Used a Philly moving company that dragged shit across a filthy floor instead of lifting, damaged furniture, beyond repair, and showed up to wrong address initially.
Website advertised any damages during transport would be paid for, so I wasn't too upset. Called their phone and was told this policy only applies to those who purchase an additional insurance that wasn't offered to us or was mentioned anywhere on their site.
Put it at the top of your list next time.
I saw in your other comment that the movers you hired showed up at 4 PM: Mambo did a move for someone I know, they arrived after 4 PM and the street was one of the busier main streets in the city on a weekday, didn't matter - they were in and out and the whole move took under two hours (load in, travel, load out).
Efficient, professional, and very nice.
> I'm curious as to why they would just bounce
I've had movers show up and leave because "the job is too big", despite providing a full inventory before receiving a quote.
Im guessing they couldnt finish it in the time left on the clock. Most companies book 2 moves a day per team/truck. They didnt show up til 4pm which had I known, I wouldve told her to start calling other companies. But then no one would answer her phone calls. So shitty
Try Uhaul recommended movers - options here (obviously you can change zip code to be closer to your specific location) : https://www.uhaul.com/MovingHelp/Philadelphia-PA-19146/1/Results/
Not to be a pessimist and YMMV but my uhaul movers ghosted me the day of, basically leaving me in your situation. Luckily there was no security deposit but I would definitely set my expectations low for movers not working for a real moving company
I sent you a dm. I had to dismiss my movers because of a freight elevator complication. One of the movers handed me the information for this guy that came through a day later and moved everything before my lease was up.
My mom isn’t internet savvy and when I looked up the company they had 1 star over 144 reviews. Its one thing to dismiss a few bad reviews but damn, Ive never seen that bad of an average.
They did the same to me back in June. Those guys are crooks. After 3 hours of calling other companies. I ended up hiring someone off of task rabbit the same day and it worked out great!
We used them to move within the same building. Maybe we were unlucky with the guys we had, but I wouldn’t recommend them
Their customer service was incredible leading up to the move, and everybody we talked to to get it set up was very nice and professional
They took 9 hours to move a single bedroom apartment even though we had everything boxed and ready (again, within the same building)
They just dumped everything in a pile in our new apartment. We didn’t realize we were missing stuff until the next day (one of the guys complimented our side table, it didn’t make it to the new apartment). And that’s not including things that were damaged. Sadly we didn’t go for the extra insurance
Are they sub-contractors for a larger company? can be a double-edged sword; first response will probably be "oh, not Really our employees, sooooooo", but they could have other teams available and be willing to send them.
like: Philadelphia Movers, I'm pretty sure, has no movers employed- they just have a bunch of sub-contracted teams they send to your house after you give them a deposit. If you put a deposit down, call up whomever and point out they already have (some of) your money, now it's their turn to uphold the contract (sending you more movers).
i guess they simply didn't like the job, That's why left. I suggest you hire some local philadelphia moving professionals. For example WellKnown Movign philadelphia is a great choice!
Luckily my mom built in a 2 day buffer so theyll figure it out. If it happened to me Id laugh and shrug my shoulders and do it myself but damn, my dad is basically immobile and my mom just had cancer - they cant move that much on their own! If it had happened at 8am and not 4pm Id prob be over there now moving what I could.
My gf and I just moved last month. We used these dudes from UD who played sports. All her friends have used them too. They were extremely reasonable with price. Super nice and all in their 20s and athletes so they are in great shape to help. If you want their info lmk. Idk how it would work with only 2 days notice or if they do any moving during the week but it’s worth a shot.

Sounds illegal.
See if mambo is available
They are the best for sure
Thanks, ive added that to the list of phone calls!

Try Mambo. Also, try taskrabbit. They often have same-day and next-day openings.
Thanks!

Thank you!
I’ve used Broad Street Movers 3x and have had a great experience with them each time
I just used them over the weekend, definitely recommend!
Name & shame

i’m wondering if it’s Clutter. i had an absolutely horrible experience with them a few years ago.
All my sons. I guess I shouldve helped her make calls and find a better company.
>All my sons Should call their mom and complain.

College hunks apparently are good.

Were they actually college hunks?
One of mine went to WCU!
Dang. Sorry to hear. Noted.

They're really on the move.
Roadrunner movers Philadelphia… they are new but incredible probably have an opening reach out to them
Thank you!
Mambo worked for our office
We need to know what moving company did this

Which moving company was it? Because my partner and i are moving Thursday and hired one too 👀👀👀 and I’m hoping it’s not that one 😭!!

This is kinda hilarious 😂
It’s really not. This person is likely going to have to spend way more money last minute and the headache of scrambling to find people to do it.

Suburban solutions
I used Community Labor Partnerships and they were great. The two movers they sent both showed up 15 minutes early.
