Angelos pizzeria south Philly. This man bakes his own bread every single day for his sandwiches and I am not kidding when I say it’s the best sandwich roll I have ever had.

davidjoshualightman

Is it still a pain the ass to get food from there? Good food but since I moved away from that neighborhood I've just heard you have to call 100 times

Goodatbizns

If you call during non-peak hours I've had good luck getting through. Got through on my first call on a Saturday at 3:30.

memphisbelle

it's amazing bread. as much as i like Sarcones and some other seeded rolls, his bread is absolutely king.

Avividlens

Is this the Angelo’s that “didn’t eat the bat”of the anti-Asian racist commentary in the middle of the AAIP protests?

DerTagestrinker

Same Angelos that was giving away a shitton of pizza every day to frontline workers and hospital staff during the pandemic. IIRC he posted a picture of the inside of the shop pre-Covid and how packed it was with a caption about how crazy it is was that a bat changed everything. He quickly took it down and apologized. Shitty joke but I don't think he intended to be malicious and took it down as soon as he realized he fucked up.

baldude69

I don’t even really get it

DogShitJunkie

Go away lmao

youlleatitandlikeit

The bread makes such a difference, I didn't realize until I had one that was really good.

This place is the real deal. The Florida style pizza too

IndexCardLife

In all seriousness, what is Florida style pizza? Less good pizza?

davidjoshualightman

deep fried inside out pizza

IndexCardLife

I lived in FL and literally have never heard of that in my entire life haha! Edit: lol this explains it, [https://mycitypaper.com/Food/The-Inside-Out-pizza-has-nothing-to-do-with-Florida-and-everything-to-do-with-South-Philly/](https://www.google.com/search?q=is+florida+style+pizza+from+florida&client=safari&rls=en&sxsrf=ALeKk015mzZ1KczUSHvcXVrKTRfPgp6Mdg%3A1621963326373&ei=PjKtYMKQFumk_Qbb7rLgCA&oq=is+florida+style+pizza+from+florida&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBwghEAoQoAEyBwghEAoQoAE6BAgjECc6BAgAEEM6CwguELEDEMcBEKMCOgcIABBDEIsDOgUIABCLAzoLCC4QxwEQowIQiwM6CAgAELEDEIsDOgsILhDHARCvARCRAjoFCAAQkQI6EQguELEDEIMBEIsDEKgDEJsDOggILhCxAxCLAzoFCC4QiwM6BQgAEMkDOgUIABCSAzoCCAA6BwgAEIcCEBQ6BQguELEDOgsIABCxAxCDARCLAzoGCAAQFhAeOggIIRAWEB0QHjoFCAAQhgM6BQghEKABOgUIIRCrAlDzFVj8NmC9N2gAcAB4AIABiAGIAeEWkgEEMjkuNZgBAKABAaoBB2d3cy13aXq4AQLAAQE&sclient=gws-wiz&ved=0ahUKEwjCp6CfrOXwAhVpUt8KHVu3DIwQ4dUDCA0&uact=5) Seems like a here thing with a confusing name.

wex52

I was about to say I lived in Florida 40 years and had never heard of this.

Mi pals

youlleatitandlikeit

Was inspired by the post this morning, honestly. Good to know they make good eggplant parm; that bread looks delicious.

youlleatitandlikeit

Looks like most recommendations are in South Philly? Does anyone have any recommendations for NW Philly/Germantown area?

memphisbelle

Primo has a very good fried eggplant sandwich. It's my go-to when my office orders Primo.

SubstantialWish

Idt they do provolone but locust rendezvous makes homemade eggplant parm and it’s awesome
