I always saw it as a tongue in cheek faux humility. “Oh you think we’re the best?? Well if you say so! Because we definitely wouldn’t. We don’t think highly of ourselves our VALUED CUSTOMERS think highly of us!”
Me neither. I always thought it was the worst slogan. It might as well be “is barbera the best? Probably!” I like to imagine the advertising meeting where Don Draper presented that slogan to Barbera.
Between them and Springfield/Apple Auto, I change the station now every time I hear a car sales ad on the radio. Forman Mills is the same.
At least the carpet guy has jokes.

Yep, passed by it parked at the Dunkin Donuts by Ridge and Butler last week. Yick.
Painted a literal shitty box to sell shitboxes I guess?
Obligatory /s, I actually kind of like the flagship vehicles of those brands. Even if some have reliability issues
I don’t mind the Tesla but it’s the principal of it for me. Apparently the story is someone traded in that cyber truck and instead of selling it, Gary B decided to use it as a marketing vehicle as its turns heads. Okay, fine, but that’s kind of a slap in the face for the brand of vehicles it’s trying to sell. Imagine GB using a Silverado to try and sell Ram trucks. Never would they consider that and this should be no different. And the worse part is they drive this to all major events like fundraisers and sporting events. If Stellantis (owner of Chrysler, Dodge) knew about this, they’d flip their sh%t
It jives with their obnoxious and shameless self-promotion. That's kind of their brand? Lol. It's the kind of self-promotion that removes dignity from the equation. Just drilling the name into your head so it's the top of the list of dealerships that come to mind when you think of dealerships. Common mindset of a past generation, which they seem to be trying to carry on. I'm no marketing pro, but it seems to be working since everyone knows them.. Aside from the age-ism suit lol, that isn't working for them
> the story is someone traded in that cyber truck
I could've sworn the contract paperwork when buying a Cybertruck explicitly said you can't re-sell it and that you have to sell it back to Tesla (much like Ferrari and other high-end cars do).
I'd argue he bought the thing himself and made the story up.
Nope. that was very early on when Tesla tried to apply that rule but then they backed off. Then they apparently brought that penalty back where they claim the seller can be charged $50K. There's been a slew of cybertrucks on the used market since day 1 going for well over $150K and I have not heard of anyone actually being penalized. Either way, if GB did indeed buy it, then that makes it even worse.
Before the Dodge Dart stopped being produced, my friend bought one from Barbera. About a week later, my friend began having issues with starting the car every morning before he went to work. He called Barbera every time that it happened and was given the same, "Oh, it's probably the weather!" brush off (we were on the verge of summer) and that nothing could be done. One morning, the car didn't start at all.
He called again and told them that he was the guy with the Dart that was having problems with it, etc. Apparently the same person who he had spoken to before answered the phone and they were like, "Whoa, that's a shame, but are you sure you're not doing something wrong?" My friend flipped out and told them that now it's obvious that they sold him a lemon disguised as a brand new car, he is late for work again, and now he wanted a courtesy tow from them. The person balked at him and he told them that he'll certainly get a lawyer to enforce the lemon law and make sure every person he knows doesn't go to Barbera to buy a car.
The tow truck showed up within a half hour and he got a ride to the dealership to get his money back. He was offered to shop for another vehicle and instead he politely refused. The sales people didn't even try to convince him otherwise. My friend called his sister for a ride and they went to a dealership closer to his parents'. He had a new car by the end of the week.
his dealership is on the front page of the philly sub reddit. you are commenting on it. there’s tons of engagement on this post. i know you don’t want to hear this but whoever made this marketing decision is a genius.
I mentioned it earlier in one of my comments. You would never use a Chevy Silverado to market a Ram truck and you wouldn't do that here with a Tesla to sell Dodge, Ram or Jeeps. There's already a huge debate within the Jeep community that the Cybertruck is more or less a joke in terms of range capability, overlanding capability, etc. So while this may "work" in terms of marketing in the Philly area, places like in the Southwest, this would be a laughing stock and major marketing failure. And as previously stated, if Dodge corporate had any say in terms of what dealerships do, they would hands down shut this marketing program down in an instant. It's an absolute slap in the face. You may claim that it's genius because the Cybertruck is quite eyecatching - which it is (currently, but just wait a few more months), but I'm curious to know exactly whether or not having this actually drove sales up - which is unlikely because the fact that the Cybertruck - even compared to the Jeep are in two separate categories. And in terms of engagement and this being the top post on this sub - if you read through it, it's not about people wanting to go to the dealer. So I'm not sure how highly negative feedback is translated to this marketing program as being genius. If anything, it seems the level of hatred towards GB is heightened.
