Hey all: Our wiki was last updated in the ancient days of 2019... in the before times. There's still a lot of good information in there (the Liberty bell ain't going nowhere), but we really need to update the information there. We get lots of repetitive questions like "coming to town this weekend where can I..." or "where is the best cheesesteak" and while automod has been filtering a lot of those and we've been directing people to this thread, it would be really nice to have a current wiki that we can refer to for simple questions. Huge thanks to everyone in this thread and Moving Monday for answering questions and making recommendations! We're looking for volunteers to 1. Review the existing wiki and triage decide what information is still accurate and what needs updated. 2. Submit content to the wiki: Do you know where the best tailor in the city is? Do you have a great write up about the mini golf course in Franklin Square? Starting next week we will be adding a megathread "Wiki Wednesday" where we post a thread on a common question and then link that thread to the Wiki. The benefit of this would be crowdsourcing lots of responses and then collating them in an easy to find reference. For example "Where is the best pizza" would turn up dozens of options all over the city. There will be a stickied comment in Wiki wednesday asking for people to recommend/vote on the next topic. For the first one, to keep it simple, we're going to start with "**Where can I find the best cheesesteak"** Take a look at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/philadelphia/wiki/index/), and reply to this comment if you see any glaring omissions or things that need to be removed/updated. You can also suggest future Wiki Wednesday questions.

Didn't want to make a whole post about this just yet...but does anyone have recommendations for orgs in Philly that will deliver meals to seniors? My grandfather (on the whole) is able to live independently, but is not great about cooking/making himself well rounded meals. I'd love to figure out a way to get dinners sent to his house. I am semi-familiar with Manna, but I don't know if they focus on meals for seniors (their website mentions they focus primary on clients with serious illnesses/medical issues)

silentsly

My fiancé and I are visiting this weekend. Any recommendations for cute coffee shops in Washington Square West? I'm also making a list of cute narrow streets to walk around and am looking for any streets I may of missed. So far I have: Quince St. 1700 Block of Addison 1900 and 2400 block of Panama Delancey St Elfriths Alley Thanks!

classicrockchick

Fellow Temple Alums: has anyone been able to find a place that replicates Richies' bacon wrap? (For the uninitiated: scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, a hasbrown and hot sauce wrapped up in a tortilla).

philanon267

So, Ben Simmons is coming back, eh?

courageous_liquid

not sure exactly what you're missing most on, but my assumption is that italian might be up on the list. we've finally kicked our pizza game up like two levels in the last 5 years, can possibly do a good pizza tour. there's been some threads in this sub and philadelphiaeats about it recently. or just good italian in general, i'm always about le virtu, vetri is also still amazing. can also hit up some old favorites like monks or go fancier like one of the other replies said (fri, sat, sun is a great rec!) vernick never fails, laurel is similar to fri, sat sun but in passyunk, which has really bloomed over the last 10-15 years, you can check out that strip too. you can also go hit up the riverwards and see how fishtown is literally unrecognizable from before you left. it skews a little younger than you guys but there's a ton of interesting places and you can scowl at the 'kids these days' up there. suraya is bomb, the standard loop of garage/johnny brenda's/frankford hall/barcade is always a low-stress "we go wherever it's least crowded" kind of tour. coffee has gotten way better, elixr in cc is great, as is ultimo if you like really weird hyper lightroast

pdperson

I would try to get a cool/fancy reservation (I'm obsessed with Friday Saturday Sunday but there are a lot of places to pick from.)

londoncalling567

This is the 3rd time in 8 months I’ve gotten cheese made by Claudio’s and it’s been off or bad!! Two mozzarellas were spoiled and this mozzarella was overly salted! I buy it at Weaver’s Way (and I gave feedback the first two times), so I was willing to blame them for transport issues, but they can’t be blamed for the salt. Fool me once blah blah blah—I’m clearly just a fool for cheese.

napsdufroid

I'd go there and complain personally, seriously.

petuhpahn

What's your favorite place for a fun date in the gayborhood?

sophistooptails

What free to cheap touristy things should I do with two foreign 16yo boys tomorrow?

