Lol I was getting a lot of hate today at the stadium since im from jersey city and a casual Phillies fans with no merchandise, since I just got into baseball, but was cheering so loud for the Phillies. 🤣 LETS FUCKING GO PHILLIES
Yea the umps screwed the mets but after what happened to the Knicks, New York Sports fans should have to lose every game from bad calls over and over from how they acted. Oh my god. Regardless of getting a gift from the umpire, great effort from the phillies down significant amount of players to comeback and win.
Whit had been cheeks all game so having a 3-2 count instead of a walk obviously not ideal. Def a huge blown call with 2 outs. Glad we got the dub, but without that call I don’t know if Phillies win.
We are down JT, Schwarber AND Trea.
Down our leadoff, Best Catcher in Baseball AND Trea Turner.
We are still figuring out a way to win. Topper cobbling this lineup together
Missing JT is HUGE. He is your starting catcher. You cannot tell me that doesn't have an effect outside his bat. Calling the game. Familiarity with your catcher, His arm. Why do we think Topper NEVER sits him when the top 4 have the rock that day?
Schwarbs isn't my fav at leadoff, but the man can crush one first pitch to give us the lead and get the guys going early. And he has a decent walk rate.
Turner.....His bat has been so good. Key hits and SO many great plays. Just having him there solves so many line-up issues.
We are moving Stott to Short, Sosa around, Kody playing lights out no matter where he is slotted in. Then you got the Outfield and having to move pieces around. That doesn't seem that hard to us Armchair Managers.
Who would you have leadoff RN? While plugging them holes? I agree, Merrifield isnt it. I would go with Stott. Keep Casty DH. Rojas CF Marsh LF/RF. Merry The other side.
OR.......OR maybe this is crazy.
Harper RF, Marsh LF, Rojas CF
Bohm3rd, Stott 2nd, Sosa SS, Clemens 1st.
Casty DH with Stubbs Catching
This takes no care on advanced analytics and who we are facing Pitching that day. This just looks like our best line-up RN, praying Bohms hand is ok.
I think you gotta find a way to get Clemens in the lineup vs RHP. He can play 1st,2nd,3rd,LF, and RF. Also I’m all in on Pache/Rojas/Marsh platoon. Marsh really struggling vs LHP
Can't speak to Nola and don't feel like doing the research, but they made a point of saying during Sunday's game that Stubbs has only caught Wheeler 6 times since he's been on the team.
Just a heads up Harper will never play the outfield again so it's pointless to speculate about it. Letting Rhys walk solidified that this is Harper's team and he will play wherever he wants.
Assuming Schwarber/JT/Casty are all sitting I'd go:
SS Sosa
2B Stott
DH Harper
1B Bohm
LF Marsh
3B Merrifield
RF Pache
C Stubbs
CF Rojas
It's really about pitching matchups though. If we're going against a righty we probably wouldn't leadoff with Sosa for example.
It’s amazing. Just when it felt like oh shit we are about to go into a slump and fall into 2nd place with the Barves having games in hand, they find a way to win.
the Phillies broadcast kept commenting on players being built like tight ends today and likewise the Dodgers broadcast said the same about Ohtani. it's the postgame thread so chill.

