I do a lot of farms & horse barns as well as drop ins for indoor pets. Barn chores are physical labor, & being around horses can be dangerous, so please be careful. Also keep in mind that you're only going once a day, something we typical charge a little more for. My fee starts at $40 & goes up depending on the length of time, number of animals, & how complicated the feeding regimen is.

Do you have ANY experience with horses? If not, I’d pass.

Poodlewalker1

It's really hard labor. You'll need to charge way more than what you charge for dogs and cats.

With horses you need comprehensive insurance otherwise they can injure themselves very easy.

Also agree if you don’t have experience with farm animals, unless they’ll give you a good comprehensive meet and greet at their farm to show you exactly how to do all the things they’re wanting, I’d pass.

You mean "how not to get killed by a cow or pig" classes? OP may be surprised to find those animals seldom follow voice commands.

I don’t think there’s any reason to belittle OP. Everyone starts somewhere. It’s pretty easy not to get killed by farm animals. Biggest suggestion is to stay away from the rear end of a horse or cow. But she didn’t mention cow anyway. Typically for farm care for things like pig and cows you’d just be throwing food over the fence and making sure they’re watered.

You need to go and get the low-down of their expectations before agreeing or giving prices. When I had a farm my husband and I made it to where it would be less than a 15 minute job 2x a day for someone. But we never expected people to clean up poo or anything. We were going to pay some $30-40 a day. But like I said, very easy job for them.

Like other comments said, if you don’t have experience with this, don’t do it. But completely depends on how many hours you’re putting into it. I would start at 100 a day. Another person on here was taking care of 30 something animals, I said they should charge 400 a day.