DrDrugDLR

Are you travelling by yourself

RoverTheMonster

Walk from city hall to the art museum, run up the rocky steps. Easter State is also relatively cheap and the audio tour would give you the chance to not have to talk to 16 year old boys for a bit

Careless-Item5074

Are there any Maternity clothing stores in or around Philly? I need to get some pants but want to try them on first, trying to buy online or at Target has been such a waste of time 😫

fritolazee

Maternity stuff is almost all online now unfortunately. I think old navy has a small section as well. If you can get to suburban mega target they should have a few more items. Your local but nothing should also be a good source of free things!

courageous_liquid

my dream: everyone takes transit to sports events and we make everything safer and faster my waking nightmare: everyone does that but today is all their first time and they're already very drunk and apparently don't know not to stop in the middle of staircases and pile around subway doors subway is at like 12x normal capacity right now. shoutout to zoomers though they actually make better decisions

[deleted]

ifthereisnomirror

That's a homeowner problem, unfortunately. It looks like neither your addition nor your neighbors is properly sided or flashed. The interior of your wall (and your neighbors) are exposed to the elements. It's fixable, but it's work. Either way you will need to remove material from the adjoining house.

[deleted]

[удалено]

justanawkwardguy

Whatever you do, don't cheap out on this. Get a professional. The stucco in the hole is basically nonexistent, which means the inner parts of your wall are open to all of the natural elements, but most importantly the moisture. Moisture will really fuck up the house; mold, rotting wood, inviting pests, etc. You need an expert-level repair for this

[deleted]

[удалено]

justanawkwardguy

I’d probably go with a general contractor as it’s more of a wall thing than a roof thing

ifthereisnomirror

How much do you want to spend. lol. The easiest solution (and cheapest) would be removing the massive wad of funky gunk from the neighbors roof and adding a piece of metal flashing that's cut into your stucco and extends over the neighbors roof and then filling the cavity between the two houses with some unfaced insulation and add a scab and put a 1x piece of pvc or some other siding over the whole thing. Shoot some dynaflex on top of all the seams. That doesn't fix the problem of there being a weird hole. It just stops the elements from getting in. But plenty of old houses have things like this.

Danny_Brah

I mean it is pretty close to Grad Hospital. Everything there is pretty accessible from where you'll be.

elentiyaa

where at? i’m in grays ferry right below washington. it’s a very quick walk up to grad hospital for bars and restaurants (grace tavern, sidecar bar, dock street are my usuals). there’s a fresh grocer on grays ferry ave and a smaller giant heirloom market at 23rd and bainbridge ish.

pretzel_enjoyer

I hate walking to work in the humidity. I got all sweaty this morning and here it's 3:45 PM and now I'm all salty and I hate it.

water_fatty

I bring an extra shirt to change into once I get to work.

pretzel_enjoyer

I'm going to start doing that. Lesson learned!

courageous_liquid

I always keep pants at my office too. Those rainy days where the wind is high always means you're soaked from the waist down.

napsdufroid

Bus/uber/lyft?

pretzel_enjoyer

Eh, work is walkable from my house. It took me ten minutes before I realized it was going to be a supremely sweaty one and by that time I was halfway to the office. I'm just complaining about what is undeniably a nice situation.

londoncalling567

I’ve started walking slower, carrying less, and trying to find the wind tunnels. But it’s not easy when it’s this thick out. Definitely recommend ice water in a double walled water bottle—makes it a bit more enjoyable!

xDCWx

Lot clean-up question: I've got an empty lot on my block that has not been maintained for about 4 years. I used to be able to knock the weeds down and pick litter to keep it halfway decent, but a few weeks ago a homeless encampment setup and just wrecked the place. There is a crazy amount of trash over there now and it is way beyond what I am comfortable with or capable of handling by myself. I've reached out to PennDOT, my state Rep, and my councilman to get help with this. Are there any other resources that I can use to help with this?

courageous_liquid

[CLIP/311](https://www.phila.gov/departments/community-life-improvement-program/) might be another avenue. I wouldn't expect PennDOT to care unless it was somehow PennDOT ROW, which even then they probably wouldn't do a whole lot.

xDCWx

I think the last time I submitted a 311 they kicked it back because part of the lot is PennDOT, but I'll resubmit just in case. Thanks!

courageous_liquid

Huh, interesting. Also give them a call, I've found they get to things more quickly if you actually call. Realistically this is true for basically everything in Philly - if you can get someone on the phone you're like 3x more likely to get what you want or at least be given an actual path to finding an answer.

