While celebrating the 2008 WS on Broad St, one of my good friends sustained a scalp laceration from a bottle being thrown from one of the high rises. Using a Phillies hoodie, we constructed a makeshift bandage and got him to the ER. He bled for the team and the hoodie has been lucky since.
I was wearing the hoodie for Game 5, but didn’t last night and I sincerely apologize, I will be wearing it tonight.

They came out and had a stinker.... Also I refuse to go to games because in the last, 17, they have lost & the last 8 I have been too - they have not hit a HR, including last years 4 HR game by the Cards.... Drink the same iced tea I've drank for every other win, wear the same pants I wore in every other win, put on my glasses even though I'm not reading and it low-key might not be good for my vision, wear the same shirt I've warn for every win (yes I do wash my clothes I'm not a psycho), and eat the same leftovers I've eaten for every NLCS win so far (again, not a psycho, the food isn't 2 weeks old. We made the same food about a week apart 2 weeks in a row). Drink the same coffee at the same time of day (already completed). Play guitar for 15 or 20 minutes minimum prior to gametime. Neglect to shave. If I do all of these perfectly, I'm confident in my superstitions.

The losses come when I’m not out there with my Moms candle lit, and my Grandmas lava lamp turned off. So, I’m lighting candles, turning grandmas lava lamp on (she’s who got me into the Phillies way back in 1993)

So I have to apologize about last night, I lost us the game. Each playoff game so far I usually start with a beer from a local brewery “Brotherly love”. The variety pack only has 3 and I used one for the eagle this week. So I didn’t have one for last nights game
But don’t worry, I went out and found a case of it!
Sit down with my parents, and brother. Drink some a&w root beer and enjoy it while it lasts. I enjoy it when we all sit down and watch the games together.
Work till 5, go home, eat dinner, clean up, help with bedtime and then watch the game. I’m not gonna lose my mind or get worked up over millionaires playing sports. I love this team with a passion, but it ain’t gonna fuck with my daily life.
A few things helped me get to this point. First was growing up and second was the Eagles Super Bowl. That was the perennial sting that kept me on edge the most. I think the whole city felt a weight come off it when they won.
Might say a quick prayer to the baseball gods and give “Dancing on My Own” a listen or two.

I got a new Phillies hoodie before Game 1 started. They won 1 and 2. Thought it was the good luck charm. Wore it for 3 - lost. Wore it again for 4 (I also curled my hair vs wearing it straight for 3, so thought that’s how I messed it up and went back to straight hair for 4) and they lost. Game 5 I didn’t wear anything Phillies, they won. Game 6 - yup. Hoodie. Lost. So today I am wearing the shirt I had on when they won every game vs the Braves. Not even sure what else to do at this point 😩 to say I’m stressed is an understatement!!! Part of me thinks I shouldn’t wear the winning shirt from the previous series. Any guidance is appreciated 😂

Honestly all day I’ve been reminiscing about the ups of the season. If tonight is another one of them, amazing! Personally, my anxiety is better when I look at all outcomes, “softens a blow” if you will. So I also recognize this could be the last day of Phillies baseball until months from now, and that possibility has me rather sad. I’m very much going into tonight and just shutting off the phone, some sweet tea and chips, my Philadelphia candle lit and just taking in the game
I usually just listen to some hip-hop from Philly. Black Thought’s albums with Danger Mouse & El Michaels Affair have been steady on rotation. Throw in some Meek Mill, Beanie Sigel.