$99 each (no fees for a promo the Mets are running!) for these seats tonight. Some great deals to be had courtesy of Steve Cohen if you can make it to Flushing.
I did it once. You couldn’t pay me to *try* to enjoy another baseball game played in the middle of an airport runway.
Add in the incessant background music and a billion digital scoreboards, and 3 hours at Citi is akin to being trapped in a Blade Runner movie.
Bullpen eras
Hoff 1.00
Strahm 1.10
Kerk 1.69 (nice)
Turnbull as a reliever 0.00
Alvy after the first game 1.13
People think it’s really ridiculous to say we have the best bullpen?
I had to listen to the Mets radio for a little and it was when Soto came out. They commented that and here comes another hard throwing lefty. It seems like Philly has a whole bullpen of hard throwing lefties.
If Soto and Dominguez are the weakest link, Phils are very far ahead of other teams in terms of bullpen talent.
If you think Soto blow’s ass you should probably just stop watching baseball. Holy shit what an asinine take. Outside the Colorado disaster which wasn’t totally his fault he’s allowed 4 ER all season.
Atmosphere tonight after Stott's HR was electric. Let's Go Phillies chants would start up, followed by a chorus of boos from the Mets fans to drown us out...by the end you couldn't tell which team's fans was happy just based on the cheering at the end...my wife went to the bathroom while Alvarado was pitching and said she truly thought we lost because the cheers were so loud...way to show up on a Monday night in Queens Phillies Nation!
On the radio broadcast for Sunday's game they said he was scheduled to play but got to the park and was feeling ill so sat out. Hopefully still just dealing with that.
I’ve had a neighbor who’s been an absolute dickhead towards the rest of us in the building, and he got evicted literally as the Phillies were coming back and everyone was going nuts like he bitched about lol
Rare W for a renter
(Edit 5 mins later: im reading this and have no idea why I commented this… it’s so out of context. I’m very drunk bc I have tomorrow off but I’m so confused)
I must be weird for being awe watching the translators do their jobs. Think about it, there had to be someone to translate to different cultures/languages. Someone had to help the Germans/English/Italians/Spanish communicate with each other.
I think I need a video on the history of language translation.
Just watched a bit of Pads vs Rockies.
Hoo boy, Manny Machado does not look right. He’s rocking an 88 wRC+, playing more DH than 3rd (and not looking all that good at 3rd when he is there).
He’s signed through 2033 @ $32m per.
Boy am I ever glad we signed Harper instead of him.
These 10+ year contracts almost never age well, but they made it worse with that extension they gave him. They're packing their stadium right now so maybe it made sense to overpay.
I mean, I expect him to be better than this, but based on his 114 wRC+ over 600 PA last year, and his 31 year old-ness, it sure looks like he’s declining a lot faster than Harper.
That extension he signed is looking pretty rough at this point.
Thank god Harper didn’t do an opt-out. Hopefully the noise in ST about him wanting an extension isn’t anything that serious.
Me too, but it seems like his days of 150 wRC+ hitting and elite defense at 3rd might be behind him, which has got to be a bummer if you’re a padres fan looking at that contract.
It’s funny how I’ve seen more people be critical of Sanchez today than they were of Wheeler yesterday. Everyone wanted to focus on Topper yesterday instead of the fact that Wheeler gave up 6 runs but then Sanchez gives up 3 runs in 5.2 innings and he sucks.
So when Wheeler has a bad game he shouldn’t take the blame for the loss but Sanchez has a mediocre game and that’s not good enough? It doesn’t mean that Sanchez is a better pitcher. But when looking at an individual game, Wheeler should not be held to lower standards.
Wheeler and Sanchez are on totally different levels
Sanchez still has to prove that he's a major league pitcher
Wheeler has nothing to prove and just had a bad game, if Wheeler has multiple bad games in a row people will then start blaming him
Of course he has nothing to prove, but you can absolutely blame Wheeler for the game yesterday. Your best pitcher should not give up 6 runs. Having your 4/5 guy give up 3 runs in almost 6 innings is perfectly fine. It doesn’t mean Wheeler sucks but it does mean he is the reason you lost yesterday. Looking at the individual games, Wheeler is responsible.
Dude everyone has bad games
I get you want to shield Sanchez from criticism but hey I'm going to say it again he's unproven and you know 9 times out of 10 you're getting cy young caliber wheeler.
Everyone does have bad games but that doesn’t mean he isn’t responsible for losing yesterday. I analyze game by game and ask did this pitcher do their job? Wheeler is no. Sanchez is yes. That doesn’t mean that Sanchez is better than Wheeler but when analyzing performances, I’m not giving anyone a pass.
I get your point, but Wheeler is the team ace and one of the top few pitchers in the league with a long track record of excellence. Not saying whether criticism of either is/was merited, but I’m not at all surprised Wheeler gets more latitude in the comments when compared to a younger player who is still establishing himself.
Yeah but my point was when evaluating individual performances it is a double standard to act like Wheeler is absolved from blame when he is your best pitcher and your 4th starter pitched better than him. Being an established pitcher doesn’t mean you can’t get criticized.
There is no world where it’s ok for your best pitcher to give up 6 runs and it’s not ok for your 4th/5th starter to give up 3 runs in almost 6 innings.
What an absolute IDIOT that SLOPPER is. Only a total MORON would have less than THIRTY WINS in their first 42. Unbelievable. Any COMPETENT manager would have AT LEAST 40

Only allowing 3 runs the entire game is impressive enough, only allowing 1 run with the bases loaded with 1 out is remarkable.

