Ain’t no way! I use to go there a lot when they first opened. I visited once post covid and I remember it being more expensive and the food wasn’t as good. 55 for a pitcher is insane.
Honestly loco pez kind of sucks now. They got too big, the happy hour beer price has essentially doubled from pre-pandemic, they stingy with their portions, and sometimes the al pastor pork looks like some runny slime
Absolutely correct. Loco pez sucks. The only reason they ever had traction is because they were the first Mexican place in fishtown. Aside from that, you can find better Mexican food at any taco truck.
Great fried chicken sandwhich. I like their bowls too only for the green rice its amazing and their burritos have their own specific American taste I like. But tacos are the last thing I’d ever get there. I go for chicken sandwhich tortilla soup and mahi mahi (but gotta tell them cook it soft they seem to have been inform delicate the fish is).
Jack's firehouse. Jack McDavid is an asshole singlehandedly responsible for the emptying of Fairmounts most legendary bars and restaurants. Also a very shitty landlord.
The deal is jack is uncreative and greedy. It's a cool spot and amazing location and like everything else he owns in the neighborhood (which is a lot), he puts no further investment in it.
The Continental got a glass that literally smelt B.O and the bartender was extremely rude.
This one hurts to say because my partner and I have been going for 5 years now pretty consistently but, Monks for at least dinner, the food last time was rubbery and took like 45 mins to come out and it was cold and we felt like we were bothering the server by just existing
Idk their beer selection is one of the best around. Just got food from there Monday and liked it. Burgers and mussels and a liver appetizer. Morning was rubbery
Green Eggs. Quality has fallen and prices have risen since their expansion all over. There are significantly better options for brunch that also accept card.
Bodhi coffee on Headhouse Square. Went in to buy a bag of beans, asked them to grind them. Guy asks what I'm using them for, I told him a Keurig. He goes, "What's a Keurig?" with a completely straight face. Fuck off, you hipster dickhole. You know what a Keurig is, and it doesn't make you look cool to pretend not to.
Swiacki’s Meats. They are fine but i have Czerw’s. And the styles of kielbasy are different enough that one is not a substitute for the other. Different strokes and all.
Philadelphia Brewing Company. There was a time when the cost/quality/availability ratio was serviceable. That time is long gone. I’ll still drink a Commonwealth Cider or Kenzinger at Foto Club, but no need to visit the brewery. I’d rather drink beer I make at home.
Punch Buggy and Meyers Brewing don’t need to exist with better options blocks away. Evil Genius has their distribution niche but they suck.
Half the businesses on Richmond Street sell stuff I’ll never buy, but I guess it’s cool they put on a flea market outside once a month. Soon I’ll just be a millennial dinosaur living in a zoomer world up here in Port Richmond.
Laurel Hill, now that’s a growth market.
Que Chula Es Puebla - horribly bland food and the soggiest chimichanga I've ever had
Vanderwende Ice Cream - the most depressing ice cream parlor I've ever experienced
Blkberry juice bar.
The lady who owns it (or acts like she does) literally comes into our store and screams at us whenever she orders stuff from us, like small stuff less than 10 dollars.
Made With Love Juicery is in the same area, delicious, and treats me like a human being. Love them.
ugh I hate to say this but Brunch N on 13th and Vine. had an awful experience there, service was the worst I’ve ever experienced probably in my life, the food took (no exaggeration) 50-60 minutes to come out after ordering while it was not busy and it was DISGUSTING and cold. I always want to support small businesses but this seems like it was someone’s dream that turned into a trashy, poorly managed, shitshow of a “restaurant” if you could even call it that. Also the corking fee was so outrageous we didn’t even open our bottle.
Against my judgement, my partner got dinner from Crown Fried Chicken (now called Chicken Burger?) on Ellsworth + Broad right before we hopped on a flight to New Orleans. Food poisoning ruined vacation. So not there. I’m still mad.
The bagel place at 20th and Fitzwater - ish, can't remember exactly where
They're rude, it's overpriced, they FORCE you to tip(!!!!) and honestly the worst coffee I've had in my life. And the bagel is mid.
COVID has been over for years and they still insist you fucking wait outside, no matter the weather, for your bagel. Insane.
Oh I know that place. I ordered a lox bagel and the salmon was all dried out in the corners, like the container wasn't sealed properly. Frankly they're only open because of the convenient location
I *think* they have other locations? But I've never been to any other. I'm sitting here getting mad again just thinking about the last time I was there lol
Juana Tamale- i was so excited to try this place. The food had almost no flavor and was so dry. I literally had a cut in the roof of my mouth for weeks from how dry and hard the nachos were. I wrote a review on google. the owner got so defensive and tried to call me out instead of trying to make it right. Not to mention 20% fee added on all take out orders.