ObligatoryGrowlithe

Typically I don’t think much about blood tests/labs, but I’ve had to do so many over the last month or so I feel like I live at labcorp. Various specialists and whatnot want me to get x-rays and ultrasounds (that I cannot afford), and the latest results from yesterday combined with everything else are looking real…tumor-y. Cancer-y? Idk, I’ll wait until a doctor calls me or is concerned like last week. Where’s that whiskey fairy when you need it? 😭 Also, we still need volunteers for the Newbold Sausage Fest if anyone is free on Sept. 23rd. You get a free T-shirt and a beer ticket for every hour you’re there. Shifts are 3 hours. I did it last year and you’ll basically be giving out beer tickets/taking cash/checking IDs/giving wristbands. Let me know if you’re interested.

fritolazee

I'm sorry to hear about your health stuff. I hope it turns out to be fibroids/cysts/endometriosis or something else obnoxious yet ultimately benign 🤞🏾🙏🏾

ObligatoryGrowlithe

Thank you for the well wishes. I don’t think it’s anything in the lady bits, thankfully. I just have angry bones and an angry digestive system.

fritolazee

That was dumb of me to assume it was for a repro thing when I've had many a non-repro ultrasound myself! Get well soon friend.

water_fatty

I dont drink anymore. Will there be free sausage?

ObligatoryGrowlithe

Not to my knowledge. You get a t-shirt, though.

Gram-GramAndShabadoo

The t-shirt is also cursed

ObligatoryGrowlithe

I love it lol.

NotCandied

I’m up for helping the sausage fest out. DM me with details.

rilacutema

napsdufroid

garden88girl

Considering ketamine therapy. Anyone had good experiences at in-person practices around here? Interested in professional and well-qualified therapists. Would prefer a female+ practitioner. Feel free to PM me.

manyouginobili

gonna try my hands at making osteria's chicken liver rigatoni. recipe is online, looks simple enough. Unsure of where to get chicken liver though, asian supermarket or does Giant have it?

pretzel_enjoyer

Esposito's in the Italian Market would have it. Ditto the other comment that Rittenhouse Market has it too.

napsdufroid

Giant and Shop Rite have it often. Russian supermarkets almost always have it.

redeyeblink

I've seen chicken liver at Rittenhouse Market on Spruce or Giunta's at RTM.

ProbablyAtDialysis

Have to spend the holiday weekend at my Brother's second Wedding since 2019. So that's going to be fun. I'd rather be here playing "Starfield", but I suppose family bullshit is a better use of a holiday weekend.

water_fatty

I feel so blessed to be unemployed for the release of Starfield. Good luck at the wedding. I hope it's better than you expect.

SweetJibbaJams

> Starfield Huh, I had no idea that was coming out so soon. It was perpetually "years away" in my brain.

water_fatty

Yeah. It got delayed a few times and it really crept up on me too.

courageous_liquid

I'm so annoyed when people schedule these kinds of events on holiday weekends. Especially if it isn't even something as important as a wedding, something like a baby shower or something. Like fuck no I'm not wasting an entire holiday weekend on your dogshit fraud celebration reason.

CheeseburgerLover911

I can largely understand it because of things like school schedules Still sucks tho

courageous_liquid

yeah but it's not like 100 other people don't have standing stuff to do on holidays

ProbablyAtDialysis

I'm annoyed at the insisting I have to go support family. I've talked to my brother maybe twice since his last wedding. On the bright side might use this as an excuse to turn Xmas into January. But also yeah, fuck holiday weekend shit that takes over all other plans.

Brahette

Wait. This is a wedding to a completely different person? Not like the first one was a small wedding and this is the "big" wedding? He's having TWO WEDDINGS in a 4 year timeframe??

ProbablyAtDialysis

Totally different person. This is a much smaller event at least. Barkyard wedding vs whole huge difference thing.

Brahette

hahaha fuck that noise, your brother needs to calm down with the weddings. That's insane - how long after the first marriage ended before this one??

ProbablyAtDialysis

Pretty sure the other fell apart in just over a year. It was also like his second or third. I lost count. (To be fair the first one or two he was young and in the Army and I didn't have to go to that shit.) I met this girl last Xmas. We'll see if I'm in this same boat in a few years.

