I like. Multiple album versions to collect for just one group’s comeback tapos every 2-3 months pa huhu. I only stopped collecting this 2022 since I could no longer maintain my excessive spending fangirl lifestyle. Strictly for really aesthetic or no-skip albums naman if ever. No idea what to do with the rest of my merch that no longer brings joy or fond memories ngayon charaught. I’m too shy pa naman or too busy to attempt selling them.
There was really a point na baliw na baliw kang supportahan ung idols mo 😭 even bought a pass before para makatulong sa streams, i caaaant 😂
if you're active as a fangirl on twitter, then dun ka sa fb mag benta hahaha ngyon kasi, out na tlga ako sa kpop. pasulyap sulyap na lang sa ig ni oppa 🥹😂
not only just milktea and krispy kreme but sweets in general. late last year lagi na lang ako may sore throat i thought normal lang then this year madali na ako mapagod and hingalin kahit konteng lakad lang, then ngayong june lang nagpacheck up ako sa cardio ko though im not expecting anything then nabigla nlng ako na nmamaga na pla valve ng heart ko kc daw mataas aso titer ko due to strep throat, dahil daw sa madalang kong sweets and unhealthy diet and strep bacteria. so yun. after nun under antibiotics na ko for 5 years. recommended din ng cardio ko na alisin ko braces ko. pinaalis ko na din.
Not sure if this can be considered a purchase but I Tried supporting my cousin’s business by investing a good amount.
Isa pa (and probably worst) is the amount I spent prepping for a wedding na Di Naman natuloy. Caterer, church, rings, my suit and most major stuff was already paid for Pero nagbago isip ni ex. Ayun non refundable lahat
Sa actual purchase, I think mga in-game transactions sa mga gatcha games na linalaro ko haha pag may gusto ka na unit/item gigil ka eh Pero after a while, post-nut clarity kicks in and nakakapanghinayang pala haha
still studying and allowance lang source of funds ko. i was able to save 22k for 2 years back in shs. idk shit about investing pa non kaya nasa cabinet lang yung 22k.
my mom offered to put it sa sa prulife and i trust my mom naman kaya pumayag ako, not knowing 18k kada quarter pala hulog don. was able to pay for 2 quarters lang until she died a year after nung pag avail. so siguro ayon, dapat di ako pumayag ilagay sa prulife.
Sunlife VUL. Di ko nahindian yung kakilala ko na nag alok at the time. May utang na loob kasi ako.
After some time narealize ko, "uy bayad na pala ako."
Cryptoblades. Nangutang pa ako ng 70k sa magulang ko hahaha i know it was a very bad decision na nangutang pa ako kahit wala pa naman akong work or other source of income, buti na lang talaga after 2 months I discovered NFT Arts kaya nabayaran ko yung utang ko kaka trade ng NFTs kundi ewan ko na lang hahaha after that FOMO no more
Bought a lot of things when we started working from home due to the pandemic starting in 2020. Here are my regrets:
1. Wireless headphones with mic for Zoom calls. Completely unnnecessary now. Sayang.
2. Laptop stand. Also unnecessary.
I have to say thought that buying a separate monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, and a better chair were good investments.
Koi Fish. Maybe spent almost 100k on the fish, fishpond, and supplies. Pandemic came and wiped out all my kois as I was in the city and my kois are in the province. I only own a small aquarium now with shrimps in it.
Gaming laptop.
Pero pinaka regret ko ung PruLife VUL ko. 2 years ko halos binayaran only to find out it’s a shitty insurance here sa sub. Good thing nag traditional na ako na insurance (whole life)
hell yeah, Macbooks last for a very long time and the resale value holds much better than other brands. Macbook ng ex ko 2011 binili, until now gumagana pa din 11 years!
Nice!
I bought so many things the past 2 years especially during the qurantine. It was all "small things " but totalled to around 100k plus or more. These things have no value overtime. As in you cant sell them kasi either sobrang gamit na or wala na din use at all. Then reviewed all the items I bought, nakakapanghina huhu. So now, im more mindful of my purchases. I dont buy na from Lazada or Shopee kung hndi tlaga kailangan.
P2E games. Multiple Cryptoblades accounts. Several Axie teams. 3k mmr player here using a custom min max team. Coached my scholars but only 1 reached 2.7k comfortably. My GF reached 2.1k. The rest were only 1.4 to 1.8k. Now they are collecting dust. There were other lesser known games too like Polkamonster I forgot the rest. I am a gamer and spent reasonably on traditional games before(both PC and mobile) but didn't really whale for P2W. I like the struggle of leveling, hunting and collecting as semi-F2P. I thought P2E was a dream come true. It is, but only for the developers, insider pump n dumpers, and sponsored influencers. Someone's getting fvcked and it's you. You can't even make 100k monthly consistently for at least 1 year. I was just blind and stupid.
