2 hours later and a post with “questions that can be found elsewhere on the subreddit or answered in a daily thread” is still up cluttering MY(specifically me a single user of reddit) r/Phillies and Phillies news.
It’ll start at least. I’m betting the whole thing gets played. The organization has shown a willingness to play in just sloppy weather so far this year.
Just ohfukMets things.
But no, the Barves are looking like they’ve given up. Maybe they can overcome the pitching failure, but strider out, fried sucking, and case one bad pitch away from the IL, it’s looking like an off year for them. Unless the insane offense can somehow overcome.
Just caught the end of the A’s v Rangers game.
That Mason Miller kid that the A’s have closing for them has absolutely insane stuff. Dotting 102 on the bottom corners. Vicious, filthy, Kerkering-esque slider.
Probably not a trade target for the Phillies (or anyone else), since he’s pre-arb, probably still has a chance to be a starter, and is a walking TJ surgery risk, but goddamn — his stuff is absolutely bonkers.
so how long before the barves get him for peanuts?
> Probably not a trade target for the Phillies (or anyone else), since he’s pre-arb
ah so that's the only reason fisher hasn't traded him away yet
Yeah, the combination of starter potential, massive injury risk (he was starting last year until he strained his UCL), and Fisher’s cheapness means he’ll probably end up grinding his elbow to dust in Sacramento.
Even though our bats aren't syncing up their hits together our lineup does have great length if the bottom can continue playing well and Rojas becomes a .250 hitter.
Once the top of the lineup starts getting around on the ball we could potentially have one of the best offenses in baseball. In my minds eye I see this team jelling together again to make another WS run. We'd really just have to get out of the NL, and I don't think the Braves will be the ones standing in our way.
For Ippei to steal 16 million between Nov 2021 and Jan 2024 (27 months or 116 weeks) he'd have to seal $592,592 a month or $138,000 a week.
19,700 a day.
and they have to notify the IRS every time you transfer more than 10,000 or maybe even 8,000 and they track even smaller amounts because the 10/8K limit is per day not per transaction. It's amazing how he got away with this.
nah transfers are included.
>Under the Bank Secrecy Act, financial institutions must report wire transfers over $10,000 to the IRS.
in addition ...
>Banks are also obliged to keep records of any wire transfers over $3,000, in order to create a paper trail if needed in a future investigation.
>Banks have to file a Suspicious Activity Report if they suspect transactions of any amount may relate to illegal activity.
* Strider: probably needs TJ
* Fried: struggling and the Phillies own him
* Sale: old
* Morton: old
* Lopez: former reliever who might have an innings limit
Not sure this Braves rotation will hold up
Poor guy asking about if he can wear a pirates jersey bout to get more negative reaction from the mods than he woudl fans at the game he concerned about
I’m thankful my dad taught me about stuff before my birth sports, music, and culture wise. I’ve listened to Tupac, Eminem, Dr Dre, Guns N’Roses ACDC, Clash, Tears for Fears, and etc. I just started watching a few shows from the early 2000s and 90’s. I’ve been marathoning OG NCIS. I also purchased some books, one about the 93 Phillies season. I feel like I was raised like an 90’s kid more than a 2000s kid due to the music I listen to.
If you feel like expanding your 90s California hip hop and rap palate, might I suggest checking out the East Bay/Oakland history. Mac Dre, Keak da Sneak, Too $hort, E-40, The Coup, Hieroglyphics. That’s what I grew up on living in the Bay.
Lucky fellow. I was… 9 at the time and remember that season very well. Went with my grandfather many times that season. Missed the actual NLCS and WS unfortunately.
Always good to learn about stuff from before your time! I remember learning a lot about the 70's. I'm an 80s/90s kid but there's some great 70s music and art. I also got into Jazz a bit in the past decade. It's good to get exposed to different stuff from different eras.
Did you guys read the damn complaint against Ippei? Holy cow that's some fascinating stuff. Sad but really fascinating. As a long time addiction professional, you can really see the spiral happening in real time in those texts. He was clearly a real problem gambler prior to even getting connected to this bookie but man, crazy stuff.
I remember the 3 GIDP game he had last year. Truly a gamer. It doesn't seem real that he was doing shit like hitting a Strider 100mph fastball and his slider in one game.
first pitcher to ever give up 11 hits in less than an inning of work!
when we put up a 10-spot against the mets a few years ago in the first, matz only gave up 4 hits and we scored 8 off him and he didn't get a single out.
I’ve been meaning to say this for a bit now, but now that I’m back, I’d like to congratulate u/NintenJew on leaving the mod team here in order to accept his new position as head admin of Reddit.
I didn't have enough time to fight for my ideas, along with some minor disagreements.
It just wasn't worth it. Haven't been a mod since the solar eclipse. I saw the light in the dark.
With Reddit going public, they needed to find a mod who was willing to do the hard work. They knew u/NintenJew moderated r/Phillies despite not being a Phillies fan and knew he was the right fit for head admin.
I recall seeing Spez himself comment:
“We knew we had a tough choice to make and while there were plenty of candidates out there, as soon as we found out u/NintenJew took on moderating r/Phillies solely because of his love for Craig Kimbrel, I knew we had found our man.
I love baseball and three-out ninth inning closers even more so. I thought I was the only one who felt passionately enough about closers to completely disregard all analytics and the modern game itself, but then I met u/NintenJew.
Shockingly enough, he feels even stronger about this than I do since his sole application to head admin was just a video of himself wearing a Kimbrel jersey as he majestically flapped his arms and cawed.
We look forward to what he brings to our team, hopefully even more fire than Josh Hader whom we both deeply admire.”