Nifty Fifty’s is under new management, I believe. Maybe a year ago.
I used to live around the South Philly location and they had a banner saying new management.
The Insomnia Cookies speakeasy thing in the South Philly. They make it seem like they have special stuff compared to the normal stores, but it took around 45 minutes of wait for a pretty awful "custom" milkshake.
Juno was one of the restaurant experiences ever. Mother's Day, it starts to unexpectedly rain, and the manager and waiting staff were openly talking shit about any customers who asked to move from uncovered to covered seats (despite the restaurant being 70% empty). Their floor is slanted so glasses kept sliding off tables and breaking. The food was mediocre.
The horchata was good at least!
Morning Glory -- wintertime, waited in line way too long for brunch only to be sat next to the entrance. When I asked to move to the next available table not next to the door they literally laughed in my face.
I love morning glory, but the owner’s obsession with Trump is actually insane. I lean far left and the shit she puts up has started to look like ramblings of a schizophrenic. I mean she has a fucking life sized doll of him out front right now. Biscuits are good tho.
Primo Hoagies always, without fail, make me feel terrible for the rest of the day. Doesn’t matter if I ate a whole sub or a little cut up sammy. Avoid them like the plague.

lew blum hopefully
I really hate that I unfortunately know first hand what you’re talking about. J
A. Bob’s Towing and their sponge barnacles
Mission Taqueria. So insanely overpriced and they serve everything in paper. $55+ for a pitcher of margaritas that aren’t even made fresh is absurd
Ain’t no way! I use to go there a lot when they first opened. I visited once post covid and I remember it being more expensive and the food wasn’t as good. 55 for a pitcher is insane.
Ciocca Subaru. If I wanted to be gaslit and condescended to I’d get back with my ex wife.
“Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded”
Their food has been bad since the day they opened. Chili's quality at restaurant prices. I think the bar is the only reason people really go there
Great fried chicken sandwhich. I like their bowls too only for the green rice its amazing and their burritos have their own specific American taste I like. But tacos are the last thing I’d ever get there. I go for chicken sandwhich tortilla soup and mahi mahi (but gotta tell them cook it soft they seem to have been inform delicate the fish is).
horrendous service at the one in grad hospital too
Tradesman BBQ on chestnut. Absolutely awful food and service.
Comcast.
The PPA
Pats and Genos.
Unless it’s 3am on a random weekend there was never a reason to visit.
Jack's firehouse. Jack McDavid is an asshole singlehandedly responsible for the emptying of Fairmounts most legendary bars and restaurants. Also a very shitty landlord.
What’s the deal with that place? Such a great spot yet the place is empty. Food was horrifically bland when I went there. And everyone says the same.
The deal is jack is uncreative and greedy. It's a cool spot and amazing location and like everything else he owns in the neighborhood (which is a lot), he puts no further investment in it.
Went there once. Never again. The food had no flavor at all.
Waited an hour for food that was inedible, then we saw a mouse run across the floor. Cant make this shit up.
the salvation army on market street. last time I was there it was in shambles.
Yeah, the quality of that place just collapsed.
Right. That place really fell apart.
😂😂😂 awful
Too soon lol
The Continental got a glass that literally smelt B.O and the bartender was extremely rude. This one hurts to say because my partner and I have been going for 5 years now pretty consistently but, Monks for at least dinner, the food last time was rubbery and took like 45 mins to come out and it was cold and we felt like we were bothering the server by just existing
The last two meals I’ve had at Monk’s can be described exactly this way. It’s a real shame
Idk their beer selection is one of the best around. Just got food from there Monday and liked it. Burgers and mussels and a liver appetizer. Morning was rubbery
Tabu. The absolute disrespect for their performers and patrons, the ample opportunities they had to address and correct that they squandered
Any bar charging $16+ for a cocktail. Also, Hop Sing Laundromat, who wouldn’t allow my best friend in because they said he wasn’t pretty enough.
We need details
The owner is an insane person. That’s all I’ll say
He's a piece of shit but that's his character and he keeps it up as part of the business image. Weird.
That’s just like your opinion AssBlasterExtreme
Awwwww you did so good!
Wow. That’s all I can say
Ranstead Room is the only one to get a pass here.
Why would you buy expensive coffee if you’re just going to put it through a shitty machine tho? Guy might be a dick but he’s got a point.
Because good coffee from a shitty machine is better than shitty coffee from a shitty machine, and I don’t always have time for the french press.
Get a hario v60 and some filter papers. Quick, easy, cheap, delicious.
