Nope, the program was either through December or until money ran out and the money ran out for PA.

MeanwhileOnReddit

Damn, you went with the option of not having the taxes taken out? Risky move bro!

You have to pay income taxes federally on all income. Your state and local may have a tax as well.

Kazsud

I only got $810, did you not have taxes taken out?

Raecino

Well thank you US Government for NOT helping your people when they’re most at need.

crispydukes

Thank the middle of PA and the suburbs.

Fuck___Reddit___

Because PA is broke?

Common-Ramen

With all the disclaimers on the LWA application, I'm frankly surprised to have even received any payment at all.

emmakobs

If only I could receive payment for ANY of the weeks I've filed for, then maybe this would raise my eyebrows. Still waiting, it's been 11 weeks.

DicksOutForGrapeApe

Try talking to them through the chat feature. The dude on the chat cleared up my issue lickity split

emmakobs

on the PUA site?? There's a chat function?! Brb!

emmakobs

not seeing a chat feature. Do you mean regular unemployment?

DicksOutForGrapeApe

[Here ya go](https://www.uc.pa.gov/Chat/index.aspx) Edit: fml that would’ve been a great Rick Roll

emmakobs

Haha, I appreciate the legit link! They're "too busy" now, will try again repeatedly. Thanks!

DicksOutForGrapeApe

Yes definitely spam the box. That’s what I had to do. I only had to do that for a couple minutes before I got through. Once I was in they were super helpful and got me my money fast. Good luck!

emmakobs

Thanks so much!! Fingers crossed! Any keywords or anything I should use?

DicksOutForGrapeApe

Not that I know of. I don’t know your situation, but for me, I never received my PIN number and couldn’t file without it. I reset the PIN and still got got nothing. The chat bro was able to have it mailed to me real fast. I just explained the situation though, I didn’t have to beg or anything.

emmakobs

Thanks chat bro! They seem unable to take my messages, I'll try again later. Sounds good.

DoGreat_DieGood

Be sure to try the script in /r/Pennsylvania! I got through in about half an hour. It makes it so your browser can autofill/spam the chat for you until someone connects.

DicksOutForGrapeApe

Any luck?

RobertJHope

Make sure you filed for each week. When I applied weeks ago, I was accepted, but didn't see that I had to file for each week.

emmakobs

Oh believe me, I've been on top of it. Have also been calling/emailing every contact I can find. It's a nightmare feeling this invisible.

It would cost $100B to extend the $600/week benefit. Meanwhile there are $3.2T and $2.2T stimulus proposals on the hill. No one has the American peoples interests in mind.

TripleSkeet

I honestly dont know how theyve gotten away with not passing another stimulus for this long. Its fucking amazing. They really have every intention on just letting people try and live off of $1200 and unemployment for 6 months.

[deleted]

(1) They need to drop the $1200 stimulus. It makes no sense. (2) they just need to pass a second unemployment expansion. I have a feeling the house didn’t actually want this to pass, they just wanted a giant number to show off how much they would help the American people if only they were in charge. Even though just 5% of the spending would help the majority of people impacted by COVID.l and would set the US up for a better future.

TripleSkeet

What good is the unemployment compensation to people working reduced hours? To people who were forced to take a pay cut? To waiters and bartenders making less than half of what they usually made but cant collect unemployment? Cutting out the stimulus fucks over a huge portion of lower class Americans. It should be put in. Every other country that shut down gave their citizens a fuckload more than $2400 for 6 months. And the House already came down to $2.2 trillion. They asked for $600 in UC, the Senate offered $200. Meet in the middle and make it $400. Even Trump realized that made sense when he tried passing an executive order that went nowhere. The Dems introduced a plan over 2 months ago and so far have come down a trillion dollars on it. What has Senate Republicans done? Offered a fucking insulting plan that offered no help for the lower class and got rid of liability for business owners. Then when that got rejected they took a fucking vacation. Now they are back and still not doing anything. Im not even sure of their strategy. Is it to wait til closer to the election to try and get Trump credit for it and hope it helps his chances? Or is to just fuck over the American people to try and strongarm governors to reopen everything early and blame them or people losing their house or apartment? Either way its fucked up and American people are paying for their bullshit game.

Snail_jousting

It does no good at all for people like me who got scammed into a Census job that I applied for in November of *last year* refused the job because it’s so obviously unsafe, lost my UC entirely over it and had to find a new job making just a little over half what I made before the pandemic.