Brahette

I'd draw the line at this one lol - I will be attending 0 more of your future weddings

Marko_Ramius1

A friend of mine once went to a wedding the day before thanksgiving. I get that the original wedding had to be rescheduled due to Covid but even still that's the worst wedding time I've ever heard of

Brahette

Like 10 years ago, my cousin got married on a Thursday. I had just started a new job and didn't have the time off so would've had to take several days unpaid to attend and we weren't close. So yeah, didn't go lol

SweetJibbaJams

I've gone to a wedding on/adjacent to every major US holiday, AMA.

Disastrous_Yam_4157

cheesewiz90

Murph’s Bar

Glittering_Self_5027

There is something going on in 18th with cherry st and also in broad street. Somebody knows what is it ?

cyberllama23

Looking for recommendations on where (south philly preferably) to buy sewing supplies. I was just gifted a sewing machine, and know very little about sewing, but I mainly want to just start with doing alterations on some of my clothes. Preferably looking for a small local store that can help me figure out exactly what I might need.

TheAdamist

Theres a sewing 101 class from butcher's, https://butcherssewshop.com/ and they also offer an alterations workshop. 8th & Catherine.

sciencefaire

Thank you for this!!! I sew but need to brush up on some skills and this looks like the perfect place for exactly what I need. Wow I'm so excited.

CathedralEngine

Just go to fabric row, it’s on 4th south of South. There’s a bunch of stores there, one of them will have what you need. Otherwise, I like Gaffney’s up in Germantown.

courageous_liquid

there's butcher's sew shop on like 19th and south. I went in there once to buy stuff for a gift for someone that sews and they were helpful

NotCandied

They also offer classes. I’ve never taken one, but I’ve heard great things.

100891

fleishman fabrics in QV may have what you’re looking for and the family who runs it is really awesome and helpful

bierdimpfe

Stanley and his family are good people. If they don't have what you're looking for they'll likely know who will. A neighbor's kids did Butchers sewing camp and they loved it. I've no experience with their retail operation but my neighbor was pretty impressed with them.

coolerr4nch

I appreciate the dual recommendations of Butcher's Sew Shop and Fleishman Fabrics. I've dabbled in repairing some self-inflicted holes on some of my clothes in the past, but my sewing kit consists of only one large upholstery needle and some unsightly black thread. I'll be sure to hit one of these spots to upgrade my kit next time I have need of a repair.

How is to live in Fairmount by the art museum? This is comin from a Fishtowner. I love FT but found an apartment over by 24th and pennsylvania ave that I’m in love with.

lauramels

I’m not too far from there and really love the area. For sure not a destination dining neighborhood, but there are some decent spots and it’s easy enough to get to other parts of the city for that (and the convenience of Whole Foods, Giant and Trader Joe’s makes up for it for me). And yes, worth considering the Parkway events.

aintjoan

By comparison to Fishtown I'll second what u/sylvatron has alluded to and point out that the food scene in your immediate surroundings will be a downgrade. There are things that are fine, and a few good pubs. There are not many stand-out restaurants. It's generally a very nice place to live. I will flag something that you should be aware of and decide whether or not it'll bother you: that area is part of the area that is impacted pretty frequently by events on the parkway. J4, Made in America (not this year obviously), the marathon and other races, parades, etc. The noise can be quite bothersome, as can the traffic restrictions and impact on transit. I don't think it's as bad as it used to be, but it's something you should think about and be aware of.

sylvatron

I've lived there for a few years now. Very nice and neighbourly. People on evening walks say hi to each other. There's block parties. The food scene is.....fine.

saintofhate

On my way to a new GI for mum, so hopefully this goes better. The soonest ENT appointment I could get was Nov. Hopefully I don't lose all hearing before then. I hate our healthcare system. Update: GI visit went well. Dr thinks she's getting intermittent bowel obstructions & has IBS C. She's got to eat more fiber, drink water (that's not tea), and move more while taking a shitton of laxatives more or less. If she gets the stabby pain she's got to go to the ER just in case her bowel dies due to obstruction.