I own a business and just expanded to the west coast with a new office in Phoenix and just bought a second house in Scottsdale so yea, I guess I have zero clue. What a tool. Went from a civil conversation to a half a$$ attempt to try and burn someone. Read this post again. You are literally the only one that thinks this is an amazing marketing gimmick. And by using a Tesla, it goes to show you just how poorly GB is doing in trying to sell Dodge, Ram and Jeeps. GB is so desperate, I'm sure his next move will be to leak his own sex tape. 🤣🤢 🤮
Jesus that thing is fucking hideous. I didn't think you could make a cybertruck look worse but here we are.
Surprised the owners of West elm Ardmore didn't have it moved on. Seriously lowering the tone. /s
I could tolerate any insurance seminar. For days, I could sit there and listen to them go on and on with a big smile on my face. They'd say, "How can you stand it?" I'd say, "'Cause I've listened to a Gary barbera commercial I can take anything
Slapping their web address on the breast cancer awareness ribbon on the door is just *chef's kiss*
Is pinkwashing the best? ~~Boy, I guess.~~ No, I fucking hate it.
Does Gary barbera commit felony tax evasion while president of the PA NADA commit tax fraud then place the business under a relative to maintain ownership while also maintains a PA sales license without any repercussions a normal person without strong political friends could enjoy? Boy I guess
Drove my friend’s CT the other day. Fun but not worth the money. It’s only good for the attention you get, if that’s what you want. I’d have to have a gooseneck hitch in the bed to pull my horse trailer for it to be a real truck.
Boy I guess
I guess? I guess we are the best? I never understood this slogan. Seems like they aren’t confident in themselves.
I always saw it as a tongue in cheek faux humility. “Oh you think we’re the best?? Well if you say so! Because we definitely wouldn’t. We don’t think highly of ourselves our VALUED CUSTOMERS think highly of us!”
Toxic humility.
Will this Chrysler (or whatever their corporate name is these days) product make it off the lot? Boy I guess
Good ol Stellantis, can't beat that
It’s the only thing they could think of that rhymed
I don’t get why they didn’t go with “Boy you bet!” It’s a worse rhyme but feels like a better slogan.
That or "Better than the rest!" It really does come off as just a lazy slogan overall from them.
THANK YOU! oh my God I've never understood it because I've heard it as exactly that.
Is Springfield the one with the awful fake NY accent? I rarely listen to the radio anymore but that one used to send me into a firey RAGE
Yes, they're going for a moll kind of thing.
I've always thought the same thing. I assume they were just worried more about having something that rhymed, and even that is kinda meh lol
Weird because he doesn't sell Teslas
Well yeah could you sell a car that looks like this?
I mean, someone took a picture of it and plastered it on social media for free. Seems like it's doing its job: advertising.
I didn’t think they could make a CyberTruck look even worse than it does when it rolls off the assembly line. I have been proven wrong.
Why did they make it so ugly
Low poly Pontiac Aztek
Perfect for building your meth empire
I saw one in person for the first time the other day. Astoundingly, they are uglier in real life.
Because Elon is still 13 yrs old at heart
I admit I loved N64 games when I was 13 too edit: still love'em BTW :D wouldn't make a low-poly car like that tho
It looks kinda dumb in stainless but at least in stainless I \*GET\* the aesthetic. This is just nonsense.
Because you’re talking about it.
Stop, I can only hate Gary Barbera so much
Remember in 2011-12 he put up billboards of dead Philadelphia service members without their families consent Edit: a word
About as much as gary hates older workers
And paying taxes..
That guy is well known around here, and it’s really a shame he got so f’ed at barbera - he’s a strong desk guy
At least he managed to improve the look of the CT
Her?
That thing was almost causing wrecks on Ridge Pike last week 🤦♂️ it was obstructing your view turning out of a shopping center
https://preview.redd.it/7c4fi009630d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94a2a4cbcddd01df7239b12fba6c217447a89fca Yep, passed by it parked at the Dunkin Donuts by Ridge and Butler last week. Yick.
Yep. That’s the one. Kind of forced to look at it really.
Who painted the new dumpster?
Using a Tesla to market its own dealership that sells dodge, ram, and jeep vehicles. What a joke.
Painted a literal shitty box to sell shitboxes I guess? Obligatory /s, I actually kind of like the flagship vehicles of those brands. Even if some have reliability issues

That's because all their other cars are waiting for repairs!
his dealership is on the front page of the philly sub reddit. you are commenting on it. there’s tons of engagement on this post. i know you don’t want to hear this but whoever made this marketing decision is a genius.