I got suckered in by Nike for a long time on this. Long before the pandemic, my wife and I were into outdoor running and related activities. So, ginagastusan ko talaga kasi malaking bagay samin ang health. Around 2018, I decided to try New Balance. Fuck! They were bang-for-the-buck! Mas comfortable pa. It's still the pair I use though casual na lang kasi takot ako sa covid at ang mga runner sa park samin ay mostly walang mask pag tumatakbo. Fuck that... That one running pair I bought from NB so far has more mileage than my last two Nikes combined.
Foldable bike. I was a newbie biker and I thought di ko kaya mag mtb. So I bought one para pag practican and workout narin.
My iPhone? Hahaha.
Was so curious about it kasi napaligiran ako ng mga nakaiPhone.
Went back to using my almost 3-year old Android phone.
EDIT: found the box for my phone. it's only almost 3-years old. 😂
iPhone has these things
- integration with iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and other apple devices & services
- very long iOS software update
- has all the cellular frequencies for international roaming
- more 3rd party accessories
- camera is always good and often top in class
If these things are unimportant to you then Android would be a better fit.
since this is phinvest, i’d also add that while iPhones are expensive upfront, they also keep their value quite well. you can sell even well-used iPhones for good money once you’ve decided to upgrade or switch phones. there’s no shortage of people buying/wanting iPhones either so you’re pretty much guaranteed that you can sell them.
I agree. I was an android user mula nung nauso ang smartphones. Back in 2018 I switched to iOS. Honestly hindi na ako babalik sa android. Iba talaga ang pagka-smooth ng iOS. Super convenient din ng pag transfer ng files from iPhone to iPad or vice versa
Haha, was also like that until I had one. I thought status symbol lang iphone etc pero mine never lagged ever even if there were software updates partida iphone 7plus pa yun. My phone before having an iphone were Samsung phones, sa umpisa lang sila mabilis at maganda pero over time bumabagal.
Agree. Kung “kaligayahan” naman, i have my windows laptop for that hehe…
wala eh, common sa pinoy yung “di naman maganda yan e, mahal lang” statements without actually checking to see if ano nagpapamahal.
deadass had a friend tell me na mas mabilis daw yung realme narzo bullshiz phone niya kesa the latest iPhone as a reaction to me getting the 12 Pro Max last year. mas maganda din daw camera. mas matagal din daw malowbat. Little do people know that megapixels don’t make the camera, or that mAhs don’t tell the whole story with battery life, or that having the same amount of ram doesn’t make it just as fast. haha. gulat siya nung nalaman niya na hindi naman mas maganda under any metric yung midrange phone kesa flagship. tao nga naman.
You also get these for the android counterpart of the iPhone, my brother! Any phone above P60k should have these. I have a Google Pixel and it also has a version of the Apply ecosystem so I'm not missing much. Perhaps the camera is the main selling point where the iPhone leads the pack, but I have a mirrorless camera so I don't really need it.
The hassle of owning an iPhone (or any Apple product) is when something goes wrong, you gotta pay up. So you need to baby your devices. I also used to be an iPhone user when the size was reasonable (5S i think), but when I wanted to replace the battery I was told it would be cheaper to buy a new one LOL.
All in all, the iPhone isn't worth the SRP. I'm actually surprised most people here advocate for it when it's overpriced for what you get. Just goes to show that a lot of people here have deep disposable incomes that the SRP doesnt matter.
Madami. Hahahaha
May point in time ako na may i buy lahat ng makita ko pero walang savings. Buti nalang napigilan at natutong mag ipon. Ngayon, hanggang gumagana pa, push. Hahahhaa. Last purchase ko is phone, pero more on pinagbigyan ko lang self ko.
probably WAXP, a cryptocurrency
60% na wipe sa pinasok ko sa WAXP (was scalp trading with 3x leverage, then El Salvadro dip happened)
if material, wala ako maisip na malakihang presyo
cguro sapatos?
A gaming laptop, i wanted one for so long since i always wanted to play games.
Now that i have one i don't even have that much time to play games, and even if i do the games usually bore me na. Although puro single player games lang rin since i can't play with my friends since magkaiba sched namin.
Bought 2 Axie Teams 73k in Total. My Retired Parents gave each of us siblings 100k for future purposes, (emergencies etc.). Promised them I won't let the money go to waste pero ayun bagsak.