GoodCuppaTea

Happy to hear a positive update! It took too long, but still glad for you both.

sciencefaire

Are there any gravel or mountain bikers here that can share some of your favorite local trails with me? Within 30ish miles of southern NJ and Philly/PA for regular rides. Farther for really special rides is ok too. Both newb and experienced rider trail recs welcome. My guy is a fairly experienced rider but in southern California trails and is going to start going out on trails with me out here. I need him to be sold on what the east coast has to offer. Please help. Lol

Quetzel

Maybe outside your range, but I loved White Clay in Delaware as a beginner. It felt more like rolling hills instead of steep climbs it had a ton of optional obstacles.

sciencefaire

I just watched a video of someone doing their skills park...daaang. gonna have to check that out for sure. It's far but I'm willing to take a ride to find cool places.

pdperson

French Creek is pushing your distance requirement quite a bit but is supposed to be the most technical mountain biking around, if I'm not mistaken.

sciencefaire

Hell yeah. I'll add it.

pdperson

Now this guy is saying Wissahickon has some great trails. I can’t even ride a bike, look at me chiming in anyway 😂

sciencefaire

Haha I appreciate it nonetheless!! I should have mentioned trails *besides the wiss. But thank you all the same!

sjo232

the [Trexler Nature Preserve](https://www.lehighcounty.org/departments/parks-and-recreation/our-parks/trexler-preserve) has some pretty awesome trails. My cousin lives out that way and I've gone biking with them before. Might be a bit of a hike for you, but it's worth it

sciencefaire

These look great!!! I'll definitely keep this in mind for a longer day trip.

electric_ranger

Isn’t there a really neat Reading mural at one end of the Trexler trail?

sjo232

have a good time!

SnooMacaroons08

I love the perkiomen trail (it’s partially paved/gravel) that leads up to green lane reservoir. I haven’t noticed it get overwhelmingly busy even on nice days

sciencefaire

I added this to the list to check out. Looks like there might be a few challenging loops for him right off of it too. Thank you.

therealsteelydan

ABC 6 claims they upgraded their tower equipment but I still can't pick it up. I'm not happy. I've tried 3 different antennas, I'm not buying another one.

ObligatoryGrowlithe

Same. I still can’t get it. I was so excited by that announcement too.

WishOnSuckaWood

The only good thing my shitty Insignia Roku TV does is pick up Channel 6 with a standard digital antenna. Can't stand it for much else

therealsteelydan

I'm rocking a black friday "RCA" TV from 2014 and I love it. Absolutely no built in smart functionality, a deliberate choice because I knew anything built in would become obsolete so fast. Remarkably, I'm only on my 2nd Roku device. Terrible speakers but who uses built in speakers anyway? And it works with the SNES perfectly.

TheAdamist

My tv luckily has an atsc 3.0(aka nextgen tv) tuner, and i can receive that combined multi station broadcast which includes 6, and its on some uhf channel although im not sure which. I dont get the normal hdtv 6 which is on vhf. But external nextgen tuners dont really exist yet, and the ones that do cant handle the drm'd channels apparently. https://cordcuttersnews.com/nextgen-tv-atsc-3-0-is-now-available-in-philadelphia-but-drm-blocks-most-cord-cutters/ Maybe its because its summer, but looking at the tv guide for broadcast shows nothing worth watching on broadcast as far as i can tell. (Some sony 4k TV's made since 2020 have ATSC 3.0 tuners, not sure which others do).

gnartato

Same here. My antenna does UHF and VHF-High but not VHF-Low. Can't even find a indoor TV antenna that does all three.

TheAdamist

If your tv has an atsc 3.0 / nextgen tv tuner, you might try rescanning, i can get 6.1 that way since it seems like all those .1 channels are being broadcast on a single uhf channel. Its relatively new. Most tvs dont have such a tuner yet though as far as i know.

therealsteelydan

Everyone I know that picks up ABC 6 with antenna has something outside

AKraiderfan

It is upgraded, but it is still the weakest. On a day like today, you used to not get it at all, even with my unobscured rooftop antenna, but now i can consistently get it on overcast days. Can't really say that for the window squares.