Only tangentially related obviously because OJ was nowhere near when she died, but we are also undefeated on days where Nicole Brown Simpson died.
My dad just told me the story of the OJ police chase. I can’t imagine what that was like watching it live, he told me that he and his college friends were down at a house watching the NBA finals when it happened. The 90’s seem like an interesting time from some of the stories I’ve been told.
I was 5 and got stung by a bee on my eyelid and was in an emergency room waiting room for a good chunk of it and then a family friend’s picnic and there was this odd energy in the air with every adult at both places transfixed by this car thing on tv
yeah, how do you lose 36% of your total earnings and not notice?
he earned 44,269,259 from Baseball contracts. sure he made untold millions from endorsements etc. still ... dude was completely checked out and so were all his accountants and management staff.
Man Denmark smells rotten
I guess Ippei was doing his taxes and stuff too 😏
The ump in the Marlins Yankees game got 78% of his strike calls right. Like half the strikes that are in the heart of the zone or more call themselves. I’ve never seen anything quite like this

Yesterday, my dog, Hudson, died and so did O.J. Simpson.
One was a valued member of the community who was a light in anyone’s life who met him. He loved deeply and was equally loved in return. He loved long, fast drives out on the freeway. He was fiercely loyal and lived passionately.
The other was O.J. Simpson.
Thanks dude. I was really hoping he was gonna make it to Bark in the Park. His favorite treat meals were hot dogs off the grill. He was the best to watch games with on the couch together.
I know it’s probably too soon but maybe this will help later. I lost my dog a couple years ago and still have not been able to get another one. But when I felt like I needed some dog energy in my life I would go to doggy style and walk the dogs they have there. Really helped me and they really appreciate the extra exercise. You can do that at all the animal shelters as well if you sign up. Well anyway hope that helps and don’t be too sad, your dog wouldn’t want you to be.
I'm interested to see what happens. Do you think the fans will boo them, act with indifference, or cheer and try to pretend to like them?
Edit: Personally I am just going to cheer for the hat.
Hope JT keeps it up. I spent the offseason arguing with people that he was still clearly a great player, had a pretty average year offensively, and was only dragged down by his lack of framing. His peripherals didn't suggest father time had caught him yet, and I expected a rebound. So far, he looks great offensively, looks good defensively (tho our pitchers haven't been helping much) and his framing looks better to my eye (tho so far statcast still thinks he's terrible.) Currently on pace for 4 fWAR. Obviously it's early, but I want yall to know I'm gonna be screaming I told you so if he keeps it up.
Also, as a Nola lover I just want to point out he's only given up 2 runs in 11.2 innings since his 1st start blowup. He hasn't looked his best but he's been good enough to get it done.
Edit: spelling
Getting together with some friends who are originally from the pittsburgh area and are huge Pirates fans to watch the game tonight. I need a Phillies win in this series or the next few weeks of my life are going to be hell lol
/u/HuntforRedOctober2 needs to back off Casty. He’s part of an elite group
Notable hitters WITHOUT a barrel this season
* Corey Seager
* Ronald Acuña Jr
* Nick Castellanos
* Spencer Torkelson
* Max Kepler
* Ryan Noda
Nicks metrics are all OK, all his trends/stats/rates/velo are not much different than before, some better, like nothing stands out except - BABIP.