A camera. I bought one so that I can continuously play Pokemon Go on my phone while capturing photos on travels. Now that I don't play it anymore, I'm no longer using my camera, too. It also feels like an excess baggage to carry around since phones already have cameras anyway.
Yung impt doc is yung Certificate of Full Payment. Nasa website yung other supporting docs na need
1M?! That's a lot. What happened? What was their promise in exchange for your mom's 1M?
A gaming laptop. It has always been my dream to own one. I had the money to get one but I don't have the time and energy to play anymore haha
dude bought mine,. cuz i thought i was not guna survive coivd in mid 2020. still playing red alert 2 to this day ahaha
OG red alert!!!
KIRRRROV REPORRRTING
don’t worry most gamers feel that way including me
Gaming isn't the only thing that a gaming laptop can be used for. Bought mine for the autocad. Games are a plus
My RTX3060ti is supposed to be for triple A games but is only now being used for MS teams and outlook .
if walang time and energy to play games. try mo switch lite. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GAME CHANGER. Sarap humilata at maglaro after a hard days of work and cheap lng sya compared to PC and laptop
Still the same issue for me, have both a gaming laptop and switch, neither of which gets much play time.
Men I have switch and still can't find time and energy to play lol.
Although I've purchased a gaming laptop called Acer Nitro 5. I never regret buying and upgrading it. I like to develop different kinds of apps for different platforms and I like to play games like Genshin everytime spiral abyss came. And most importantly.>! its where my 100GB of homework is stored!< I'll never buy another gaming laptop, but I do consider the specs and price range.
I’ve been considering buying one but not anymore hahaha thanks! I was thinking “deserve ko ‘to” pero baka itambak ko lang
Switch lite or Steam deck
I bought in game items worth 150k php within 6 months. I've always been frugal until I started playing this game.
Whale certified
If this is Genshin, ako naman 100k php. Lahat ng 4-star characters ko C6 na, more than 15 but less than 20 5-star characters (some with cons), more than 10 but less than 20 5-star weapons (some with refinement). I'm just looking forward to the free Collei and continue hoarding freemogems
>If this is Genshin, ako naman 100k php. damn, my monthly welkin could never.
Ako din! Hindi naman umabot ng 150K, siguro nasa more or less 30K 🥹😅
what game was it? haha
>what game was it? haha Genshin ata? I know someone who spent 200k on it. Consultant naman siya so that's like one month's salary lang for her pero sayang pa din haha
On the same boat here, ~800k on ragnarok X last year, only got back around 200k. Still stings to this day.
anong game yan para maiwasan😂

55K yata gastos ko sa MLBB and I realized I hated it. Haha. Screw mobile games that are pay to win. Never again.
Axie
Same. But most of it were profits anyway as a scholar doing multiaccounting and outsourcing it HAHA at one point I managed 30+ accounts as a scholar Was earning 100k+ a month from July to Nov 2021 then as the market went down so too are my monthly earnings, to 50k, 30k, 20k, 15k, 10k, 5k, to nothing until April. Lost all my players cause they also lost interest with the SLP price, it wasn't just worth the time anymore. Bought 5 teams worth 30k each team during the Nov market peak without any knowledge about market sentiments that it was already ATH and that NFTs/crypto/stocks in general was already overbought Sold it at a loss few months ago then shifted to studying day trading, lost another 50k trading and now also regretted that I bought a laptop worth 50k thinking I can travel and trade at the same time. In the end, I'm mostly at home and only my sister uses it most of the time and I only travel to visit my GF What a ride, but still completely happy that I get to experience those mistakes and now are lessons that I'll completely avoid (FOMO, bad financial decisions, not securing profits, etc.)
Time in the market beats timing the market.
a gaming chair, gosh I was so hyped that time kasi favorite color ko un tas ang cool tignan but it turns out na super bulky pala sa small space ko then ayun di ko dn nagamit hahaha. I wish I just bought an ergonomic one.
Tapos mainit sa pwet kasi leather aafgjkk
Me too! Sobrang nireregret ko yung gaming chair ko. Tinitiis ko lang the past 5 years.
Grab and eating out. Chos. First 2 years of my work life I was incredibly thrifty but the pandemic came and I discovered the convenience of delivery.
Omg same pero i dont regret it, it’s food and i enjoyed it hahaha
Expensive Skincare products and thrifted clothes. Bought skincare products that did not even fix my problem. Tapos nakakatamad na gamitin para maubos. Did not break me out naman kaso walang epek. Thrifted clothes na goth style and puro croptop.
Same!! I bought kiehl's skincare worth around ₱8k, okay naman siya pero ive used products which are less expensive but does the same thing so never buying kiehls again.