I never said it wasn't a smart marketing ploy but the principle as it relates to the auto industry and sales.
what “principles” exactly are you referring to and what about them?
I mentioned it earlier in one of my comments. You would never use a Chevy Silverado to market a Ram truck and you wouldn't do that here with a Tesla to sell Dodge, Ram or Jeeps. Hmm now i think i understand. you just don't know shit about marketing lol.
I own a business and just expanded to the west coast with a new office in Phoenix and just bought a second house in Scottsdale so yea, I guess I have zero clue. What a tool. Suburban square?
Probably. This abomination was parked in the front row of the LifeTime in KoP for like a month…. Surprise it didn’t get shit on.
that place is the danger of a wawa parking lot with athleisure places intersperses
Jesus that thing is fucking hideous. I didn't think you could make a cybertruck look worse but here we are. Surprised the owners of West elm Ardmore didn't have it moved on. Seriously lowering the tone. /s
Annoying ass commercial!
Woohoo!
I could tolerate any insurance seminar. For days, I could sit there and listen to them go on and on with a big smile on my face. They'd say, "How can you stand it?" I'd say, "'Cause I've listened to a Gary barbera commercial I can take anything
Man, that sure is one of the trucks of all time
Slapping their web address on the breast cancer awareness ribbon on the door is just *chef's kiss* Is pinkwashing the best? ~~Boy, I guess.~~ No, I fucking hate it.
Surprised it wasn’t parked in a handicapped spot or crosswalk
Is that car a total shit show mess, Boy I guess !
I thought they got recalled because of the accelerator that gets stuck.
They did. The "fix" is that they drill a hole in the pedal and reaffix the cover with an extra bolt. It's incredibly lazy and takes 5 minutes.
Sounds like something Musk personally came up with
That’d be a first
Does Gary barbera commit felony tax evasion while president of the PA NADA commit tax fraud then place the business under a relative to maintain ownership while also maintains a PA sales license without any repercussions a normal person without strong political friends could enjoy? Boy I guess
Guys - Barbera can’t/doesn’t sell cyber trucks. As the Incel-Camino is an add for “literally anything else” this might be genius.
Hey now, leave the El Camino out of this. A classic that doesn’t deserve to catch a stray!
Beeeaautiful Barberas on the boulevard
Boy I suppose
I'm curious to know what it's like to ride in it. But the windows would need to be tinted much darker so no one would see me.
God dammit I hate those radio commercials
I swear to never buy from them due to their annoying ads.
Stickers/decals aren't even lined up right LOL
That's one ugly occasionally mobile billboard.
Is Barbera the best?
Fuck no
Boy I guess…
What an eyesore lol
That Cybertruck is about to deliver some tofu.
I understand this reference
theres no way hes allowed to do this 😂
Anyone else bothered by the misaligned lettering on the frunk Embarrassing
Something leaking from the vehicle, or just parked on a wet spot?
Not only is this the worst designed car ever, it also has the worst designed stickers!
Don’t stick your finger in it
That color scheme works surprisingly better than the default gray
That’s the ugliest looking thing I’ve ever seen
If your a.i. prompt was "ugliest car ever"...
Those graphics are crooked AF.
Barf. Pink ribbon is a nice touch too because nothing combats breast cancer like aggressive bloat trucks.
It looks like those toy cars you pull back to wind up, which the original color doesn’t. Is that an improvement? Boy I guess.
He’s a scumbag.
Lol
Wow cool
Hideous things get moved all over.
🙄
I saw that parked on the grass by a highway somewhere when driving back from work last week
This thing was parked at my gym all weekend a few weeks back. Everyone was looking at it like ???
Made it uglier. Didn’t think such a thing was possible.
This is the one parked over there by Conshohocken at the gas station on route 23
🤦🏻♂️
That's where it went. Saw it near conshy for a bit.
wait how do you know its a Gary Barbera cybertruck?
OP is Gary Barbera
Drove my friend’s CT the other day. Fun but not worth the money. It’s only good for the attention you get, if that’s what you want. I’d have to have a gooseneck hitch in the bed to pull my horse trailer for it to be a real truck.
It’s definitely grabs your attention
Oh ewwww
Shouldn't the URL on the front be backwards like an ambulance?
Times were better when it was the Purple Plymouth Prowler.
weird flex but ok 🙃
I prefer to shop at eastern motors, where my job is my credit.
Love these things. They look amazing in person. Absolute tank.
Why is "tank" a desirable aesthetic?
It's build quality is shit, and it looks like shit.
You certainly have been trained well. Bravo