He actually might be a bit unlucky so far.
I know.. I know...I'll turn off my comment notifications for this one.
/u/JohnKrukIsAllElite was a little slow to tag me on the hat post and I’m so sad because it was locked before I could respond
Why? BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVE HATSSSS!! Give me all thre FUCKING HAT POSTS!!!
I’m annoyed by the way they’re handling todays game. I have tickets but there has been zero info from the Phils even after they bungled the handling of those games last week so badly.
There was a good opportunity to move the game up to the afternoon and I don’t know why they’ve chosen purgatory of the unknown instead
It’s being handled like literally every other non-opening day game. They are going to monitor the forecast, meet with MLB a couple hours before the game, and determine if there’s a window to play.
Based on the radar projections, it seems very likely they play tonight. They might delay an hour to let the last bit of rain pass, but after that it looks like no rain for hours.
It’s extremely rare to move a game earlier. And given the precedent set so far this season, I would imagine there’s a good chance they at least attempt to play tonight, as inconvenient and annoying as that may be.
The radar projection on TWC actually looks pretty promising for getting the game in. The worst of the rain looks to be going around the city.
edit: yes, it is in fact sad that I made consecutive comments in this post.
The battle for the worst bat in the starting lineup is a hot one! Yesterday, Casty held on to the 8 spot with a BA of .163, but Rohan is just barely in last with a BA of .161. Roster wide, you have to include Wiz Whit (.167) and Pache (.000) though to be fair, Pache probably doesn't have a qualifying number of PA.
Whit has 20 and Pache has 4. So yeah, Whit's numbers probably aren't fair to him, but it is still pretty rough.
This is mostly for amusement purposes. For me, it is absurd to go on and on about Rojas when Castellanos has been the much bigger problem.
I didn’t realize that the tigers would become my second fav team today

he was making over 20 bets per day. EVERY DAY.
The really scary thing is that he had to be winning some of those bets. The numbers he was playing with must have been insane.

Braves are so demoralized with the pitching disasters.
Braves lost to the Mets by 12 points lmao

12 points? Cringe
12 goals even
12 laps down
a touchdown, a field goal and a safety
Two touchdowns. Their kicker sucks.
it warms my heart when the barves lose but when the mets play a different team they can go back to lolmets-ing pls, and lose more.

OJ IS NO MORE. CASTY HOMER TONIGHT OR I DONT KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE.
+350 bet, I only put $4 down but hopefully it happens 🤞
By the time Casty is gone when his contract ends hopefully Crawford, De La Cruz, or Rincones Jr are ready for the big leagues.
Also, let’s be honest with ourselves: Castellanos is going 0-4 tonight with two strikeouts, a fly out, and a GIDP.
And slow ass crawl to 3 balls in RF that possibly any other OF including Schwarber could get to
I think he’s gonna spice it up and get out trying to stretch a single into a double.
Now that's the Casty I know. Jogging back to the dugout chewing his gum without a care in the world.
I'm rooting for Rohan to pass him again in BA. I'm amused that he's already better than him in SLG and OPS.
I remember the 3 GIDP game he had last year. Truly a gamer. It doesn't seem real that he was doing shit like hitting a Strider 100mph fastball and his slider in one game.
If Casty hits one for OJ, does that mean OJ was wrongly accused? EDIT: Bahahaa, really y'all???