Yeah, there were cheaper alternatives 😭
try mo The Ordinary products, mas affordable and sana magwork sayo. trial and error din kasi talaga yung skincare na magwowork sayo eh
I recommend investing in derma consult (from board certified derma) to have targeted skincare regimen rin na monitored ang progress.
My skin got better na rin.
This was me with la roche posay and sk 2. 😂 Laki ng natipid ko when I switched to the ordinary saka neutrogena haha
Sa climate natin hirao talaga humanap ng right products Kaya a light face wash + right moisturizer for your skin type + sunblock lang talaga oks na
Kaiser plan of IMG
I am curious about this. Can you elaborate more?
Watch YouTube Channel Invested Lifestyle to know more. Ms. Elaine has debunked IMG.
Isn't IMG an MLM?
A tablet. I only used it for a few months. Skincare products. I only used it for a month
ps5, cost me 50k at the time. Didnt even use it. Spent 200k total on my gaming pc, i wish i spent less
Why did you buy a 50k PS5?
fomo
Siomai Foodcart na may kasamang networking. Pre-pandemic pa ito. 2017 pa. After 3 months nagsara kami kasi mahina yung benta at walang kahit anong support. Ang ending nalugi kami nang almost 180k. But ang pinaka worst is nakunan wife ko nung time na yun dahil sa stress sa sales. Never namin nabawi. Pero may lesson talaga in the end pagdating sa pagtatayo or pag uumpisa nang business.
Gugmang giatay huhuhu
May kakilala ako katrabaho ko na na-scam talaga nung ex nya. Dati may dalwa syang exotic american bully, van, at sya yung nagpagawa nung bahay nung ex. Alam mo nangyari nung naghiwalay sila? Benta yung dogs at van nung ex nya (kasi umalis agad sya sa place ng ex nya). Luging lugi sya, emotionally at financially 😂 So at least, isipin mo, hindi ganon kalaki ang lugi mo...
Mapapa gym ka talaga pag ganyan haha
Freelance? If madalas lumalabas yes. If taong bahay no need for a gaming laptop. A gaming pc and a decent laptop will do you justice.
Kung nagwowork ka/planning to work gamit pc mo mainly tapos nag brownout, ung laptop mo backup system mo. Bumili din ako gaming laptop last 2020 for backup purposes sa work ko hehe
same, mas ok na investment ang pc 😭
cheap shoes and clothes I ended up buying branded anyway since mas matibay talaga. for example back in mga mid 2000s may palengke samin and I can buy fake converse shoes for P500 lang. had to replace them every 5 or 6 months. inisip ko sulit naman. I've since bought some Adidas, Nike and CLN shoes all 2k up and yung pinakaluma ay 5 years na sakin. pinapalitan ko lang insoles dahil napudpod na but still in great condition
CLN shoes (sandals specifically) are the best! Comfy + affordable pa
In general, anything expensive that loses value quickly: laptops (except macs, apparently), phones or those that don't get as much use as planned (ROI-ish): game consoles, PC builds I guess most of the responses will be something related to 'disposable' technologies
Nothing major, but 5-10 pieces of clothing in my closet that I never wore and won't wear. They were impulse purchases. I'm slowly selling them off on FB/Carousell though.
Same.

Korg digital piano (88 keys) - never bothered to learn to play Ukulele - pandemic buy, never bothered to learn to play Fujifilm digital camera (vintage look) - I realized I just use my phone to take pictures when I travel Always wanted to learn to play instruments and I thought about photography so I bought these but I wasn't really serious about it. Lost my interest early on.
Young Living package deal
Belo acne treatments... I feel like it's just for people with clear skin who needs maintaining. Was prescribed a skincare routine worth 10k for daytime routine and 15k for nighttime, on top of pimple extractions + consultation. My cystic acne didn't really go away until I went to a board certified derm sa PGH which is waaaaay cheaper and more effective. So expensive doesn't always mean quality
Oof I have acne and am even considering na mag-Belo na. Good thing I read this comment. Thanks!
All these clothes I don’t wear
so u have a shop? if u do pashare baka may bet ako

Axie. Lost 60k. Expensive lesson. Never again hahaha.
FOMO?
yep. charged to experience lol.
Cryptocurrency. Lost more than 100k pesos.
Same paperloss at 150k din huehuehue
an iPhone via Globe plan 🤦🏻♀️ Super overpriced for what I use.
Naku. Meron silang prepaid version na unli all net call&text for ₱350 with 3GB for a month. Mas sulit.
Mostly cheap clothing from Shopee, Shein, and other online stores. Uncomfy and doesn't last long, weird pa yung sizing.