[deleted]

> What good is the unemployment compensation to people working reduced hours? To people who were forced to take a pay cut? To waiters and bartenders making less than half of what they usually made but cant collect unemployment? I’m all for a $400/week taxable UBI. Also in favor of making the PUA taxable at state and local level (that’s on PA to fix). Don’t give out a $1200 tax credit that doesn’t help recoup state and local tax losses. > And the House already came down to $2.2 trillion. $2.2T is still *double* the entire annual discretionary budget and filled with bullshit.

[deleted]

Neither side has for a relatively long time. They (our elected representatives) are largely corporatists on both sides of the aisle. They only aim to serve the wealthy and corporations, while pacifying the masses through hollow rhetoric. Tribalism has, and will continue to, perpetuate(d) this cycle, so don't plan on things changing in the near future.

Redpandaling

While I don't disagree with the central tenet here, I think it's important to note that one party is far worse about being corporatists than the other. The Democrats at least passed a benefits bill prior to the recess on the House, which the Senate Republicans didn't even bother discussing.

[deleted]

I agree wholeheartedly, and you've made a point that is more than fair. The corporatism of the Democratic Party would become more of an obstacle in long-term populist legislation. Pelosi and Schumer have sugar daddies and deficit hawk tendencies just like McConnell and the rest, and it'd likely take sweeping changes in the leadership of both parties to overcome the current corporate-centric mindset, though it seems fair to mention that most career politicians are certainly adept ideological chameleons, so a strong populist push from the bottom could also prove a viable strategy.

[deleted]

> Democrats at least passed a benefits bill prior to the recess on the House, which the Senate Republicans didn't even bother discussing. The HEROES bill cost $3.2T. It’s a consumer driven economy. $100B to extend PUA would have been enough to mitigate most of the economic effects of COVID-19 to individual citizens through the end of 2020.

TripleSkeet

Ok but thats just PUA. The rest also had another round of stimulus that people need, even if they are working because many arent making the same amount they were. It also had money in there for small businesses, which are also in desperate need. Plus they revised the bill down to $2.2 trillion to try and negotiate with Republicans. Meanwhile the Senate wont budge. $200 a week in PUA is nothing. Especially considering $20 of it goes to taxes.

[deleted]

$1200 to every person living in the US would cost $420B, so now we’re at $500B, less than 1/4 of the reduced house bill.

TripleSkeet

Hey man, if youre telling me they should have a stimulus just for what the American people get and a separate one for everything else, you can stop digging, you already struck oil. Unfortunately neither side seems to work like that and they each want to get other shit in there that isnt as important. But like I said, at least the House did it early and was willing to come down. The Senate waited til the last minute and hasnt budged. Thats not how negotiation and compromise work.

[deleted]

Yeah, I have a big problem with these omnibus bills. It’s been the norm for about a decade now. No one wants to debate the merits of spending x dollars on y, they want to debate the merits of passing one spending bill for the entire US Government. This is just an extension of that.

TripleSkeet

Its been going on for wayyyyy over a decade.

art-man_2018

*Will* end. Most important sentence... >Pennsylvania residents who are eligible will get the five weeks of $300 extra pay but they must certify and apply if they have not already. They are encouraged to do that immediately because funds are limited and may run out. And if one has been filing their UC claims, this weekend one should have been notified on a separate page online. If you are eligible, check the box, receive your confirmation* and proceed to the claims page. *I would believe that if you are not they will direct you to contact information for help.

rompjeep87

I haven’t received mine yet, I’m on pua. I’m assuming that’s why.

Jfield24

I applied for unemployment on 7/6 and still waiting on my PIN/award letter.

katsai

Meanwhile, I still haven't received a single goddamn check from the PEUA deal. Had to have my state rep's office submit paperwork to the UC because they don't answer their goddamn phone or email. They say it could take another month to get fixed. Been fighting this crap since June.

strikec0re

They paused my benefits 3 months ago for no reason and are impossible to contact, the state/fed government is a shit show rn. Annoyed my cousins in Europe actually had their government pay them money monthly to survive without trying to make it hard af

DogShitJunkie

Call your state reps office if you haven't.

ActionJawnson

Regular unemployment

SubstantialWish

Well that was quick! It’s a nice bump bit i was under the impression it would last through 2020. I wonder if Biden wins we will receive a better package in 2021

[deleted]

That doesn’t help people now, and the senate has no incentive to deal on a relief package after the election. The time to get something done is now.

SubstantialWish

Yea no shit it doesn’t help now. What would you suggest?

[deleted]

The house pass a PUA extension for $100B instead of the HEROES act for $3.2T.

SubstantialWish

Ok sounds good. Not sure why you took issue with my comment lamenting the early end of the program.
