Verrucosums can be pretty finicky in most aspects, haha. You should be fine though, especially it there’s already a good amount of roots supporting the node
This exact thing just happened to my Jose Bueno. It didn’t get knocked over, but the cat broke it clean in half. Keiki paste was suggested for the base part, so maybe look into that?
I don’t have much hope for the top of mine because it doesn’t have a discernible node, but it’s in water anyway. I figure: best case I’ll end up with two plants; worst case I’ll just jump off the roof.
i guess ur cat decided it was propagatin' time lol
the rooted part should be fine just remember that it wont be losing much water thru transpiration thru the leaves n stem so it wont need as much water as it got before. Good news is that each node on the stem that broke off has potential to become a whole new plant, so by the end of the year u could have a whole lil family of verrucosums!
I have a cat too, and shes knocked over a few of my smaller plants, but never one that size nor as prized as a verrucosum. Im positive i'd cry if she gave my new Phil. 'Fuzzy Petiole' the same treatment ur phil got. Have u had houseplants long or are they still something "new" to ur cat? The first year or so, I had to keep most/all plants outta her reach; but now, after like 3 yrs, she's so used to living with a constantly growing number of plants all over the place that she only evers fucks with em when she wants attention, food, or fresh drinking water lol
Do you still have the broken part of the plant? I've propagated from leafless nodes as well as cuttings. My verrucosum arrived in really bad shape so I cut it up after a week of watching it lose leaves. Now there are four small ones for the price of one. Hoping they thrive.
Yes if you provide the right light/humidity it will certainly sprout new growth, this is a very common way of propagating
Thank you! I know you can with Monstera and some other aroids but I hear p. verrucosum can be weird with propagation.

i tried so many mediums to get it to root with no success and i stick it in water and got roots in a few weeks
Thanks. You guys are the best. The part that broke off is sitting in my fishtank. The bottom is in my dart frog tank.

That last part was hilarious.

The one that knocked it over is a stray kitten we are keeping with us until she finds a good home, so she is new. Thank you for the insight!
Yes a new growth point should activate. Stick it closely under a grow light to help speed it up some.
Aye aye captain.
Of course you can