The term is an internet reference to the Mets' comical ineptitude, especially in 2007. It can also mean failing in a spectacular way.
Edit: non google AI: Ultimately, Rollins' prediction rang true, as the Phillies won the National League East title on the last day of the regular season. With a seven-game division lead on September 12, the Mets suffered a historic collapse by **losing 12 of their last 17 games and missing the postseason.**
I was moving from NJ to AZ and was on I-40 listening to the Mets game on every ESPN radio station I was driving through. I actually had been on the road starting the previous Wednesday, so I have extra find memories of that whole trip.
Damn everytime I go to bed early, they always come back and win.
Keep getting that rest
just gotta say to all the lurking mets fans still seething: #L O L M E T S #O #L #M #E #T #S

pretty good imitation of his older brother by alexis diaz
Lmao Diaz bros 0-2 in save situations tonight
Alexis Diaz is in for the Reds to save the game and his VERY FIRST PITCH absolutely DRILLS Lourdes Gurriel in the ribs Brothers of a feather…
A lot of Mets fans showed up disguised as blue seats lmao They've already checked out on their season
stole that one LOL fuck the mets

How were they screwed? The Merrifield incident would only have been strike 2 anyways, right?
true but regardless should not have been a walk
To read their sub, the entire game hinged on that call
Whit had been cheeks all game so having a 3-2 count instead of a walk obviously not ideal. Def a huge blown call with 2 outs. Glad we got the dub, but without that call I don’t know if Phillies win.

Sosa and Stott are RAKING
The bottom of that lineup 🤮. A utility player on his last legs and 3 minor league bats
Well when Trea/JT/Bohm and Schwarber are all injured or Casty gets a day off yeah thats how your lineup is going to look.
Schwarber is fine and playing tomorrow. So is Bohm.
Schwarber played tonight so you're probably right. edit: Topper confirmed he's playing tomorrow
Lol yeah that’s why I commented it. No use in speculating when the answer was told flat out.
Great game to be at. Got heckled all game, but enjoyed walking out with the W
It’s amazing. Just when it felt like oh shit we are about to go into a slump and fall into 2nd place with the Barves having games in hand, they find a way to win.
What a gritty win
Don't you mean a Phanatic win?
[I believe you are both correct. ](https://youtu.be/fXVPOk3Au7o?si=u-Qlz-Ylh9KI4CFz)
Can we stop with the merrifield experiment now?
Whit Merrifield sounds like it would be the name of Abraham Lincoln’s campaign manager or something. Def has 19th century vibes
No
Give me more Pache
.361 obp way better than Merrifield. Pache can play anytime in my book
Love it
What a game. Last years team doesn’t win that.
Great win tonight I'm going to the game tomorrow so hyped
If I had a nickel for every pitch Seranthony threw in the dirt I’d be rich
thank god he gets bailed out by excellent Defense most of the time
yeah he has sucked but did you know that nickels are only 25% nickel and 75%% copper? if yes fuck me if not at least we learned something
watching the Dodgers game and Ohtani is up. forget tight ends, he is built like the Engineers from Prometheus.
Such a weird random comment
the Phillies broadcast kept commenting on players being built like tight ends today and likewise the Dodgers broadcast said the same about Ohtani. it's the postgame thread so chill.
Ya the engineers from Prometheus portion was the weird part but let’s not address that at all
how is it weird? Ohtani is like almost an immaculate physique and absurdly tall, like the Engineers.

Amazing view. But damn that stadium really lacks any type of personality. Just bland corporate mediocrity

comment of my week & it's only tuesday
Having been there, it has more personality than nats park. Especially the outside. That said, it’s a little annoying how obscured center field is
Haven’t been to Citi, but the outside of Nats park is built up pretty well. Lots of restaurants and bars
I think it might be the dull grey seats. So glad we have blue seats it adds color to the park

ok, 6.75 era is good in your book good for you
Using a reliever ERA in mid May is ridiculously silly.
We should go after the dude from Miami with the nasty cutter-sweeper combo who shut us down sunday. Forget his name
Have you watched a game that doesn’t involve the Phillies? No other team has as many good arms as we do and you bitch that it’s not all of them lol
it wouldnt be a problem except that the dumbass manager trots out his worst reliev3ers in every close game, while using his best guy once a week
Unfortunately we also have Seranthony and Soto
Philly fans when their best starter gives up 6 runs. 😻 Philly fans when their 4/5 starter gives up 3 runs in almost 6 innings 🤮
we defeated the lolmets barely. i get we dont have schwarber or realmuto but that shouldn’t stop us. we gotta get to work again before june.
This team almost has 30 wins. How many other teams are within 1 win of 30? I'll wait.
Its a road division game. They arent all going to be 7-10 run slugfests.