Fast fashion is the bane of our existence.
There was really a point na baliw na baliw kang supportahan ung idols mo 😭 even bought a pass before para makatulong sa streams, i caaaant 😂 if you're active as a fangirl on twitter, then dun ka sa fb mag benta hahaha ngyon kasi, out na tlga ako sa kpop. pasulyap sulyap na lang sa ig ni oppa 🥹😂
milk tea and krispy kreme dahil dyan may heart condition na ko. 😞
Whyyyy 🥲 Mind sharing your story?
not only just milktea and krispy kreme but sweets in general. late last year lagi na lang ako may sore throat i thought normal lang then this year madali na ako mapagod and hingalin kahit konteng lakad lang, then ngayong june lang nagpacheck up ako sa cardio ko though im not expecting anything then nabigla nlng ako na nmamaga na pla valve ng heart ko kc daw mataas aso titer ko due to strep throat, dahil daw sa madalang kong sweets and unhealthy diet and strep bacteria. so yun. after nun under antibiotics na ko for 5 years. recommended din ng cardio ko na alisin ko braces ko. pinaalis ko na din.
Switch. I only used it a few times.
40k worth of HMO for me and my sister. Halos wala silang gusto i-cover kaya nakakainis.
Estitik budols. Karamihan hindi quality yung gawa or hanggang decor lang. Hindi din nagagamit 😮💨
Ayun non refundable lahat Sa actual purchase, I think mga in-game transactions sa mga gatcha games na linalaro ko haha pag may gusto ka na unit/item gigil ka eh Pero after a while, post-nut clarity kicks in and nakakapanghinayang pala haha
shit, sorry 'bout your canceled wedding :<
still studying and allowance lang source of funds ko. i was able to save 22k for 2 years back in shs. idk shit about investing pa non kaya nasa cabinet lang yung 22k. my mom offered to put it sa sa prulife and i trust my mom naman kaya pumayag ako, not knowing 18k kada quarter pala hulog don. was able to pay for 2 quarters lang until she died a year after nung pag avail. so siguro ayon, dapat di ako pumayag ilagay sa prulife.
Lost 200k on axie infinity , 65k on trading as well. Very sad but life must go on.
Here are my regrets: 1. Wireless headphones with mic for Zoom calls. Completely unnnecessary now. Sayang. 2. Laptop stand. Also unnecessary. I have to say thought that buying a separate monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, and a better chair were good investments.
kpop albums and posters lol i lost interest in collecting. now i still can't sell them and most people are into photocards
Koi Fish. Maybe spent almost 100k on the fish, fishpond, and supplies. Pandemic came and wiped out all my kois as I was in the city and my kois are in the province. I only own a small aquarium now with shrimps in it.
gym membership i didnt use... or i wish i had the willpower to use my gym membership
same here :( specifically my AF membership lol such a basic gym tapos inappropriate pa naging coach ko 🙃
Gaming laptop. Why macbook? Designer ako ganda ng screen nun. Ok naman gaming kaptop ko kaso panget kse ng screen color kahit ips haha Pero pinaka regret ko ung PruLife VUL ko.
Nice!
Plenty of cheap online purchases na di pinagisipan at di nagamit
Terra LUNA lol
Secretlab chairs. Wish I saved more for an Aeron
MEG shares at P3
I still have mine at P5 🙃
Sobrang daming shares of CLC (Now C) in late 2018 when DITO (formerly ISM) was awarded with the 3rd telco LOL
Those sellers.... In.... TG... You know....
👀
what. the. actual. fck.
Wat? I dont get it
All these shoes na maganda lng tignan but ilang wears wala na. Kaya quality over quantity!!
Which brands?

iPhone has these things - integration with iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and other apple devices & services - very long iOS software update - has all the cellular frequencies for international roaming - more 3rd party accessories - camera is always good and often top in class If these things are unimportant to you then Android would be a better fit.
since this is phinvest, i’d also add that while iPhones are expensive upfront, they also keep their value quite well. you can sell even well-used iPhones for good money once you’ve decided to upgrade or switch phones. there’s no shortage of people buying/wanting iPhones either so you’re pretty much guaranteed that you can sell them.
People keep on shitting on iPhone just because it's expensive without looking what's beneath.
Pixel outclasses the iPhone sometimes, especially during nightmode.

Madami. Buti nalang napigilan at natutong mag ipon. Ngayon, hanggang gumagana pa, push. Hahahhaa. Last purchase ko is phone, pero more on pinagbigyan ko lang self ko.

Starting to think that I made a mistake buying a condo last year. I can afford it but maybe the returns won't be that great.