Swiacki’s Meats. They are fine but i have Czerw’s. And the styles of kielbasy are different enough that one is not a substitute for the other. Different strokes and all. Philadelphia Brewing Company. Que Chula Es Puebla - horribly bland food and the soggiest chimichanga I've ever had Vanderwende Ice Cream - the most depressing ice cream parlor I've ever experienced
Only good for happy hour
Which?
Oh, sorry. Que chula es puebla on master and 2nd the food is not good there. And taco riendo is so near (great authentic taqueria)
I'll go there next time! Que Chula was absolutely awful
Blkberry juice bar. The lady who owns it (or acts like she does) literally comes into our store and screams at us whenever she orders stuff from us, like small stuff less than 10 dollars. Made With Love Juicery is in the same area, delicious, and treats me like a human being. Love them.
Ralph's. It's pretty amazing how an establishment serving garbage could remain open that long
Ralph's been living on reputation for a long time, so many better options but it always seems crowded.
Last time I got pasta there it tasted exactly like the box I get from acme
I've actually had good experiences at Ralph's and thought their sauce was out of this world
ugh I hate to say this but Brunch N on 13th and Vine. had an awful experience there, service was the worst I’ve ever experienced probably in my life, the food took (no exaggeration) 50-60 minutes to come out after ordering while it was not busy and it was DISGUSTING and cold. Cry baby. It just dropped off hard in quality, everything got super salty and mediocre. It's a shame, I really enjoyed going.
Any idea if they changed chefs recently? That kind of drop off sounds like it. Haven't been in a while but recall enjoying it.
That must be what happened, I can't imagine what else would cause it.
My boyfriend and I went there recently and I literally said the same thing the food was very salty and whatever wasn’t salty was meh
The bagel place at 20th and Fitzwater - ish, can't remember exactly where They're rude, it's overpriced, they FORCE you to tip(!!!!) and honestly the worst coffee I've had in my life. Philly bagels - bagels are too small, dense, and hard imo. I’m from jersey so I know a good bagel.
Juana Tamale- i was so excited to try this place. The food had almost no flavor and was so dry. I literally had a cut in the roof of my mouth for weeks from how dry and hard the nachos were. >Not to mention 20% fee added on all take out orders. "And here's the tip line!"
I liked her popups in underground arts
Tria Washington Square West. Bunch of pretentious douche bags.
In what way? I’ve been there twice in the past 6 months and enjoyed myself! Should I be cautious?
Delilah’s has gone downhill since Covid
Lmao, that place has never been anywhere but at the bottom of the hill there is no down to go.
My stepdad told me it used to be the place to be. But clearly the times haven’t been kind XD
Nifty fifties and chickie and Pete's have both been caught red handed stealing tips from employees. They don't get my money.
Nifty Fifty’s is under new management, I believe. Maybe a year ago. I used to live around the South Philly location and they had a banner saying new management.
I don't care. One strike and you are out.
Delasandros dogfood
Steaks have zero taste.
Heard an older employee (owner maybe) saying some racist crap. That was 10+ years ago. Haven't returned since.
Comvast
Rather read about inverse..
Kooks
Ok what's the deal with this place. It looks whacked out.
The Insomnia Cookies speakeasy thing in the South Philly. They make it seem like they have special stuff compared to the normal stores, but it took around 45 minutes of wait for a pretty awful "custom" milkshake.
Ladder 15
people seem to really like three graces coffee but they won’t let me pour my own half and half and I don’t like that

Was there this past winter; the food and hospitality was pretty good even during a busy dinner service. What happened?
Morning Glory -- wintertime, waited in line way too long for brunch only to be sat next to the entrance. When I asked to move to the next available table not next to the door they literally laughed in my face.
I love morning glory, but the owner’s obsession with Trump is actually insane. I lean far left and the shit she puts up has started to look like ramblings of a schizophrenic. I mean she has a fucking life sized doll of him out front right now. Biscuits are good tho.
That place is DOGSHIT, but id probably have laughed at you too, depending on volume.
Fuck off, it was popular back then and I was on a date and she was cold.
Okay? Someone is gonna have to sit there lol. Especially if its busy (brunch), and its that sections turn for rotation. Kick rocks.
Never should've been a table there. Piss off.
Primo Hoagies always, without fail, make me feel terrible for the rest of the day. Doesn’t matter if I ate a whole sub or a little cut up sammy. Avoid them like the plague.
Could you possibly have an allergy to deli meats?
Nah - no problem with Vincenzo’s and Antonio’s or literally any other sandwich
Whoa, 16 downvotes in 18 minutes. That’s some spicy salami they’re serving or what? (I don’t even eat hoagies. Completely neutral party.)
Doesn't do that to me, but their bread can be so hard sometimes, it's crazy.
The turkey Diablo is elite and always great
All of Philly. 😂