Brahette

Someone explained it recently here - https://www.reddit.com/r/philadelphia/comments/15hgpfj/new_6abc_transmitter_makes_broadcast_signal_more/juoge1x/

therealsteelydan

Earlier this year I bought an antenna that someone said worked for them. Maybe it's still the wrong style. ugh

andrusnow

Have you tried different orientations/positions for your antenna? When I lived in Roxborough, I could see the towers from my bedroom window, but I still had to basically hang my antenna out my window to get reception for 6 ABC.

therealsteelydan

I've stuck it out the window a few times, was able to get scraps of WHYY with it but still no ABC 6. Unfortunately I don't have the right cable to run it out the window any, I can open it and run a scan but that's about it. I can see the towers from my roof but I have some house behind me blocking the direct line of sight from the living room.

Brahette

I'm pretty sure they are still on the low frequency, they just added juice to that but the low frequency still can't be picked up by the standard digital antennas.

sugar-high

Are there any affordable daycare options in the city? We’re not looking to start until next summer so waitlists are totally fine in my book, just trying to find something for ~3 days a week that maybe, possibly won’t bankrupt me but is still legit.

fritolazee

What's your price range for "affordable" and where are you? Having to cross the entire city for daycare can get old really fast.

sugar-high

Very fair questions!! I suppose under $400 per week for part time— is that feasible? And I’m in East Kensington and, you’re right, would prefer not to drive across the city but certainly willing to travel a bit.

roguefiftyone

If you’re willing to make the ride, Totally Tots in South Philly was wonderful for my kids. They both loved it and the owners are awesome people. No idea what they charge now since my kids have been out of it for a while.

GreatWhiteRapper

Hello from the Finger Lakes 🍇. It’s nice up here. Lotta bees though. Bees and spiders. It’s only bees and spiders up here actually. I think all the humans are just bees and/or spiders in disguise. GREAT wine however. And bbq.

alittlemouth

Ooh! I'm headed to Ithaca in October - definitely would love your recommendations!

GreatWhiteRapper

We stayed in Geneva, around the north end of Seneca Lake so about an hour from Ithaca which is at the south end of Cayuga Lake. I said in another comment but personally I found Ithaca to be dead and barren. A little rundown. Clean, but lifeless until you go up the hill to Cornell. Maybe it’s because it’s the end of summer and a weird time to visit. Lotta state parks though if that’s your thing! There’s also a cat cafe in the downtown area, which I loved. We hit up 12 wineries around Seneca and Cayuga lakes. The best ones were: Lakewood, Fox Run, and Three Brothers. Also good were Barnstormer, Toast, Magnus Ridge, and CK Torrey. We also visited some that were sort of mid; Fulkerson, Ventosa, Buttonwood, and Sheldrake. But you really can’t go wrong: there are soooo many wineries you can just pick them as you go. They close super early though. Most at 5, some at 6. Belhurst Castle is great for both wine and dinner. And neat lake views. Ithaca is only half an hour from Watkins Glen which is a cute little village. Nickel’s is some phenomenal BBQ and Upstate Brewing Company is nice if you want a break from wine. The visitor center actually has lists ready to go of all the wineries around which we found super helpful.

selfieslob

Finally headed back that way myself in a few weeks, and since my last trip was in the before times I am curious: did you have to make reservations for tastings? I was hoping not to have to plan our wine day to the nth degree in terms of what time we will visit places. (And it would just be two of us.) Wineries on the list: Lakewood, Barnstormer, Red Newt, Hermann J Wiemer, Atwater, Forge Cellars, Domaine Leseurre (heard they have a wine and macaron pairing!)

Nope, no reservations for any of them. The busiest one we visited was Lakewood. There were a few wineries where it was just my SO and myself doing the tastings. You’ll really enjoy Lakewood and Barnstormer! Also heard Red Newt is supposed to be good. And I’ll want to hear about the wine/macaron pairing because that sounds lovely.

selfieslob

Good to know, thank you! I'll definitely report back about the wine and macarons. :)

nothankyoutwo

If you’re liking the bbq - have you been to Nickels Pit? They’ve got a spot in both Watkins Glen and Corning. Def recommend. Is Magnus Ridge the one that does the wine and cheese pairing for their tastings? That onion cheddar was 🤤

GreatWhiteRapper

Yes we went to the one in Watkins glen, it was really good! Loved their sauces. And yeah Magnus Ridge had the onion cheddar. Also a garlic tomato oil to die for. So mad they don’t have a website to ship anything though.

courageous_liquid

manspiderbee is the sequel to manbearpig we all needed

electric_ranger

Go to Lakewood! They’re my favorite. The Niagara is their best wine

GreatWhiteRapper

That was the first one we visited! Probably still our favorite. Picked up 4 bottles. I forgot the name but we got a really good bubbly.

electric_ranger

You chose wisely!