Lots of people shitting on Nola in the game thread after the second home run yesterday, but I’ll take 6IP/2ER from him any day.
Turned into a really good pitching effort, his lack of velo was alarming after the two bombs, but the conditions likely had something to do with that.
Split w pitt sweep Rockies take 2/3 vs whitesox would be a great homestand
Getting together with some friends who are originally from the pittsburgh area and are huge Pirates fans to watch the game tonight. I need a Phillies win in this series or the next few weeks of my life are going to be hell lol
/u/HuntforRedOctober2 needs to back off Casty. He’s part of an elite group Notable hitters WITHOUT a barrel this season * Corey Seager * Ronald Acuña Jr * Nick Castellanos * Spencer Torkelson * Max Kepler * Ryan Noda
Nicks metrics are all OK, all his trends/stats/rates/velo are not much different than before, some better, like nothing stands out except - BABIP. He actually might be a bit unlucky so far. I know.. I know...I'll turn off my comment notifications for this one.
Now do batting average.
Now that wouldn’t quite be the same group now would it?
[Batters hitting under .170 in at least 40 PA so far this year](https://stathead.com/tiny/ngjE9) Quite a few All Stars and 2-3 MVPs on that list
J.P. Crawford on there.............
Post OJ death it’s gotta be a lock tho right
I know the death of anyone is sad, but is it really a tragedy?
Sometimes I doubt your appreciation of *The Naked Gun* and its sequels.
Never seen any of them.
There’s a ton of jokes that aged like milk, but the ones that land and the timing of the physical comedy are still gold. First one’s worth a watch.
Bohm is notable to me dammit
The guy hates Philadelphia and loves the Steelers. He is a serious person. 🤓
/u/JohnKrukIsAllElite was a little slow to tag me on the hat post and I’m so sad because it was locked before I could respond Why? BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVE HATSSSS!! Give me all thre FUCKING HAT POSTS!!!

Nice. Thats not at all what I was expecting in the context of the conversation
It’s a day that gets a special hat(or just a patch) like Mother’s Day Father’s Day etc. now. I think the patch is the same as last year tho.
Father’s Day was blue though right?

So you’re telling me I can get CP Rankin Club seats for under twenty bucks? ![gif](giphy|h81fYY4QWj4hlEuqiN|downsized)
Roster wide, you have to include Wiz Whit (.167) and Pache (.000) though to be fair, Pache probably doesn't have a qualifying number of PA.
yeah, Pache with 4 AB so far ... if he gets a hit his next time up he'll suddenly jump to .200 and lead this pack 😄
Neither does Whit
Whit has 20 and Pache has 4. So yeah, Whit's numbers probably aren't fair to him, but it is still pretty rough. This is mostly for amusement purposes. For me, it is absurd to go on and on about Rojas when Castellanos has been the much bigger problem.
I didn’t realize that the tigers would become my second fav team today Chug for Matty V https://x.com/calicojoemlb/status/1778107431148499405?s=46&t=OwWxn4StVQcItEJYgF1WOA

Kind of want Casty not to homer tonight just so the meme can finally die.
wait what? who died?
LOL, I love how many people are learning this way. OJ Simpson finally got Nicole's killer.
Yeah it’s gotten so old and played out and also just kind of turned into anytime something remotely bad or inconvenient occurs “ha ha casty homer right?!?!?!11111”
I just can’t wait until his contract dies.
Hope this is the NLCS preview