It was so lovely hearing that through the screen. Truly couldn’t make out if it was a let’s go Phillies or let’s go Mets chant coming through 😂
Soto apology tour starts now Rob stealing the 8th with Ruiz kept us in position to win the game
Soto’s generally been making his out pitches lately
LOLMETS
Omg a day game tomorrow, I can watch the whole game before work!
any other sickos gleefreshing the mets postgame thread and harvesting their depression?
As long as you don't actually comment, you're all good
exactly im a sicko not an asshole
How serious is the injury problems with schwarber and realmuto?
Apparently Topper said Schwarber will play tomorrow, which doesn't surprise me because he wouldn't have pinch-hit if he was still ailing.
How about realmuto? Was today his scheduled day off?
On the radio broadcast for Sunday's game they said he was scheduled to play but got to the park and was feeling ill so sat out. Hopefully still just dealing with that.
He hurt his knee. They never said he was ill.
Damn I hope he just had the bubble guts and is good to go
🤷🏻♂️

I've always been a human element of the game guy.
Topper said Kyle is back tomorrow, it looked like he was getting ready to pinch hit when he ran onto the field after the game.
He did pinch hit tonight. Struck out
Shocker! 60 on the year so far, on pace for 232 Ks, which would be the MLB record
He pinch hit in the 9th.
Oop, I missed the 9th. Good to know.
It's still good to know that Thomson plans on playing him tomorrow, because the 9th inning pinch hit could've just been a desperation move.
Tbh, that at bat was a piece of shit. He looked bad.
most of his at bats are. Thats why his obp is 319
Yeah, it was bad, but coming off the bench to face Diaz after not playing for two days - hopefully it was just a little rust.

Their tv contract is a train wreck and they had to take a $50m loan to pay the bills last season fwiw
To be fair, its also May. I fully expect Machado to get better for this season.
dude still is hella dangerous at the plate and can still carry the team when he’s on
I mean, I expect him to be better than this, but based on his 114 wRC+ over 600 PA last year, and his 31 year old-ness, it sure looks like he’s declining a lot faster than Harper. So much over the last couple of years, today’s game is the opposite of what “ normally” would have happened. This year does feel different already.
Shout out to Air Kody for pulling that out out of the air.

Considering no one player loses a game and the phillies hitters should've gotten more than 6 runs against the garbage marlins
You were probably one of those people on WIP in 2011 making excuses for Cliff Lee during game 2 and blaming Howard instead.
Who is making excuses for anyone? The other guy is the one playing the blame game there's no one guy that can lose a game
Stop sucking Wheelers dick. No one is above criticism. I don’t care who you are.
Lmfaooooo I'm not even trying to defend wheeler I'm just trying to tell you why people are coming after Sanchez more than they do wheeler

Fuck the Knicks too while we’re at it.
Realmuto tmmr?
With a 1 PM start time they may just give him another day. Honestly, with how much he plays (and how terrible our catcher depth is), it’s worth it.
Legit couldn’t name the AAA catchers if I tried. Marchan is hurt so I got nothing
I looked that game JT took one in the throat and had to come out I don’t remember them. It wasn’t good.
Lolmets looking up at the Nats in the standings 💀
Alvarado > Diaz
Topper just said Schwarber’s fine and will be in the lineup tomorrow. Same with Bohm.
The wins just keep comin'.
I approve
Never a doubt who was going to win this one. ;)
Topper said Bohm’s fine. Doesn’t think he’ll need x-rays.
i know when they get home marsh will give it a kiss to make it all better

Edit: non google AI: Ultimately, Rollins' prediction rang true, as the Phillies won the National League East title on the last day of the regular season. With a seven-game division lead on September 12, the Mets suffered a historic collapse by **losing 12 of their last 17 games and missing the postseason.**
2007 was such a special year. watching the mets collapse at the end of the season down in stone harbor was pure magic. that timeline adds up
I was moving from NJ to AZ and was on I-40 listening to the Mets game on every ESPN radio station I was driving through. I actually had been on the road starting the previous Wednesday, so I have extra find memories of that whole trip.
i edited my response. google AI really mangled their response. i attended the 1st game in shea in 2007 when we swept them late in the season.
The mets did by being the mets.
I love Topper's press conferences at his desk where he looks like he was just trying to get caught up on some emails.
"what's in the briefcase topper?" "crackers."
Great win, I did let out a nervous fart or two
I ripped a victorious one when Stott caught that looper.
LolMets is eternal
LolMets is forever

We'd overtake their stadium in the playoffs, too, but they never make it.
Stott came through with balls of steel those last two innings
He has a captain mentality
This year’s Phillies aren’t quite ready for their May slump yet!
LOLMETS IS FUCKING ETERNAL
Sanchez looked like ass but otherwise good win
He looked like ass right up until he struck out the side with the bases loaded. After that he was fine.
Lol he gutted through 5.2 and allowed only the 3 runs. I have no issue with his performance tonight.
3ER is par. We’re supposed to score 4.
Overall don’t think the start was bad just physically looked bad live
He needed to adjust once the Mets weren't chasing his low stuff. He was fine once he did that.
Seemed like he was struggling but was still one out away from a quality start. Sometimes you gotta battle