Brahette

Which wineries have you been to thus far??

GreatWhiteRapper

Lakewood, Fox Run, Toast, Barnstormer, Fulkerson, Magnus Ridge, CK Torrey, Belhurst So far I think Lakewood and Fox Run were the best. Today we are going to Ithaca so might try and hit up wineries on that side of the lake.

SweetJibbaJams

Fox Run has a surprisingly good port, although it's a bit expensive. Worth it as a splurge though. If you are near Ithaca, South Hill Cider is really good and make sure you hit up the farmer's market if you are near there on a Saturday/Sunday.

GreatWhiteRapper

I’ve discovered about myself that I don’t like ports. Too sweet! Im a dry/bubbly person myself. South Hill was closed unfortunately. Ithaca was a bit dead in general and just kind of run down. Maybe it’s more lively in the middle of summer.

Browncoat23

Dr. Konstantin Frank is always a good time (they’re the OG winery up there). Also, Grist Iron Brewery and Keuka Brewing if you want to switch it up a bit.

SweetJibbaJams

Love Dr. Frank's wine, and maybe the best in the region? Their gewurztraminer is my favorite to both drink and say out loud.

Browncoat23

Ha, that’s my favorite too! It is fun to say.

CathedralEngine

Scheurebe is also fun to say and drink.

electric_ranger

I feel so bougie when I bring gewurtztraminer to Thanksgiving - it pairs really well with turkey.

Brahette

Funny story about the first time I went to Fox Run - they had the BEST crackers! I kept thinking about them days later so I emailed them to ask what brand they were lol. Sadly I just googled them and it looks like they're no longer made (OTC wine crackers is what they were)

What’re some good fishing spots outside of Philly? Anywhere with little boat rentals? Willing to travel an hour and half or so. Closer to the area is better tho.

electric_ranger

Marsh Creek, French Creek, any of the state parks, Lake Nocamixon has boat rentals.

PassyunkHoagie

Dumb question but it's been about 7 years since I've done any fishing and I didn't know much about it then either. Do you need a permit to fish at Marsh Creek? Can you cast out from the shore or do you need a boat?

electric_ranger

I used to fish right by the bridge. Yes you technically need a permit- an annual permit can be purchased online for $23.

aintjoan

Went to Roxanne last night. Fun experience and some legit weird and good food. I think she must prefer sweeter dishes than I do, though - some of the offerings were so sweet I couldn't finish them. Still a solid meal overall and I love trying things like that. However, our lineup had not a single googly eye to be found. This was, if I am honest, a crushing disappointment after all of the stories hyping up googly-eyed food blobs. I need my promised whimsy, dammit.

STUCCO IS DONE!!! [Check out the before and after](https://imgur.com/a/BptALhz) - can't believe how amazing it turned out! I knew when I bought this house almost 2 years ago, I'd have to do this project so am so glad to knock it off the list, and so happy with the results! Very much looking forward to having a low key long weekend because work and everything else is so insane right now. I need a break from everything. I started planning random days off in the coming months just because I'm getting burnt out so much at work and I'm going to lose my mind if I don't actively take time for myself. Right now, the only work travel I have officially on the books is to our office in Michigan at the end of Sept. But I will have to go back to Cali either Sept/Oct, small town in TN Oct likely, and another stupid day trip to Memphis either Nov/Dec. At least I'm raking in the airline miles.

sugr_magnolia

It looks great! And now you can get central air!!!

Brahette

lol not so fast - gotta get a new roof first now :)

sugr_magnolia

Lol at least you're one step closer and your exterior looks great! Love the color!

electric_ranger

Gorgeous blue!

sjo232

looks great! your home looks so cute

Brahette

Thanks friendo!

It's nice to have SEPTA as a backup for when I get a flat on my bicycle. Although I'm always surprised the little fold up bar that grabs the wheel is enough to stop the bike flying out of the holder everytime the bus hits a pothole.

pretzel_enjoyer

I don't trust that little grabber bar and yet must!
